I read an article somewhere yesterday that the PD sid that if this was Caylee, then the Anthonys would be paying for some of the search efforts or something like that.

I read that too, but I don't see how they could legally charge the search effort back to the grandparents. Caylee was not their child and they did not have legal custody when she was reported missing. Casey is their child, but is an adult so they are no longer monetarily responsible for her actions. I guess if they knew for sure that Caylee was dead and allowed the searches to go on then they would be resonsible for any seaches after they knew. But the only way they would know for sure is if Casey told them.

Finally someone talked some sense into the Anthony's. They decided against being on Larry King Live tonight. They need to continue to stay off the tv.

I was not totally surprised, but at the same time, when have they even listened to anyone as far as staying out of the cameras. But yes, glad they didn't do LK.

IMO Cindy has obstructed justice by her actions such as knowingly with holding Caylee's exclusive hairbrush and substituting another one instead. I think she can be held culpable for some of the search costs since every step of the way in this investigation she has not only dug her heels in and resisted but tried to give misleading information to lead them off the track.

I hope the heaviest sentence finds her. And I hope it finds her frantic and scared and terrifed until she can't stand it any longer... just like Caylee probably was. Poor baby

I am not for the death penalty but this case has certainly given me reason to rethink my convictions. Although there is no punishment that could possibly make up for what she has done, it would not bother me in the least to see her get the death penalty.

The death penalty is just far too easy. People say they want to see her "fry"... but they don't use the electric chair anymore.... and lethal injection is a more humane way to go than someone who is suffering from a life threateneing disease. I, too, would love to see her thrown into general population.... with a bunch of people who truly miss their kids, who may have screwed up, but still love their kids. I hope they dont throw the death penalty back in there...

I am a supporter of the death penalty but don't agree that everyone who murders should get it. Cop killers and serial killers top my list for that. People that murder their child I an go either way on..with this one just because she seems to be only worried about herself and never gave a care for anyone else I think should be given life with no parole because that would be the worst thing to do to her. There goes all her party days and there sure wont be guys all hopping to get in bed with her.

I have heard this rumor too but I don't really think they can. Unless they can prove the Grandparents knew where Caylee was (and I truly don't think they did) then they can't be liable. They could be charged with obstructing the investigation for some of their actions, but I highly doubt they can be compelled to pay for any of the search costs. They are the family members of the victim. No one is going to want to set a precident of making family members PAY LE for the costs of searching/finding/investigating the deat of a loved one. Casey maybe could be but she doesn't have 2 dimes. And I am pretty sure there are laws in place that prevent convicted criminals (And we pray she will be convicted) from profiting from their crime, so even if she sells her story she can't get any money.

So many have compared this to the Laci Peterson case--certainly they weren't going to go after her parents or his for the money for the search, and as the one that did it he certainly wasn't going to tell where she was. If that was the case they would go after all criminals for the costs associated with investigating their cases. Same with Casey. Yes this case has been frustrating and horrible, but I just don't see them getting money from anyone. Like it or not, this is Law Enforcement's job and what tax dollars pay for.

I have a family friend who is a defense private investigator and he has gotten a call from Baez. He has not taken the case (yet) but they've asked him to look at where they found the body so it looks like Casey's defense team is pretty sure this is Caylee.

This guy has worked on many high profile cases and while I know it will come down to $$ I'm hoping that he turns it down.

I honestly can't stand LP. I know he was at least still out the looking, but all his little statements are just stupid. Let's see, he made a statement about the dumpster, then it was about the stuff found in the water in the park a few weeks ago and now he tries to make it sound like he knows exactly what Casey did. You know If hadn't been for Cindy no one would have ever said anything about Caylee being gone, and what Casey was capable of. Do I think Cindy is perfect NO but I don't think she the devil that people have made her out to be. She lost a granddaughter and now she is going to lose her daughter.

LP said that he thinks that Casey wanted to go out so she chloroformed Caylee and put duct tape over her mouth. So that if Caylee woke up in the trunk she wouldnt draw any attention to the car.
LP can be quite the character... but it doesnt seem too far fetched to me.

I can buy that. Maybe it is the fact that I don't want to believe she did it intentionally but I have thought that the actual death was unintentional, but that Casey did something reckless to cause it.

But Casey has nothing. She's legally an adult, so her parents couldn't be held responsible for her stupidity. They could give her life in prison with no parole, and then make her pay back the cost of the search with the wages she earns in prison.
I beleive prisoners make like 5 cents an hour or something crazy like that. When they save enough to buy a candy bar, it's a big deal. She should not even have that luxuary.

But why wouldn't she just drop her off at her parents??? Was it seriously such a power struggle between her and Cindy over this little girl??
