Please Help W/free Dining

Can someone please explain to me what the free dining I hear so much about really consists of and how you get it. We have been to Disney twice but have never stayed on site. We would like to stay on site next time and I've always heard a lot about people getting free dining but I don't really know what all it entails or how you get it. Thank you so much.

Free dining is a special promo that disney offers to guests.It is the disney Basic dining plan free, when you buy a magic you way pkg with resort stay at regular price.It is generally offered for trips at the end of August till end of Sept. only ( hurricaine season).It is usually annouced by Disney at the beginning of april.The basic dining plan gives you per person over age of 3...1 counter service meal, 1 Table service , and 1 snack per nights stay of your vacation. It does not incude gratuity or appetizer at Ts meal.

Some people will say it's not such a good deal because you have to pay full rate (no discounts) to get free DDP. For my family, it's a no brainer. We stay at a value resort (about $80-90/night) and if we had to purchase DDP for 2 A and 1 K it would run us about $86. You do have to buy a min. of a 1 day, base tix per person. For us that runs us about $215. We usually stay about 10 nights so that comes to $22/night for dining. All in all (for us) a good deal.

Also, you can upgrade your one day base tix to more days, options, or even an AP.

Ut - oh - I was going to book our trip for Sept using a code for 40% off moderates. If they do the dining plan then we won't be eligible for it because we used the discount?

Nope..it is either the 40% or the free dining plan, not both.Would be sweet though if you could.
