Ugh, I feel like an idiot right now. About a week ago, we decided to fly to WDW instead of driving this year. We'd been watching Southwest's Dings for a month and finally realized that we wouldn't be getting a lower fare, so we booked.
Fast forward to today, when I got the ding I'd been waiting for! I could save $78 because there was a Ding for our return day!!! I immediately called Southwest, cancelled our original flight and booked the Ding.
Then I realized that what I'd actually done was book us a second flight from home to Disney, rather than the disney-to-home flight I needed. And yes, I made this mistake even though the "new" flight was at a slightly different time than the old one. I thought it seemed odd that the flight I was booking was different from my original flight by 15 minutes -- I just figured maybe they'd added a new flight, too (stupid, stupid, stupid!!!)
Thankfully, I was able to call Southwest back and they let me go back to my original itinerary. Unfortunately, the fare had gone up since we'd booked, so instead of saving $78, I ended up paying an additional $30.
(I should state that the Southwest agent I spoke to to gtry to get everything back the way it was could not have been nicer. She couldn't get me her old fare, but she was still quite gracious and helpful.)
I know $30 isn't much in the scheme of things, but I kind of feel sick. This was a big, stupid, unneccessary mistake. I can't believe I acted like such a moron.
Please tell me you've made similar mistakes and what I did isn't all that bad.
