I am taking my parents to DW in September for free dining. It is my dad's first time to DW ever. It will be mom and dad's first time to really indulge in food they would not normally eat.

We all went through the TS places and they liked the looks of the food at Ohanas. I wanted to go, because the food looked good and I thought Stitch was going to be there. I have recently found out that dinner is not a character meal.

I have read really mixed reviews on here about Ohanas. I am really starting to doubt my reservation. I know if I am going to change it, I need to do it soon. What is your input? How is the food? How is the dinner entertainment? I have a 3, 7 and 11 year old. I am trying to have a top notch experience for my parents. For me, I want to enjoy myself too. This is only our second time doing DDP, so I am still having lots of new dining experiences. Part of the problem too, is that we want to stay close to MK that evening so we can go back for fireworks and the park after we eat dinner. We have already done LTT and loved it, but just wanted to do something new this time. We also already have CP booked for breakfast that morning.

Help me. I guess I am just looking for some confirmation either way on keeping the reservation, or changing it. Sorry for my rambling.

We love Ohanas.

The food is served family style and is yummy. They start out with an assortment of appetizers, including chicken wings, salad, and shrimp. The main meal consists of chunks of beef, turkey, pork, and sausage, served from skewers by the waitstaff. The side dishes are stirfry veggies and scalloped potatoes. You can have as much or as little as you like.

The dessert is one of the best bread puddings I have ever tasted (second only to the Artist Point).

The kids will be entertained by several rounds of games and "races" performed every few minutes throughout the evening.

We always have great fun there and it's a must-do on every trip.

If I were you I would keep the reservation. 'Ohana is a good family experience. We enjoy it a lot.

Alot, not all, of the complaints about Ohonas is people preferring the old menu instead of the new menu. I prefer the old menu also but we enjoyed the new items a few months ago. If this is your first time you won't miss what you never had. :thumbsup2

Keep your ADR, I think you and your family will enjoy it.

We tried Ohana's last year for the first time and loved it. We will be going back again this year. I think the difference for us is that we weren't there before the menu change so we didn't have anything to compare it to. Everything was delicious...the only thing that I didn't like was the sausage (DH loved it). I like to read the reviews that people like, but everyone isn't always going to like what you like. If it is something that your parents want to try, then I say go for it. It's a great family place to eat.

Thanks for the quick responses. I am going to keep the reservation. I am sure we will all find something we like. I won't know until I try it. It has been on my list for awhile now, but I was just a little leary with all the negative reviews recently. Thanks again for the usual great advice.

I took my mother there last week and we both enjoyed it. We didn't like the sausage much either, but there is plenty more to eat.

We loved it there...so much so that we ate there for two dinners during our last trip and enjoyed our last breakfast there. The food is tasty; the entertainment is fun.

If you decide to go, arrive early and ask to be seated near a window with a view of Cinderella's castle. It is just lovely!

We ate at O'hana in June and it was fantastic. I too had read mixed reviews before our visit and we had a wonderful experience. The service couldn't have been better, the food was delish (oh, those potatoes....) and my ds6 had a ball. I would definitely go back and would highly recommend it.

I've planned 'Ohana for our arrival night dinner at 8:10. I'm hoping to catch Wishes at 9:00 while we're there. My family won't be expecting it at all. They're newbies to WDW!

We absolutly loved Ohana. Unless you have your heart set on seeing the fireworks at MK I would suggest getting a late reservation at Ohana and watching the fireworks form there. We did not plan to do this and were disappointed in how late our dinner was until we saw the sun go down over the castle and then saw wishes. The music is played inside Ohana so you don't miss a thing. It was one of our best nights there.

We just returned from a week long trip to WDW and tried Ohana's for the first time. We LOVED loved it so much that we decided to go back the next night instead of eating at Sci-Fi dine in at MGM. We didn't have a reservation but we were able to be seated anyway and we were able to get a table near the window and see the fireworks right as the food was brought out. It was our favorite meal for the whole week.

We ate there March of this year and we loved it!!! Our kids 7&10 loved the coconut races and parade. Every dish they brought to the table was so good. The bread pudding dessert was to die for!!! I could eat there everynight of our vacation that would be 10 nights LOL! :rotfl:

'Ohana is our favorite restaurant at WDW. We love the food and atmosphere. We have been there a couple of times when we didn't think the food was as good as before, but we still enjoyed everything. I would definately recommend people eating here.

Ohana is a "must do" on every trip. We absolutely love the food and the service is usually very good. We had one trip where the service was horrible and DH said we would never go back - it was that BAD. However, I convinced him to try it again on our last trip and the service was very good. If we had bad service two times in a row, DH would have definately banished them from our dining list. So I strongly suggest that you keep your reservation, you will really enjoy it.

I want to change our Luau reservation to Ohanas for the week of August 20..last night they said it was totally booked with an opening at 9 pm...too late for a kid to stay up for dinner. Do I call every day hoping for cancellations?
I know if it rains they cancel the show, and we will be stuck on the last day of vacation with all those DDP credits hanging out there. Help! :confused3

I can't wait, saturday night we will be eating at 'Ohana. I will make sure to leave a review when we get back.

I never thought about seeing the fireworks there. Our res. is for 7:20 Friday, Sept. 29th
BUT there is no wishes that night, because of MNSSHP will I see any fireworks from that, around 8pm or so?

I dont know those fire w. hours . . . please advise

I just changed our House of Blues ADR to Ohanas for 8/30. I was able to get a 9:15pm seating time (no kids) and hope to see Wishes at 10pm. I still want to get to House of Blues but their menu was limited for a girl with a touchy stomach
