There seems to be a flood of negative threads and posts about DCL. I know we all have a right to post our opinions, whether good or bad. I have also read about some first time cruisers becoming a bit concerned about all the negativity (and I don't blame them, especially since we pay big $$$ for a Disney Cruise) We will be going on our first cruise on July 3 (7 night western Magic) and we can't wait!!!!

Please list 3 (more if you wish) things that you feel were positive experiences on your Disney Cruise!!!!!

Karen

1) I'm lucky enough to be able to go on a cruise.

2) I've made lots of new friends through the disboards.

3) I'll be in the sunshine

4) I'll be off work for 2 weeks

5) I'll be spending two weeks with my family

6) I'm going on holiday

The size of the stateroom and the fact that most have the split bathroom is a big plus for families. I like that there are kid-free zones. I like that the entertainment has inside jokes for parents. They do a good job of entertaining everyone.

1) The adult areas are kept for adults only

2) The production shows (Disney Dreams, Hercules, and Golden Mickeys) are the highest quality on the seas. Much better IMHO opinion than the vegas type shows on other lines.

3) The themeing that goes into the ship

4) The best crew afloat!

5) The chance to dine in different dining venues each night but keep your same servers.

6) No other ship has a horn as great as Disneys!

7) Last, but by no means least, Castaway Cay!

Disney isn't our only choice, but it is our favorite choice!

1) the exceptional service on the cruise - without question, the staff is the best

2) the beauty and grandeur of the ship

3) The amazing childrens programming (Oceaneers)

1. my family being with me

2. the over 600 picutes for long lasting memorys

3. the way DCL makes you feel like a kid

4. castaway cay

5. the embarksion party

6. the fabulous crew made for a wonderful vacation.

1. A week off spent with the family

2. Castaway Cay & just relaxing

3. Our servers, They were the best

4. The beauty of the ship and ocean. Take time and enjoy them.

1. The MAGIC and WONDER of a Disney cruise. I am not trying to be corny here but there is something totally different in the atmosphere of a Disney cruise. And yes, I get a lump in my throat when I walk down Main Street USA toward the castle. Relax and let it take you.

2. Family time - nothing beats spending time with your loved ones.

3. The ship is gorgeous, clean and staffed with the best crew afloat.

4. DIS friends that you meet - both from the general DCL board and those sailing with you.

5. The shows, programming, ports are great.

6. I am brave - but in the 3 cruises that I have had, the food! Not only do I not have to cook it and clean up afterward but there is a genuine concern that my dining experience is the best that it can be - and if it wasn't I would certainly say so.

7. The enforced adult areas as already stated. We sailed on Princess and the lack of control shown by parents ruined most of our pool and hot tub time as we had no where to go and get away.

KarenB:

BEFORE I list our reasons, please be aware that before we took our first cruise four years ago, we had heard countless negative reports about the cruising experience (not on DCL). Several co-workers and friends had bad experiences on RCL, Carnival, NCL and the Red Boat. Many had awful food (including getting food poisoning), crew members pinching girl's derrieres, crude remarks, dirty conditions, etc. We had friends on that Carnival ship when the pipes broke and sewage freely flowed and they were stuck out at sea for three days.

My point is -- NONE of it discouraged us from wanting to sail. I will say, right now we have no desire to try another cruise line, but every company is going to have something that goes wrong. If you take every negative experience from every person and lump it into one forum, it will sound like a lot of negativity.

Here's our reasons (and this doesn't even touch the surface):

1. The amazing beauty of the ship, the cleanliness, the well-maintained public areas, the layout of the staterooms, and we always felt SAFE.

2. Dining experiences were always fun and entertaining, it opened up new doors to food ventures, and EACH dining room is uniquely designed and decorated. Wait staff always attentive, courteous, funny and entertaining.

3. The AWESOME experience of being out at sea. I felt Disney picked wonderful ports -- and their shore excursion offerings always made us feel secure and confident.

4. SPA treatments -- a real escape experience. 'Nuff said.

5. The entertainment -- stage shows, comedians, night club acts, dueling pianos -- all well done and excellent talent.

If you take all the negative comments onboard with you, then that's all you will expect. Try to leave them behind!

1. The magical feeling I get when I first walk onto the ship.

2. The look on my son's face when he first walks onto the ship.

3. The tropical paradise, a.k.a Castaway Cay.

4. The wonderful servers, who go out of their way to please you.

5. The great shows.

6. The great cabin.

7. The food, that I don't have to shop for, cook, serve, or clean up.

8. Watching dolphins swim in front of the ship, when leaving Port Canaveral.

9. The feeling you get when you hear the ship's horn.

10. The drink of the day.

:flower1: It's the absolute best vacation I've ever been on! :flower1:

That's a great one -- the feeling you get when you first cross that bridge and step onboard.

And be prepared to have your picture taken -- they take everyone's picture as a welcome aboard plaque. They usually come out as a great souvenir!

1. The most wonderful customer service of any company (IMHO.)

2. Despite the negative food threads, some of the best food I've EVER eaten. (The best desserts anywhere!)

3. Dining w/other families. (Yes, we actually do enjoy that. So far, anyway! LOL!)

4. The fact it's a FAMILY cruise line. (I've read other message boards on other cruise line sites, where some seniors get annoyed w/kids being on a cruise.)

5. The Disney horn.

6. The sailaway party!

These are reasons we continue to rebook on board each year!

Oh, I want to add one more thing to my list. I love Disney, so deciding on DCL for our first family cruise was kind of a no brainer, but what really clinched it, was the fact that they don't have a casino.

YEAH FOR NO CASINO! 100% with you on that one. Casinos attract a whole different crowd.

And the ship's horn is wonderful (plays "When You Wish Upon a Star"). Let RCL or Carnival or NCL or QM2 beat that one!

There are many....

Being blessed with the opportunity to go!

Having wonderful times making special memories with DH and family....
just seeing the sparkle in the grands eyes!
:cloud9:

The delicious food, great service, shows, Dis friends and meets, cheerful CM's,
characters, beautiful ocean, ports and the overall magic of ship.

A small piece of advise:
Life is short, don't sweat the small stuff!
:goodvibes

Godspeed ^i^
