please help! Need info. on a cheap rental car in Orlando!

Am now considering flying to Orlando vs. driving and not sure how to acquire a CHEAP rental car. We would be flying in on either Dec. 18 or 19 and then taking the cheapest transport available to WDW (2 adults and 2 kids) Any suggestions on the cheapest way to get from the airport to WDW?

Then would rent an economy car from Dec. 23 to Dec. 31. On the 23rd we would leave WDW (so would have to rent from a place close to WDW, not the airport) drive to the beach for a week and then drop the car back off at the Orlando airport on the way home.

You guys have been awesome in helping me plan so far, could anyone offer me any advice on how to acquire a cheap rental. I haven't booked the flight yet (and won't unless I can justify flying by getting a CHEAP rental).

So far I have looked at www.travelocity.ca and by searching all rental companies I have found the price of $491.54 for an economy car for Dec. 23 - Dec 31. This price is too high for me to justify the flight and need to find a cheaper rental.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Originally we were going to start our next trip Dec.29...the car rental prices were out to lunch. I couldn't get anything even close to reasonable. Tried every code I could think of, nothing worked.

If you think an economy car would be big enough for you, Thrifty has an economy car for $136 USD including all taxes for your dates. Use code AU02 ("A" "U" "zero" "two").

I have tried and tried the code on the thrifty web site and it won't accpet it? Any other hints on cheap rentals???

You have to split up your rental into two 4-10 day periods.

Did you check out mousesavers.com for codes? I got a minivan rental for Thrifty for $169 a week from December 6-14 using codes found there.

Thanks so much for all the info. I just booked with Thrifty and used code AU02. I had to book the ressie into two parts and will end up paying $241 US for the entire duration including fees and taxes. I think is a pretty fair price for 2 weeks over Christmas.
