That sounds so pitiful. But I know that this is the best place for me to turn for strength right now.

I'm feeling out of control this week. Mostly work stuff- I'm at a critical point in a *huge* technical project with deadline pressures looming, and I'm pretty much on my own with it. I have lots of people watching and expecting flawless results, but not helping me. Logically, I know that I can get it done, but there are just so many details that are hanging and that I need to work out. In the past, I've worked with teams on projects of this scope, but this time it's just me... the resources I would normally turn to for help are all deeply engrossed in other projects.

I'm feeling overwhelmed, underappreciated, and panicky. The stress is making me feel emotional, and I *really* don't want to show that at work. This is just not me.

I could use some strong happy thoughts and energy today. Thank you for understanding.

You can do it!! You will be successful!! Focus, breathe, relax.....

Hopefully just typing that message out was a good start at feeling better.

Just like losing weight, you have to try to get through this one step at a time. When there are lots of loose ends it feels like you'll never get done. Make a list (if you can) of what needs to be taken care of and start somewhere! As soon as you make a decision to tackle one of the things you need to do then you'll feel better. It will also be a great reward to cross the items off your list.

Don't feel underappreciated! While it's nice to be recognized, we have to look within to find our own motivation and appreciation. Be good to yourself, feel confident that you will get this done and get it done right, and know that once you are through, you will feel GREAT! :)

Here is something from my Muscle and Fitness Hers that I have been meaning to post. This is a quote from someone named Stacy Simmons in the Pep Talk section of the magazine:

"The guy who taught me how to train properly, Dennis Kirby, gave me some great advice, but his best was this: 'Never compromise yourself.' If you know you're deserving of something, or if it's something that you want that badly, don't settle for anything less than what you feel you deserve. It applies to every situation you come across in life."

Take a deep breath and say to yourself, "I can handle this" and then DO IT!!!! You have done great with your WISH challenge! You can do this too, Kathy!!!

Sending loads of "underwhelming" pixie dust your way! ;) hee hee! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Happy thoughts and positive energy on their way to you!

One step at a time, with a deep breath whenever you need it. I'm sure you'll "wow" them with the results.

Deep cleansing breaths....You can get through it....

Good luck sweety...

I agree - sometimes just writing down what stresses you helps to relieve it!! You will get through this and with great success!! Good luck to you - my thoughts are with you!

Kathy,
Though it is a great deal of pressure and responsibility, remember, you would not be given it, if your co-workers didn't think you could handle it. They obviously have faith in your ability to get it done. We here an the DIS know you can get through this, and we all can't be wrong. I can see why they have placed such confidence in you. You are a set your mind to it and do it person. I am smiling, just picturing you today, determined to see it through. I'll bet you are a vision. Like a finely tuned machine, set about the business you were made for! Go for it. Then go home and treat yourself to something special. Get your hair done, or get a well deserved massage. :) Sit back, knowing that you are a force all mighty!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Sending happy thoughts and prayers.

You will be able to accomplish your project. Just take it one day at at time and try not to let yourself get stressed over it. You may not have the people to assist you but they must believe in you that you can do this on your own. :D

When you are feeling stressed: Stop, take a deep breathe and count to ten.

Good luck to you.

Oh, Kathy, sweetie, you can do this! And with finesse! (did I spell that right?) Just chin up, toss your hair like a beauty queen and think in small steps, one foot in front of the other.

Think confidence, power, and calm.

Wishing you the best,

Linda

Kathy your gonna be fine girl. You can do it. I feel like this a lot sometimes but you'll get through it. Sometimes walking away and taking a water break outside is helpful to me. Sometimes you just have to leave it alone to get it done.LOL Get yourself some air and relax and your gonna be just fine. I know you can find the strength within yourself to pull this off.

Happy thoughts.....
1. Think of the words to "It's a Wonderful World" especially like the version by Louis Armstrong- click on the link for the tune! :)
http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/wondwrld.htm

2.Envision yourself at your next weight goal

3. For a creative jaunt- make a list of 20 things you'd like to accomplish this year i.e. some of mine- learn how to throw pottery, take a ride in a Jeep with the tops off, learn how to tend to my roses, go shoot some balls at a golfing range, take a picture of a hummingbird in flight, etc....

4. Imagine Tinkerbell sprinkling dust over your project

5. Let God babysit your anxieties- you just do what work can be done- remember do your best and be realistic about goals.

6. And envision yourself on your favorite Disney ride- for me it's splash mountain with Zippededodah playing!

Have a great week!!!
Tara

Kathy, I'm so sorry you're feeling so stressed out! I don't know how much more I can add to what everyone else has said, but I want you to know I'm thinking of you and sending good thoughts and wishes your way. You're obviously a very smart, capable lady or you wouldn't have been given this task, and I know you can get through it!! :)

Take a break, take a walk, close your eyes for a couple of minutes, and maybe it will help you refocus and replenish your energies.

Hang in there, we're here for you!! :teeth:

Hang in there... strong happy thoughts are gusting towards you as I type!

Take it a minute at a time..........

Thanks for the strong thoughts and sweet words. I'm feeling a little better- still exhausted and overwhelmed, but better. I'm glad I have an office with a door instead of a cubicle, because I was able to spend the morning working by myself with the door closed. I'm just not in any shape to work with people right now- too emotional.

I left the office at lunch and tried the BK Veggie Burger (it tasted okay, and was only 7 points!) and popped Elvis singing gospel songs in the CD player. It's hard to feel depressed when you're singing along with Elvis, windows up (of course!)

I did make good progress on the project this morning...

I do have a question for Tara:

Did you mean the tops off the Jeep, or... ? :p

I *am* feeling everyone's pixie dust. Thank you, my loser friends.

Kathy!

Hmmm, let me picture the Jeep without a top on (breastfed three children have lost 100 pounds before- my udders have bested some of the great watermelon crops of the South) I'm afraid the wind force would be hazardous to drivers around me or else my udders would get wrapped around me!
Nah, I think the JEEP without it's tops on would be a much safer ride. Now you should be feeling MUCH better! :) Cranking up my Louie Armstrong and dreaming of a convertible ride!
Have a much improved day!!
Tara

We appreciate you sweetie. I think you are an intelligent, sensitive and caring person and I know you help me everyday to meet my own goals.

Sorry you are experiencing so much pressure and stress at work. I hope it is all over and done with very soon. You will do just fine with this project, I'm sure of it.

Now, put a smile on that pretty face of yours, stand up straight and take a deep breath. It's going to be just fine, trust me.

You come and vent here on WISH any time, that's what we are here for. We are here for you, my friend, we are always here for you.

You wrote some wonderful things when I felt out of control, and I want to send you that same strenght you sent me. Just take it one step at a time. Can you break it down into segments? Hopefully you can close your door again tommorow and then get some more work done. If you are having a hard time and feel panicky again, close your eyes, think of all of us WISHers right behind you cheering you on, and then at the end of the day we will meet at the MK for just a little bit of Pixie dust.
