One of our fellow Dis'ers (she is my neighbor that posts here every once in a while, usually to pick on me) has had her truck stolen. She takes care of her vehicle collection just like I do. She pampers them. It was stolen from the parking lot of her husband's work in Port St. Lucie, FL. If you are in FL, or are going to be soon and see this truck with the vanity plate NO CAPES, please call the police. It was supposed to be for her son to drive to school next year. It was a 1994 and had been kept in immaculate shape. She is WDW4US2 on the bds. The no capes is for Edna Mode from the Incredibles, which is also on the back of the truck. We think someone was stalking it for parts for a chop shop. People should keep their hands to themselves. The person in the picture is not her, it is a family member.

yes, this afternoon around 6:30pm

it was taken while her husband was working this afternoon, that is when he got off work

Well that just stinks!

I'm sorry this happened to your friend Jen.. I hope they can recover the vehicle before anything happens to it.

People steal cars all the time,,but a truck thief ?!?!?! Thers just no excuse !! I think truck thieves should be strung up just like the horse thieves of the old west !!
Thats just like steal'n part of the family !!
Just aint right.

What a loser! Anyone that steals someone else's stuff is a LOSER! I hope the jerk gets caught.

unforutnately its probably already in pieces or in a container heading overseas. Truck thieves are worse than horse thieves, both should be shot on sight :thumbsup2

I agree Scott. We live close enough to ports here that it has to be in pieces by now. That truck was in such good shape that the parts are going to make someone a good profit and a teenager a very tired bus rider. What is more is that I would have really liked to watch them leave with it because it was a manual transmission and a darn difficult one to master if you are not used to driving them. I know Scott wouldn't have a problem with it, but most people (unlike me, which both of my jeep and trans am have manual trannies) are used to automatics and it would have been a sight.

The standard trans. is almost a thing of the past in light duty trucks. Ford will no longer offer a stick as of the 2011 superduty model. How ever my DW's dodge diesel is a 6 speed manual and it is fun to get in and slam some gears. I hope your friend had full coverage ins. on the truck.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear about the theft. How pitiful that people feel like they can take things that don't belong to them.

My hubby was bass fishing on Friday and went into a remote cove. He found a Jeep, nosefirst into the water, completely scorched. Called police to report it. Side story: Even tho he gave them exact GPS location, they couldn't figure out how to get there, so he had to buzz all the way back to the docks to pick up an officer, escort him back, then wait for him while he did his job on land. Turns out -- surprise! -- stolen Jeep. In this case, I guess they just stole it for a joy ride before trashing it.

Any word? I'm hoping it was just some teenage "dare" and that the truck is found abandoned someplace and out of gas.

I wasn't on the road much yesterday - but I did have my eye out for it. Plus - we went to the Fort yesterday afternoon & I actually found myself looking for this truck on a site! I found Lorna & Rich at the bus stop, instead!

That is terrible, I hope that they eventually find the truck, but as you say, it's not looking good as more time goes by.

When I first turned 16, my best friend and I each went and got our motorcycle licenses so we could get out and drive right away (our passenger car licenses were not issued until 16 and 1/2 and 6 months is a lifetime away when you are 16). We took them to go see an away football game, all proud of ourselves and having a great time. After the game, we could not find the bikes, and it seemed like the worst possible feeling in the world to have worked so hard for the bikes and the license, and have it all shattered that day. We wandered around with our helmets in that parking lot looking and looking, as more cars left after the game it became much more obvious that they were not there.

Well, we must have looked pretty pathetic and obvious as a police officer stood beside his patrol car at the other end of the lot waiting for us to come over. By the time we got up the courage to go tell him our bikes were stolen he had this grin on his face like you would not believe. We were in the wrong parking lot. I felt like such an idiot. Like my father used to say, if you feel like an idiot, there is usually a good reason for it! Luckily, our bikes were in the other (now empty) lot on the other side of the building.

Jen: Sorry about your loss. In the big cities the police don't put a lot of time in chasing down these crooks.

In my immediate family of 4, all of us have lost a vehicle (in Philly) never to be seen again.

Somebody posted on this board about jury duty---Here is one for you.

About 30 of us were in a room and the first question the Judge asked the group "has anyone been a victim of a crime, please stand up". Everybody was kinda looking a round at each other. One person stood up.
The judge said that is amazing. "None of you prospective jurors had a vehicle stolen". Whoops ! ! ! Probably 85 % of the people stood up.

That is one of the reasons we now live in the middle of cornfields.

I hope you have much better luck----This is a serious crime. In Philly in was sort of Ho-Hum.

Nothing yet Deb. I found myself looking at every green truck yesterday and today. It was in the Liberty Medical Parking lot with at least 200+ cars and trucks. There are so many people going in and out of there. I sure hope the police have some tapes from LM's cameras, but they were the old WalMart cameras (that was there before LM took over), so who knows. If I hear anything Deb, I will let you know.

Thanks for posting this, Jen. Unfortunately, no news of the truck. We figure it's been stripped and they'll find the carcass eventually.

My DH just got off the phone with the insurance company. They said ours was the second truck they had reported stolen last week. If you have a truck and you live in South Florida, be careful. . .
