We have booked in to POFQ for September with myself,DH,DD11,DS3 and 2 infants so a party of 6, whilst looking at the room plans am now beginning to think the room wont accommodate us all and cant find anything anywhere which says about a party with 2 infants. Does anyone know what the procedure is with this, is it best to just chance it with the room we have booked as disney were told of our party size, date of births etc or rebook another resort, any help would be much appreciated thankyou in advance x

As an architect and a construction manager, let me be the bearer of bad news.

Resorts base occupancy on the fire protection code. The fire protection code is based on years of research unfortunately predicated by accidents and their outcomes.

Occupancy is based on one or multiple children, and one infant. It is standard procedure that one parent will carry the infant and the other parent will guide the children to safety. The parent holding the child will not take up additional room.

Parents with two infants under the age of three will naturally tend to have one parent carry both children out while the other parent leads the other children out. In this case, a parent carrying two children will take up space in the fire exit corridor.

Therefore, the size of your party exceeds the room occupancy and must have two rooms or a villa. So I so not know you booked a room at POFQ unless you did not input the proper info.

From allears.net...

Maximum of four per room, plus a child under 3 in a crib.

You'll need 2 rooms or a suite (AOA or ASMu).

will Disney change over our accomodation before we get there or will we have to change when we get there? with the little ones trying to make trip as easy as possible xx

Even if they allow you to put all 6 of you in a room I wouldn't do it. There simply is not room for two cribs/play pens. It was a struggle with just one when my DD was little. i would look into a family suite at ASMu or AoA. You would have more room, a kitchen, two bathrooms and really, wouldn't be climbing over cribs.

thankyou MinnieSummer, I just thought when looked at plans that it looked small then the room occupancy issue came along, where found threads with one not two infants so worried slightly, I will call Disney when they reopen again tommorow, just hope they will refund the difference in price as they were told originally at time of booking of the details and those resorts are coming up cheaper, do any of the deluxe resorts fit six as would be happy to pay extra if they did too xx

Good luck!

I have changed resorts after booking many times and there is no problem with them refunding the difference. I have even changed resorts at the last minute for budget reasons and they gave me a credit on my CC. So no worries there.

Many of the deluxe resorts will work as they are designed to sleep 5. Two beds and a sleeper sofa. Contemporary Garden Wing rooms are huge and there is plenty of room for two cribs. Same with Poly. Maybe even BWI. I would avoid AKL and WL as those rooms seem smaller. I can't get a mental picture of the rooms at BC/YC but I am going to say it would be crowded but might work. Same with Grand Floridian. You could also consider a 1 bedroom DVC.

Hope this helps.

thats fab thankyou for your advice xxx

The family suites are are nice setup for a large family...two separate rooms, two TV's, small kitchenette with microwave oven, refrigerator, etcc. (which I would think would come in very handy! and the best feature...two full bathrooms!! They are located at All Star Music and AofA (probably less expensive at ASMu).

Take away the fire issue thing, but I would definately do a family suite..
this way you can get the child with 3 and the infants in bed early and you can relax in a separate room. Would also make life easier for child with 11. I am sure they wont be wanting to walk around on tip toe so the younger can sleep. or get double connecting rooms.

I would try to stay with FQ though, we were there last year and its smallness you will appreciate having to get a 3 yr old + 2 infants from point a to b..

Also since it's so small, I wouldnt have a problem sending my 11 yr old to the QS to get drinks etc..... other resorts are so spread out I would be worried he would get lost.

I would get 2 rooms at POFQ. Make sure to get the door that connects the 2 rooms from the inside. Not just next to each other.

The reasons are.

1) This is a smaller resort, easy to get to and from buses, pool and Food Court, and main lobby with the store.

2) We have stayed here many times, and buses are normally just for this resort but if you do have to share with POR, they pick up at POFQ 1st and drop off there 1st. There is also a boat to Downtown Disney which is a very nice ride.

3) The space would be so much more than trying to all get into a suite. Plus 2bathrooms, with counter space, and best of all 4 beds, not a pull out or a pull down bed.

4) 2 TV's which is nice so the 11 yr old can watch something while the little ones can watch something.

5) You can use the Pool and Food Court at POR - which is about a 5 min walk. Ole Man Island is really fun, and there Food court has some different offerings which is nice. You can check the menu's, here and over on allears.

6) During nap time or evening when the little ones are sleeping, you can still watch TV, and use the other door to go out if needed without waking them up. So if your with the baby's your DH can take the other kids to the pool and such. And come back with out disturbing anyone.

7) If one of the baby's wakes up in the middle of the night you can move around so not to wake everyone up. ( As a suggestion bring a couple of plug in night lights so that you won't have to turn on a main light to see.)

8) Looking at the amount of time you will be there, space is going to be important so that your not on top of each other all the time. You will need space to store the strollers, suitcase, and all the baby items. With 2 tables you can use one as a staging area.

9) The last suggestion you might want to use a grocery delivery service, this way you will not have to drag as much with you. Garden grocer is really good. You can order diapers, wipes, formula, snacks and bottled water, and it will be at the resort when you arrive or shortly there after.

2 rooms at a moderate or value resort would work. We love Por and POFQ. Or a deluxe would work.
Both CR and Poly have the largest room size. As mentioned, the garden wing rooms at CR are the same as the tower, just cheaper. Ask for a 1st floor patio room here, so you can sit outside after the kids are asleep. At Poly ask for a balcony or patio for same reasons. Some, but not all rooms at Poly have balconies. In some longhouses the 2nd floors don't have balconies.

CR has a benefit that you can walk to and from MK. With 2 strollers that is a huge benefit. And on monorail. Poly us just 2 monorail stops from MK, and has a short walking path to TTC for Epcot Monirail.

BC/YC rooms also have 2 Queens & daybed. They are decent size rooms and you can walk to 2 parks. Epcot is right next door, and DHS is a 20 min walk. Or they have a boat to the park too.

But with all these resorts, I just don't know the rules for 6, 2 infants :confused3 but if Disney is booking it, it must be ok?

Going with a villa will be very expensive. There are also the cabins at Ft Wilderness.

Do not worry about the walking if you go with the family suite as ASMu...the suites are all located in the Preferred buildings which are closest to the lobby and bus stop...I can't speak for AofA..
