Please help!! Questions from a 1st time renter.

Hi. I'm hoping someone could help me out with some questions.

I was fortunate to find someone willing to rent points to me and I am staying at OKW from Dec. 10-16. The DVC member sent me the confirmation ages ago and I did get a verbal confirmation from the number I was given.

I certainly don't want to call Member Services as they are busy with actual members, but I thought I read somewhere that the DVC confirmation number is eventually placed in the WDW reservation system. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, if it is, do you know when it is added to the system. I have tried pulling up the confirmation number on the WDW website, but it's not showing.

I have also purchased my MYW tickets and was wondering if I presented them during check-in if the tickets could be added on to the key card (much easier to keep track of one card per person instead of two).

And lastly, we will be celebrating my daughter's 11th b-day while at the world. I have already ordered a cake at BW Bakery and will be picking it up. I was wondering if I would be able to inquire if the front desk could put it in our room afterwards so it would be a surprise for her. If not, I will find a way to hide it, but it would be easier (and would definitely be a surprise) if we left for our DR together and I didn't have to go back to the room because I "forgot" something...lol.

Non-members can no longer get confirmations from MS. Member Services is for members only, and they got real strict on that starting a couple of months ago.

Your reservation will not show up on the WDW site. This is a DVC reservation, not a CRO reservation.

Reservations are downloaded to the resort about 3-4 days prior to check-in. If you want to confirm, you can call the resort directly (not MS) and verify they have your reservation. The resort's telephone number should be on your confirmation letter.

You should be able to add MYW to your room key. And yes, they should be able to take care of the cake. Probably have a bellman take it up and if that's the case, a tip would be appropriate.

Yikes. I wasn't planning on calling MS anyway, but I am very concerned that I can't confirm with the resort because it's always a risk renting points (though I am very appreciative that I was able to do so) and for my own peace of mind it would be great to know more than 3-4 days out (particularly because we're going to be on a cruise before arrival).

Thanks. I'll try calling OKW about 10 days out as well then. I can always hope. I sent an e-mail to the woman who rented me the points, but haven't heard back from her. I'm a worrier, but if I know the reservation is still intact at this point, I'll feel a little bit better. Won't be completely over my worry until I actually check-in and am standing in the room.

The majority of rentals go off without a hitch, but be sure to check out the thread about on unscrupulous person who absonded with funds from several folks without giving them a reservation. If you have a confirmation letter, then I'd say there is nothing to worry about.

I do have the reservation number and the woman sent me the confirmation letter she had received from MS. Again, I'm not tooooo concerned, but I am a worrier by nature and until I am checked in, there will always be a tiny bit of doubt.

But thank you for the post. It does help to relieve some of my anxiety.
