Please help me decide about NYE

DH and I have had reservations (offsite) for awhile for this weekend at WDW for NYE. We live in Tampa and are APholders so we are up there a lot. We've never been to a park for NYE and thought it would be fun to experience, but now that it's getting closer, we're starting to worry about how crowded it will be and how we will have to be there all day... We have dinner reservations at Epcot and were planning on spending all Friday there. What do you all think? Should we go for it?

I guess since we live close and can go anytime, we're wondering if it's worth it to go on one of the busiest days of the year.

I realize that many of the people in favor of going to WDW on NYE are probably already there!! But if anyone has been and has advice, or if anyone has advice in general, I would greatly appreciate it! We're completely on the fence right now...

THANKS!!

I too live in the Tampa area and I can tell you I was up there prior to 911 on NYE, so that was several years ago and I too was staying off site. My experience was terrible, it was very very crowded and since I was not staying on property and using their transportation it took me 3 hours to exit the parking lot (no lie!) it was a total mess. Of course things may have changed but I would never do it again, would much rather enjoy the parks at less crowded times. I too am a passholder so I can do it anytime also. With the weather expected to be beautiful this coming weekend I am sure it will be crowded. But if you do go enjoy! Pixie dust your way!

We were at MK on NYE six or seven years ago and it was a blast. It was crowded but they passed out noisemakers and had a great fireworks show at midnight. We have not been back at NYE since but that was a great trip and fun expierence.

We stayed on-site last year so it wasn't so bad getting back to our room. But if you are off-site and are going to have to get to your car and exit the parking lot, just be prepared for a long wait. If you are into being in the park for NYE it could be worth it. Only you know for sure.

I can't speak to your particular situation, we always stay on site and when we were there for NYE we made sure we stayed at an Epcot resort so we could walk to our room. I can say that I think Epcot is the best park choice for NYE. It seems to handle the crowds better and dispurses the crowds around the park with big screens & dancing at different locations. We spent the whole day in the park on NYE enjoying the food, the festive atmosphere, etc. It wasn't about the rides or attractions that day, just about the experience. It was great.

Thank you all for your advice and feedback! I really do appreciate it. I think we are going to cancel and maybe wait till next year when we can stay onsite.

We are still going to drive up just for the day tomorrow to see what it's like up there (since we already took the day off). I'll be sure to report back about the crowds.

Thanks again, and happy New Year

NYE??

Sorry, but it wasn't listed on the Dis acronym page.

I'm leaving for a NYE/early Januarytrip down tomorrow... While I am anticipating crowds similar to what I am used to over the 4th of July, I think it will be fun...
