We have an ADR for CM at 7:50pm - I have been trying for weeks to get an earlier time since I didn't think my kiddos could make it that late. Finally at around 4am this morning I snagged one for 6:45pm

Only thing is that under the time stamp of the reservation it said - "Please note that your party may be seated at more than one table". Erm... we're only a party of 5. If we were a party of like 8 or more I'd kinda expect that for a disclaimer (side note - didn't get that for any of our other ADRs previously made). But 5?

I took it anyway. No where else did it give that warning on the booking screen - but then it was in the conformation email at the bottom too. Did I miss anyone else posting something similar on the boards?

It makes me a little nervous - convince me I'm making too much outta this.

It was giving me the same message on every restaurant I looked at, and we're only a party of 3. I think it's more of a general disclaimer than anything. You should be okay.

I don't remember an such disclaimer and we have parties of 6 and 5 for different days. I went in and retrieved my ADRs and none of them make this comment.

However, one of my reservations I made over the phone they stated I was going to need to split and make it two parties of 3. The CM stated that even though it showed two seperate tables LC is a small restaurant and they would more then likely get us together.

I don't think it is a general disclaimer on all reservations. I have a party of 8 and some of my reservations say we may be seated at separate tables, others don't. I booked all of the reservations online. As I ran the searches, some of the reservations times for the same restaurant said it, others didn't.

Also, I called and asked a CM about it. She told me that this means we may be seated at separate tables (the big tables were already taken?), but that they would try to seat us near one another.

When I made a reservation for a party of 3 for 50s Prime Time Cafe, I was told by the CM that we will be having 2 tables because there's no table for 3. I had her check the entire week that we were there and it was the same. She told me to arrive at the restaurant 15 mins before the appointed time and speak to the host/hostess about it. Rather facing the stress of the 3 of us not sitting together, I completely cancelled that reservation and booked us to eat at the Wave! No restaurant is that good for us to be separated!

Every year we go to WDW we have a large party. We are always told there is a chance we will be seated at separate tables. With the exception of Sci Fi and getting put in two cars, we have never been seated at separate tables. I also think it is just a disclaimer so in case on that particular day the party seated at the bigger table takes a little longer than normal. I figure everyone eats/chats at a different pace, the restaurant is looking to seat you as close to your ADR as possible that it may be just one of those kinds of days.

2) Let's look at the facts.
. . . there are tables for 2
. . . there are tables for 3
. . . there are tables for 4
. . . there are tables for 6 (at some eateries)
. . . there are tables for 8 (at some eateries)
3) When they book, they book the table for the number needed.
4) If you book later, they may not have a table for 3 (as an example)
. . . they might only have tables for 2 left
5) So, you might be split.
6) And, no, they can't just push some together.
7) That might cut out someone else who had a table reserved.
8) Plus, if they push tablse together, they lose two seats per table (the end ones).

Confused on #6,7,8 if they are seating you at two seperate tables esp for a party of 5, you will have the two tables they are pushing togetheranyway, unless they plan on seating one of your party with another couple. And if it they couldnt push them together it seems like they could seat you near each other, heck in most of the restaurants the tables are practically touching already

Don't worry about it. We are a party of 5 and have never been seated at separate tables despite the warning they give you.

plan on just indicating that we'll wait for a table to accommodate us all if situation arises

When I made our reservations on the phone for our party of 7 we were warned about this at a few of them, and I've seen it pop up on some online options since.

The one poster was right about how it happens. This comes up when there is not one table big enough for your whole group, but there are two smaller tables that combined work out. So the party of three folks basically got two tables that seat two each. Our party of 7 got two four-tops.

The CM I spoke to said to be sure and mentioned it to the hostess when you check in, and more often than not they are able to either sit you together, or right next to each other. There is no guarantee though. My guess is that the longer you are willing to wait for two tables next to each other to open up, the better your chances are.

. . . one table could be in position "B"
. . . there could be a larger table in position "C"
. . . then a smaller table in position "D"
. . . position "B" can't be pushed with "D" because "C" is in the way
. . . thus, people could be split on "B" and "D"
. . . not all layouts are conducive to pushing exact tables together
. . . it is just a matter of how and where the tables are laid out

NOTE: Now, instead of letters, think a a 2-table against a wall and a 2-table against the window. They could be separated by 15-20 feet. They certainly could not be pushed together. Now, Mrs. Smith has the table between them already reserved for 6-people. So, the 3-or-4 person ressie might be split.

When I was a teenager my family went with my aunt, uncle, and three cousins (ages 11-17) to WDW (we were a party of 9). We were separated just about every meal (which we thought was awesome as they let the kids sit at one table and the adults sit at the other table). Some of them they were on the other side of the restaurant.

Maybe you should have a plan B if you can't all sit together at CM? In their system all of their bigger tables at CM are probably booked and they put that warning on there as someone may cancel or have less of their party show up or not show up at all. Good luck!

I got that message too when trying for an ADR at Ohana's. We are a party of 4. So I tried different days/times until I did not get that message.

I also got that message when trying to book HDDR, I called and asked - and was told that we most likely would be split unless someone with a larger table cancelled. So we found another day/night for that ADR as well.

I didn't get the impression that it was just a random warning. I wondered if I had booked it on line, if that warning would have printed on my confirmation as well as on my reservation - so the CMs would know they do not have to sit you together, as you had been warned. In the end I decided it was just not worth it. It is our family vacation - being together outweighs a dining preference.

I'm pretty sure Disney does all they can to keep you together. I am also sure they will allow you to wait for a table big enough for 5 to open up if there isn't anything available when you arrive.

I also do not see Disney requiring a group as small as 3 to split up . . . .it would be crazy to expect one person to eat alone without their party and hold up a table meant for 2, when they could just wait for a table meant for 4.

The problem with that though is that by the time that table big enough for 5 opens up, there will probably be another party with a later ADR (that were not supposed to be split up) showing up for it. My guess is that they will try to seat you next to each other, or close, if they can, but the only way they will put you at a bigger table is if they have a cancellation or a no-show.

I was under the impression that Disney does not assign specific tables at the time of reservation; they only fill time slots. I've gotten this message for a party of 3, but I'm wagering that if we go there early, we will be more likely to get one of the available 4 tops. Of course, there could be a note on our specific reservation that says we came later and were warned about the possible split up (so people who were not warned won't be affected.) We will see whether I pay for this choice. I'll report back.
