I need some creative help from my budget minded friends!! We're having a small family reunion in the middle of June, and I'm trying to think of a cute party favor to give either when everyone arrives, or maybe the day of the reunion. We're having a BBQ outside at a local park, and there will be about 15 adults, about 5 kids. Budget minded is the key here, but I'd like something cute and crafty (but easy!!!) too! I thought about making t-shirts for everyone, but after buying the shirts/transfer paper/ink for my printer--that's going to be too expensive I think. A goody bag??? With what in it?? Of course they put the least crafty person in the family in charge of this. :sad2:
HELP!!

thanks

I bought the Mickey Mouse americana t-shirts from the DS. $5.00 each, they have sizes from 2/3 to xxl in adult sizes. I bought 24 of them for my family. Each of our families from my moms side wears a different color or shirt to identify their immediate family group.

These are not the regular t-shirts they have. They are a separate line for the 4th of July. It has a Mickey and flag on it. They are in an area different from the other t-shirts they have. They should be towards the front of the store. Regular price is $5.00.

How about making a Christmas ornament. One per family. Craft store should have some nice ideas - but you could probably find plain glass ones, a glass marker, write the year and "Smith Family Reunion" and tie some ribbon to the top for $1-$2 apiece. You could get something that you could drop a photo into for probably not much more.

Edited, cause I like this idea. A ceramic ornament with your family patriarch's wedding photo decoupaged (I'm not spelling that one right) to the front. So if you all have the same grandparents, get a copy of their wedding photo, make copies of it the proper size and glue it onto a ceramic ornament.

This isn't anything crafty or glamorous, but my cousin made wallet sized laminated cards with contact information for everyone in our family - my Mom has 6 brothers and sisters. She did this, not for a reunion, but during a time when my Grandfather was in the hospital for an extended period. It was something small and simple, but something everyone in our family really appreciated. I guess an extension of that idea might be a small address book with eveyone's contact information inside. Or a calendar with everyone's birthdays listed might be a nice thing. I am thinking of doing one of those for my Grandparents.

How about burning a bunch of CD's with family related songs! I could think of a ton of fun songs ~ here are a few oldies but goodies! Then in the cd case you could get crafty and make your own cover with the title...
"WE ARE FAMILY" 2006 :thumbsup2

"we are family" sister sledge
"you've got a friend" James Taylor & Carol King
"remember when.." Alan Jackson
"I hope you dance" Leann Womac
"celebrate"
"In the living years"
"the stuff that dreams are made of" Carley Simon

Okay I'll stop! Good luck!!! I love planning fun stuff like that! Have a blast! :goodvibes

How about ordering pens with the family name printed on them. Nationalpen.com or some place like oriental trading has them. I still have my reunion pen from 2 years ago. At least it's useful! :thumbsup2

My recommendation would be to purchase a small matching frame for everyone who will be there. Take a digital family photo as soon as everyone arrives. Find somebody in the family who is willing to bring a printer the park and print out a copy of the photo for everyone right on the spot. As people are leaving you can hand them each a framed family photo.

Wonderful ideas........really, they all are!
Bumping up for some more too!! :Pinkbounc

We4mickey--I still can't find those darn shirts. I found the Memorial Day ones that are $9.99, but can't find July 4th. Do you have an item# you could send me? Or a page it's on?? I'd love to see those. Thanks

Disneyshopping.com has the Disney Logo tees 9.99 for adults and 6.99 for kids. There is a coupon code for 25% off (SUMMER25) - you have to be logged in to use it. There is also free shipping over $75. Not sure if that fits your budget - adult shirts for $7.50 and kids for $5.25. They come in several sizes and colors. Americana tees are also 9.99 before coupon, but they are only adult sizes.

I would contact each member and ask for a favorite recipe. Make copies and lamanite it. Tie each with a small ribbon and put a picture on the front of the grandparents.

great idea!! I just looked and they are back up to $9.99---too much for me to buy 20 shirts at that price. thanks anyway!

For our family reunion my great great aunt made jelly jars full of candy for everyone. She cross stiched sherman family reunion 2004 on some fabric and then attached it to the top between the cover and the ring. I dont think it cost very much and you could always print something out on the computer and put in on the top instead. I now use the jar for sea salt in the kitchen and think of the reunion everytime I open it. If it works this is a photo of her jars.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I honestly don't understand the appeal to getting Mickey/Disney shirts as a souvenier for a family reunion that isn't being held at WDW. If the reunion is going to be on July 4th weekend I can understand getting the Americana shirts, but I still think something personalized to the reunion would be nicer.

I realize that most people who frequent this website are Disney fanatics, but the vast majority of the population are people like me...we like Disney and think it's an awesome family trip, but we don't live and breathe Disney every day of our lives. Most people don't care a bit about Disney and many adults wouldn't be caught dead in a Mickey shirt unless they were on vacation at WDW.

I really think if you wanted to go the t-shirt route that you'd be much better off going to a printer and having personalized shirts made with the family name and date. I just don't see the correlation between MIckey Mouse and a family reunion that isn't being held at Disney.

The preference is that our family is a Disney family and every one of our relatives knows it. We have to pick a tshirt or color to represent our immediate family. My family is more interested in wearing these shirts than the purple ones we had last year. Especially the guys.

There are many things that we do at our reunion that have to do with family and memories. We are asked to bring pictures every year. We have several albums and family history that are there for everyone to look at.

These shirts are available at the Disney Store, not online for anyone that is interested for $5.00 each.

Our reunion is in July and I was going to tie-die shirts for all the kids (get the shirts for $2 at Walgreens). Then I decided to tie die socks red and blue (it's over the Fourth)! I got a pack of three for $2 at Walgreens. I thought it would be fun.

But I am not "in charge" of the memory. If you are looking for a memory I would request the recipes and have them done up before.

Have fun - this is fun thread with lots of great ideas!

This year we went to M&M's.com, and we bought personalized M&M's with our Last name on them, then...we wrapped those as we would in cute little tulle bunches and attacted a note to them, which read "Johnson Family Reuinon Picture to arrive in One week" I had a friend show up at a certin time and take a great picture of everyone at the reunion and then doctored the pic up and sent it off at Walmart.com's photostudio for one hour processing on 5x7's, matted them, framed them and sent along to our relatives. I think some of them still think we paid for a photographer to come take the picture. The whole project was a BIG hit and it cost us less than $75. (we had about 20 people attend)
