This year we upgraded to the Deluxe Dining Plan. As far as we understand, an appetizer is afforded on this plan. Our family usually does not order appetizers and would be gracious if you could help out. As of right now we plan on attending...
1. Whispering Canyon
2. Le Cellier or Chefs de France
3. Mama Melrose
4. The rest are buffets
5. If you have any additional places that you would recommend we would appreciate it

Last thing, does each person or each dining plan receive a dining plan?
Thanks for posting!

Do you mean, 'does each person on the dining plan get an appetizer'? Yes. As for recommendations, well, honestly, that's extremely difficult because tastes differ so much. Why not take a look at the menus here http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/disneydining.cfm and ask about specific appetizers?

I mean, at Le Cellier I like the Heirloom Tomato Stack - but what if you don't like cheese, or it's not offered when you arrive?

We did the deluxe dining plan this year and typically used our appetizer credit
for a salad except at Kona I got the crab cakes (marvelous) and at Planet Hollywood we tried the potato skins and the fried zucchini appetizers.

At buffets you get an app????

At wc many get the skillet, do you still get the app???

Hmm.....that is a LOT of food, :lmao:

Between Le Cellier and Les Chefs, I would def go with Le Cellier. I thought Les Chefs sucked. Mediocre food and mediocre service. Le Cellier was a much better experience, food and service wise. The steaks aren't anything special, but they are good. Our server, Jess, was fantastic. I had the tomato stack appetizer and REALLY liked it.

Yes at WCC you get an app even if you order the skillet. I would also agree with the tomato stack at Le Cellier, and that the food is certainly better there than at Les Chefs.
As far as other places, I would suggest:
1) Tutto Italia, (EPCOT)
2) O'Hana (Poly)
3) Boma (AKL)
4) The Plaza (MK)

Another strategy that we will be doing next year is only eating 2 meals per day. We went in September and found that the DxDDP was alot of food as I'm sure you have heard. We are early risers and found that by eating a big breakfast at 7:30 we really weren't hungry at lunch and could have done very well by just eating snacks at lunch.
On our next trip we will be booking a big breakfast such as Boma at 7:30 and then booking signature meals for dinner. That way we get to eat 1 really good meal that we are really hungry for instead of 2 meals that we're only eating because we feel like we have to. Some examples of great signature meals are Narcoosees, California Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Jikko, Artist Point, etc. And if you're worried about not getting your money's worth by doing this, in September our bill if we were paying by cash and not the DP would have been $260 before tip, no booze (3A, 1C).

Please consider doing signature dining. A great way to use your credits and have some fabulous meals.

I agree with PP, it is hard to eat 3 meals out every single day.

I encourage people to go to a local restaurant, have everyone at the table order 3 courses, then go walk at the mall for an hour. Welcome to DxDp :rotfl:

We couldn't do it, a good breakfast and a good dinner with a light midday snack was all we could handle, and I eat 3 meals a day at home. But a home meal is not the same as a restaurant meal

Have a great time and enjoy all the choices!:woohoo:

At buffets and all you can eat family style restaurants you get the full buffet or the full menu on the dining plan, no matter which dining plan you are on.

I love the escargot at Chefs. Usually do cheese soup at Le Cellier, but tried lump crab & sweet corn custard, which was divine. The ostrich filet at Jiko is to die for. Although it wasn't on the menu last month, the lobster rissoto at Cali Grill is one of my all-time favorites. I hope they put it back soon!

See, that's what I mean about recommending any dish being difficult because tastes vary so much. While everything jamstew likes sounds interesting, and I consider myself fairly adventerous, I wouldn't eat any of those appetizers!

Believe it or not, I'm not a very adventurous eater. I don't like African flavors at all and don't care for Moroccan or French food. I just happen to like escargot :goodvibes Ostrich is a very lean red meat, so if you like a good steak, you should definitely try it. I had the appetizer at Jiko and liked it so much that I ordered the ostrict entree at California Grill. Both were outstanding.

The flat breads are very good at Chefs de France, as is the Lobster Bisque.

For Le Cellier, definitely Cheddar Cheese soup. The mussels are also good.

As for buffets, they are a waste on the Deluxe plan, IMHO.

And yes every person on the Dining Plan receives the Dining Plan.:lmao:

Whispering Canyon - the southwestern chicken chowder was amazing

Le Cellier - love the caesar salad, the best I have had at WDW

or Chefs de France - the escargot and french onion soup are huge hits with us

Mama Melrose - the house salad with roasted pears and feta cheese...to die for!
