Please, please, PLEASE help me!! I'm lost!!

I know you've gotten lots of replies, but if it were another cruise line, I'd say keep the cruise. But since it is Carnival, I vote getting your money back and convincing your DM to go to Disney with you. We took Carnival once and hated it! Never again! Good luck in your decision.

Maybe you should just tell your mom now that you do not want to go on a cruise. Your mind is obviously made up because you are making every excuse as to why you do not want to go on the cruise.

For what it's worth, your expenses I believe are greatly exagerated. If this is a closed loop cruise (meaning that your cruse starts and ends in the US) you do not need passports. Also, if you want to do excursions cheaply do not book through the ship. In addition, my guess is that you booked a balcony room based on your $2300 for 3 people. I have gone on several cruises and have not had any additional expenses besides the original cost of the cruise.

I am not "bad-mouthing your character", I'm just telling it like I see it since you asked.

My expenses are not "greatly exaggerated." The cruise is on a brand new ship, and we do not have a balcony room. We have a small window. I am also unwilling to travel without passports, because if there was an emergency, we would be prevented from leaving by air (as I understand it from my county clerk office, and Carnival).

Good! That was a bad piece of advice. Never travel anywhere that you could end up stranded in a foreign country without a passport.

As for the question in your original post my gut reaction is to say to stick with the plans you made. It wouldn't be fair to the other people to break them now. I don't know you or your family dynamic. It seems like you feel you were bullied into it a bit and at the same time don't want to disappoint anyone. That's a tough one.

I'd take this trip and make a great time of it for everyone. I really do think you could have a great time. Then from here forward really think about if it's right for you before making plans with other people.

Hope it all works out.

You are very sweet, thank you.

Having a passport is something you should have anyway--you'll be ready now to take a trip out of the country for years to come. So, that cost is going to benefit you for awhile.

You've been to Disney so many times--give something else a try.
A cruise is a perfect group trip.

It's time to expand your horizons! Take the baby step into international travel with your family. I seriously doubt you will regret it. Cruises are really fun.
