KarenB:
BEFORE I list our reasons, please be aware that before we took our first cruise four years ago, we had heard countless negative reports about the cruising experience (not on
DCL). Several co-workers and friends had bad experiences on RCL, Carnival, NCL and the Red Boat. Many had awful food (including getting food poisoning), crew members pinching girl's derrieres, crude remarks, dirty conditions, etc. We had friends on that Carnival ship when the pipes broke and sewage freely flowed and they were stuck out at sea for three days.
My point is -- NONE of it discouraged us from wanting to sail. I will say, right now we have no desire to try another cruise line, but every company is going to have something that goes wrong. If you take every negative experience from every person and lump it into one forum, it will sound like a lot of negativity.
Here's our reasons (and this doesn't even touch the surface):
1. The amazing beauty of the ship, the cleanliness, the well-maintained public areas, the layout of the staterooms, and we always felt SAFE.
2. Dining experiences were always fun and entertaining, it opened up new doors to food ventures, and EACH dining room is uniquely designed and decorated. Wait staff always attentive, courteous, funny and entertaining.
3. The AWESOME experience of being out at sea. I felt Disney picked wonderful ports -- and their shore excursion offerings always made us feel secure and confident.
4. SPA treatments -- a real escape experience. 'Nuff said.
5. The entertainment -- stage shows, comedians, night club acts, dueling pianos -- all well done and excellent talent.
If you take all the negative comments onboard with you, then that's all you will expect. Try to leave them behind!
