You couldn't pay me to go to the WDW tiki room ever again, but I really enjoyed the one in DL and all the kids loved it too.

To those who are in charge of such things I hope they never, never, never, never, ever change the DL tiki room to be like the one in WDW! :sad2:

They have absolutely ruined the tiki room at WDW.

Our first experience with DL's came back in 2007 and it was in the night and the people around us were singing along with the birds/flowers and it was such a lovely 1st experience for us. I will never forget it. For such an old attraction it is amazing how much fun it still is.

I guess that is why I love Disney so much. Walt made such beautiful attractions that last with you forever.

One thing that may save the Tiki room in Disneyland from the same fate as the WDW counterpart is the historic impact of that attraction(1st audio animatronic). If Disneyland were to do such a thing, the uproar would be interesting to say the least.

I love love love the Tiki Room. I love the music, everything. I hope it never changes... It scares me to think that they might! Look what they're supposedly doing to IASW and that's a classic too..

:lovestruc The Tiki Room is probably my favorite attraction in the park.. I love it. :cloud9:

I just read somewhere that WDW Tiki Room was going back to the Orinagal one in DL. The WDW Tiki Room was going to be refurbished.

One thing we learned on our after-hours tour is that the Tiki room is the only attraction Walt built himself, meaning using his own funds. That's why it's called "Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room." It does not rely on sponsorship since it's wholly owned by Disneyland. Because of that, I too hope it never changes.

We love the Tiki Room too (one of my cats is even named Tiki) and I also find the WDW one to be a travesty. I subjected myself it it twice (once on each visit) and I now vow that I will never do it again! So, here's another cry "Long live the ORIGINAL Tiki Room"!

Having never been to WDW, what's the deal with the Tiki Room there, in comparison? Just curious. Tell me about the awfulness! popcorn::

I've never been to WDW either and am also curious. But I do know that I love love love the Tiki Room in DL!!!! It is the BEST on a hot day with a nice cool Dole Whip! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmm

the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room is the best right at 6:20, you go in with the sun setting, and come out with all the lights on!

PRETTY :)

But i am, too curios what is the WDW Tiki room all about

I know its something about "under new management" or something....:confused3

and i have to say i love the preshow :) very fun

i think the tiki room is the only thing i have not done. What is it exactly  I also would like to know whats wrong with wdw tiki room :)

I've tried to block it from my memory, but basically Iago is in charge and he has the most horrible grating voice (played very loudly) and he complains and squawks through the whole thing. Blech! Five seconds and you have a headache. :crazy2:

Tiki Room WDW is "Under New Management". The storyline is that Iago (from Aladdin) and Zazu (from Lion King--but not voiced by Rowan Atkinson in this attraction) have taken over the aging Tiki Room.

It basically starts like our beloved DL Tiki Room show with Jose and friends "waking up" and singing In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room and then Iago and Zazu interrupt. Iago sings a horrible (IMHO) new rendition of "Friend Like Me" with new lyrics about how cool and rich he is and how cheesy and old fashioned the Tiki Room birds are.

Then they go on to sing songs like "Hot, Hot, Hot" and and "Conga". At some point Iago angers the gods and Zazu and the other Tiki birds teach him a lesson. Finally (mercifully!) the show ends with "Get On Your Feet" and "Heigh Ho" as the exit music.

If you want to read more about this travesty of a show, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Enchanted_Tiki_Room_(Under_New_Management) for a fuller description.

Good description of a horrible show! I love, love, LOVE the Tiki Room at DL and can't stand it at WDW! Even my 8yr old DD didn't want to go to the Tiki Room at WDW last week after seeing the original at DL last fall. It's loud, obnoxious, and without the simple charm of the original. I feel sorry for the more recent visitors to WDW who only know the Tiki Room as 'under new management' and never saw the original, adorable, not obnoxious, show!

I was livid when I saw the nightmare of a show my first time at WDW it was terrible!!!

If you touch my Tiki Room I will show you Angered Fans are a lot worse then angered Tiki Gods hahahah!

They used to run the original version of the Tiki Room at WDW - they were forced to change it to keep it alive as an attraction.

You have to understand - the folks that go to WDW - they have a different cultural/tourist mindset - they will actually get up and leave in the middle of a show they don't feel is valuable/worthy of their touring time. That's what happened to the original Tiki Show.

We were WDW regulars before moving out here to Los Angeles and becoming DL AP holders. For years, it was heart wrenching to watch over half the audience leave such a classic show - not even in the middle of it! When it got to be such a problem that management noticed it wasn't pulling it's weight, the decision was made to change it. Not a good decision, but one never-the-less.

Here in DL - we respect the classics. There at WDW - it's about how commando you can tour and how much can you cram into your day to get your money's worth, because it's your "vacation of a lifetime". It's not right or wrong, it's just the way it is.

I was blessed to attend the very last show of the original Tiki Room in WDW. People were crying when they turned on the lights (partially because the CM announcing the show couldn't hold back his own tears). They kept all the birds down and let us hang out and say goodbye. It was really touching.

I love the Tiki Room at DL. It is whimsical and fun! The one at WDW is one of the most annoying things I've heard! Listening to Gilbert Gotfried's shreiky voice as Iago is worse than fingernails on a chalkboard!!
