I would love to do a CS meal plan only. We did the DDP on our last trip for the first time and were not impressed. I want more flexibility with our time at the parks. Do you guys think it has/will be considered?

I would love this too. We do a couple of TS meals but mainly eat CS. We like to eat on the run and not waste loads of time sitting down to a long meal whilst we are in the parks. The DDP is too expensive for us, eating only CS and the headache of working it all out would be too much for me too.;)

We (Me, DH, DD10, DS13) went 9 days to WDW last January and the only non-CS meal we did was at Biergarten, the German restaurant at Epcot.

We prefer to have a sit-down dinner after and out of the parks.

What we recomend ( you can check the menus at allears.net) :

- MK : Cosmic Ray Starlight Cafe, Peco's Bill Cafe, Casey's Corner (hot dogs), Aloha Isle (ice-cream), Sleepy Hollow (Funnel Cake).

- Epcot : Electric Umbrella, Boulangerie Patisserie, Liberty Inn, Margarita Stand, Sunshine Seasons

- AK : Pizzafari, Restarantosaurus.

- DHS : ABC Comissary, Rosie's All American Cafe, Catalina's Edie

If you go to other parks :

- IOA : Cafe 4, Thunder Falls Terrace, Burger Digs, Fire-Eater's Grill

- USF : Louie's Italian restaurant, Richter's Burger & Co., International Food and Film Festival, Schwab's pharmacy

- Busch Gardens : Don't remember the name, but it's a big CS in the Timbuktu Teather.

We too eat evening meals out of the park. We go early, leave early and go someplace else to eat. There are so many great places out there that are much nicer that some of the TS at WDW (cheaper too). There are some great CS at the World as you posted, it's not only burgers and chicken fingers. I don't think I could eat a full meal and then carry on round the parks. I like to eat a big meal and then go back to my room and chill out. I like to eat when and where I like, I can't be bothered with ADR's etc. and then having to be in the right places at the right time. I love to be spontaneous, some days we don't even decide what park we are going to till we get to the bus.

Some of our fav places off-site are Tony Romas, Olive Garden, Bennighans, Black Angus and our kids love places like Ponderosa, Golden Corrall etc. where they can try lots of different things from the buffet.

Gabriel, did you like International Film and Food Festival at US? Not sure if we caught it on a bad day, but the food was terrible, it was cold and rubbery, we couldn't eat it.

I dont think Disney would consider a CS only Dining plan was they woudn't make so much money from it. I think that now you can sub a TS for a CS (not quite sure but it is what I understand), but it is not worth it pricewise for us to do this.

I think the folks on this board can help you with good information.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

We are DVC members and go a few times per year. We normally eat 2-4 TS meals per trip. I would love a CS dining plan too. With the changes to the DDP, we will no longer be purchasing. A more mederately priced plan would work much better for us...Are you listening Disney??? ;)

in Fantasy Land. They have good salads, a great Turkey paninni and figaro fries....yum!!! Right next to Small world.

I'd like a plan that's a bit more adaptable -- you buy the TS, CS & snack credits sort of a la carte. If you're buying meals for 6-8 days & maybe only want TS 3 days or so, it would still be possible. I'm imagining a world where everyone isn't a slave to the ADRs!

I'm no expert, but I don't see Disney offering one.

What would they gain from it? If anything, it would encourage more families to opt OUT of the restaurants and into the CS places-- less money for Disney. One of the key advantages of the DDP is that it's easy-- your meals are pre-paid. They do NOT want that advantage to extend to the less expensive CS places.

Sometimes it's hard to remember that this is a business. Sure, they're out to keep people coming back. But their primary objective is to make money. And a CS only dining plan won't do that as well as the one currently in place.

You are right they wouldnt make much from it. But it wouldn't encourage me to opt out of the TS because I dont go to them anyway. So they wouldnt lose anything from me. :confused3

Maybe rather than do a DDP for CS, they could have meal deals like they do at Universal, so that If I am going to be in Disney for the day I can purchase a deal that lets me eat two CS and a snack/drink per day. Surely this would only encourage us quick eaters to have two meals in the parks, rather than go off-site for one later. I would normally have breakfast elsewhere, eat a late lunch in the parks and have a late dinner elsewhere. This could be offered on a day to day basis and be bought at the first CS you go to.

Any more suggestions for fresh CS food beyond burgers and chicken fingers?

TIA

I've heard that Columbia Harbor House in the MK has good sandwiches and a quiet atmosphere. Also, Sunshine Seasons in Epcot (The Land) has a lot of good and healthy choices.

I think if they do that it will be something like what Disneyland has, strictly a prepayment plan for convenience, no savings involved (unless they want to offer it for a promotion). The only reason anyone would need a CS dining plan is so they could prepay and wouldn't have to carry money.

I'm the opposite. I would rather have a Table Service/Snack plan only.

I found most Counter Service meals to be low quality food. The breakfast sandwich at the ABC Commisary was dry and not tasty. The pre-packaged cold chicken sandwich from Seasons at Epcot was simply gross with hardly any chicken. I ended up throwing most of it out.

Our family wasted SO MUCH food on the Counter Service. We ordered Pizza and stuff at the Animal Kingdom Pizzafari. My kids ate one slice of the pizza and we threw the rest out (what Dad could not eat).

The last day we had 10 counter services left over. We ended up getting PB&J sandwich meals and ate those on the long drive home.

The Deluxe plan can be used exclusively for table service meals, so they've already got one of these. (It could also be used exclusively for counter service meals, but the price precludes that).

Ok -- Isn't the Deluxe plan two table services per day though? That would be too much I would think both on the stomach and the wallet!

The items below are neither burger nor dog. They are varied and some are healthier than others. If it's listed below, either Corey or I tried it and liked it quite a bit. We are doing a lot of CS in December. I don't want to do the DDP again. The value is just not there for us.

Animal Kingdom
Flame Tree: BBQ Chicken Salad
Pizzafari: Hot Italian Sandwich
DHS
ABC Commissary: Cuban Sandwich with Black Bean Salad or Asian Salad
Catalina Eddie's: Chicken Caesar Salad
Flatbread Grill: Chicken Caesar Wrap
KRNR: Orange/Pineapple Smoothie!
Epcot
Electric Umbrella: Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Sunshine Seasons: Grilled Salmon
Rose & Crown Pub: Fruit & Cheese Plate
Magic Kingdom
Cosmic Ray's: Club Salad and Chicken Noodle Soup
Liberty Square Market: Baked Potato
Pecos Bill's: Chicken Wrap

I remember that Animal Kingdom had kind of a one-day CS meal plan, a few years ago. If I remember correctly, it was around $12 and got you a counter service meal, drink (and I think dessert) and a snack (popcorn, ice cream or bottled drink). Of course meal prices were somewhat less then too!

I think it was an "ok" deal for adults (saved a bit of money), but a better deal for kids who paid a lot less for it.

I don't think you had to buy one for every member of your party, and you could just purchase them at the park.

We never tried it, but it seemed like a good way to have a fixed cost for eating at the AK.

Deluxe plan is three meal credits per night of stay that can be used for either table or counter service. Signature meals and dinner shows are still 2 credits, so 3 credits could get you a buffet breakfast and a signature dinner.

If you don't want to eat counter service and two TS are too much, are you looking for a plan that is only one table service meal and a snack? What's the difference between that and just buying a table service meal?

I'm in. I want a plan with just the counter services. We enjoyed our counter services better than most of our table services. I hate having the reservations, how did I know 5 months ago I would be hungry at that time?
We plan to go during September hoping for the free dining, but we will use several of the ts for cs. My favorite counter service is Peco Bill chicken wrap.
