Okay, everyone. I've never eaten and these two restaurants and want to know peoples honest opinion of them. We have an ADR set up for Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre and hear that the food hasn't improved since our last visit, so I'm thinking of changing it to one of these two EPCOT restaurants and just having a late dessert at Sci-Fi instead.

So, what do you think? Which one is better?

Thanks in advance!
Jody

Do you prefer French cooking or real Mexican food? Note that SAI is not Tex-Mex.

I, personally, have never had either; but I'm always willing to try something new.

Chefs hands down!

San Angel has a beautiful atmosphere, but the food is just not that good.

We have been to San Angel Inn twice, and loved it both times. Very good food but we love Mexican food lots!!

We plan on trying the Bistro on our next trip.

I don't think you can go wrong with either place. Really. Its going to depend on what your taste buds screaming for. :teeth:

We love the atmosphere and food at SAI. That being said, we almost did Chefs in November (had the ADR and cancelled). If you are taking kids, I'd head to SAI. If not, Either place has nice atmosphere. Chefs will be quieter, though. I'd go look at menus and then go to mouseplanet for photos. I'm sure whichever you pick will be great.

Either of those will be a hundred times better than Sci-Fi, but I've read many negative reviews about the food at San Angel and plenty of good ones from Chef's.

We did SAI on our last trip. We loved the atmosphere but did not enjoy the food. We do love Mexican food but we didn't even eat everything on our plate. We have done many many Disney restaurants and this was the only place that we won't be going back to. That is just my opinion but I could pick Chefs!

I prefer SAI by far. The food is more authentic so that may lead to some neagative reviews. However, if you like mexican food "not american/mexican" than you will love it. IMHO I think the atomsphere at SAI is much better also.

San Angel Inn is just in my GD's words 'Nasty!' This from a Texas child who never met a plate of Mexican food she didn't love. Chips are just the round 'Tostidos' and the hot sauce is the same stuff they sell out front in the gift shop that you can get in any grocery store, and the food is just bad (as is the service). For some reason the people I'm with just keep wanting to go there. I took my elder son and GD in Jan '05 and we literally left our food on our plates (after complaining twice that it was cold--they took it back, but then brought it back cold again). Waiter was nonexistent and had to be waved down to get our ticket. Never asked why our plates were almost untouched.

My younger son and D-I-L wanted to try it last Sept (despite us telling them how bad it was). Again we left our plates almost full and had to go get a hamburger at the American pavillion and again the waiter at SAI never even asked why our plates were almost untouched. I guess they are used to it.

My mom can't believe the food can be that bad and wants to give it a try in Sept (just to see for herself). Oh well!

Run to Chefs!

We have eaten at both, and we loved both. I think we probably like Chefs a little better, though. Nothing wrong with the food at SAI, but it is definitely NOT tex-mex, it is authentic Mexican, which many Americans are not accustomed to. The atmosphere is great, though, and we would definitely go back.

We were leaning towards Chefs, but we will have our 2-year-old DS and he can be quite loud at times. We'd hate to ruin someone's dinner if they were looking for a relaxing, quite place.

Still not sure which one we're going to do yet... :confused3

WE have eaten at both..>SAInn....well the atmosphere is great but the food, is just not anything wonderful..in fact I get better mexican food in town here!
We gave it one last chance last year , we were seated and in the chair next to me, at our table, was an empty tv dinner container??????
I still have no idea why it was there and where it came from,lol....
But just was gross....
IF you want mexican food? Try that cantina outside along the water, MUCH better food.
I say go with Chefs de France...as many times as we have gone to DW, we just started eating there last year and we LOVE it...just delicious!

I vote Chefs!! We have had wonderful food there and terrific service. The dessert choices are yummy.
I wouldn't worry too much about a 2 year old, when we were there it was pretty bustling and noisy. I also saw alot of families with young children.
Go and have fun.

We like Chef have eaten here many times. Love their hot buns and soup. After looking at the menu for Mexico and how dark the room is we always changed our minds. Like Chef so much can't wait to go there again.  party: party: party:

This will not be much help to you, but thought I'd give my opinion. We have never eaten at Chefs but have ADRs for August. We also have ADRs for San Angel, and we have eaten there EACH and EVERY trip to Disney. My entire family absolutely loves it because of its atmosphere. The food is good, but nothing to rave about. However, the ambience is totally worth it.

SAI if you like "atmosphere" (we LOVE the place and, even, the food) and Chefs if you want somewhat better food with less atmosphere (personally, we don't really like Chefs interior much though nothing is "wrong" with it). A number of folks don't care for SAI's food; most seem to like Chefs' food. Neither restaurant is very consistent service-wise. We've had fine wait staff and poor ones at both locations.
