why do so many move hotels in the middle of their trip, isn't that hassle?

I've never done it, but I can tell you why I'm considering it! :teeth: Since there are so many resorts in WDW, I'd like to experience a few of them. It'd be nice to experience two resorts in one trip. I would imagine that the hassle of switching really isn't that bad.

Having the experience of 2 different resorts, makes me feel like I have 2 vacations to look forward to and plan for!

In my case, I Love the EPCOT resorts area and my husband loves the MK Resorts area- so in certain instances, we split the stay and do 90% at one resort (usually EPCOT resorts) and then 1 or 2 nights at a MK Resort.

Whatever you choose, make sure it is what works best for you! :)

Have a MAGICAL TRIP ....

It seems like too much of an inconvenience to me. We were a forced relocation once, which of course didn't please us too much, but even then I didn't like that we were homeless/roomless for hours. It was a rainy day, and I don't think we were able to get into our new room until close to 5 p.m.

Other people seem to love switching between resorts and don't find it an inconvenience at all. I admire their flexibility, and they get to try out the different themed accommodations available. I'd rather settle in and relax at one resort.

.. in my case some of my trips I took.. The room is not offered throughout my whole stay, so I had to book 2 and sometimes 3 different resorts. And when I book 3 different stays, it is because I want to try something new, we could stay there again next time if we like it.

Like right now.. I am booked at Poly, WL, and POFQ. I couldn't get POFQ for all my stay. And I can't get WL for all our stay. So I am doing split between POFQ and WL. And I am throwing Poly with it so I can try it. It is no hassle for us. We have done it before many times. We live off our luggages and we take the taxi to transfer. No big deal. We like staying at different resorts in one visit.

One time, we stayed at 4 different resorts in 9 nights. HRH and RPR at Universal, then CBR and CSR. It was crazy.. but we did it.

I never would have considered it before reading these boards, but we'll be doing it in October.

For us, we really want to stay at AKL, but we have ot get two rooms and can't afford that for 7 nights, so we're planning to spend 3 nights at POP and 4 at AKL . AKL is a suprise for my 7 yo son :)

starting at the Marriot at Universal 2 days there
Switching to the Swan for 4 nights, but we have a car, so no big deal,
Last 2 nights will be at AKL savanah view.

reasons are...Marriot is free (redeeming points) going to universal those 2 days.
Swan, got a great rate, booked in January This is our favorite resort.
My 50th birthday is that friday, so as my special birthday treat, we are then switching to AKL.( I have always wanted to try it)
No one else likes to be that far away from all the action, so 2 nights there seemed about right. We will save animal kingdom and blizzard beach for those days.
We travel really light, so moving is not a problem. Helps that I am the only female in the group!

I do it to enjoy the differences in resorts, sort of like having two different vacations in one. As I am single or traveling with another adult, it is really easy for us to pack up (generally in 20 minutes or less), call bell services and have our luggage moved for us. We head off to a park, then catch the bus back to the next resort and wait a few minutes in line to check into the next room then go exploring the new resort. I guess I am used to doing this as most of my trips have been split trips especially when I hit my 20's and took more interest in the resorts (prior to this I was just another person staying in a room jumping in the pool and hitting the parks all day long). In 2003, I stayed 8 days at PORS (and I also stayed at two other resorts briefly during the same time) and loved it but thought after the first 5 days (being that I had used the pool, slide, hot tub, quiet pool, laundry, rented a bicycle to tour the resort, boated to DTD at least twice not to mention caught Bob's show a couple of times and ate in the sit down restaurant a couple of times) that I could've checked into another resort and explored it too.

I also am money conscious and feel that if I am paying more to stay at any resort, then I will get my monies worth out of the resort. For instance, if I stay at AS then I will hit the parks heavy on those days then if I check into a Deluxe (WL) then I will spend more time at the hotel enjoying what I've paid for and less time in the parks (maybe even one whole down day enjoying the pool). I know people love to stay at the same place but I find I am happiest having a little bit of everything.

very interesting, I may consider it because I can't get por for the entire stay for this upcoming trip.

we split POP and WL last week....4 nights each

for us, we always wanted to try a deluxe (specifically WL) and couldnt afford it the entire time. I got a code to discount the WL stay and then booked POP under the same code for an amazing rate (like $55 a night or something)......so I got to try WL without paying for the entire week.

and we did most of our commando style park hopping the first few days at POP and then slowed down when we moved to the WL to enjoy the deluxe

Ours was also because the hotel couldn't accomodate us...

For the time we wanted. So we stayed at SOG Sat to Thurs and moved to CSR for Thurs to Sat.

The best part was our rooms at CSR were ready for us at 8am!

We have done it and all I can say is "too many resorts, too little time!" :)

One year, we could not decide where to stay - so we split the stay between BCV and BWV. It was easy to do, so we did it again on another trip when I wanted to try Wilderness Lodge before we headed to BCV.

Disney will move your bags. You just take them to the bell hop (or whatever they are called) and then go do what you want. When you go to check in at the next hotel, you bags will be there - usually in 2-3 hours. If you have a car, you can do it yourself... but I prefer to head to the parks and let Disney move my stuff. It is quite painless really. Plus my kids then get to try out different pools. :)

Last year we did 3 nights at HRH, 8 nights at GF. This year we're doing 2 nights at Nick Hotel, 11 nights at GF, and 4 nights at HRH. We've never changed resorts at Disney, but I think we might try it next year. I just wouldn't change Disney resorts unless I was staying at least 3 or 4 nights at each.

i was wondering the same thing myself, but it sounds like a good idea, but I wouldn't do it until my youngest was a little bit older.

When we stayed at BC, we loved the proximity to Epcot and MGM but weren't too fond of the bus trips between BC and MK. Likewise, when we stayed at GF we found travel to the MK to be delightful, but missed walking out the back of World Showcase after Illuminations.

In my mind's eye, a split stay would give me the opportunity to enjoy the best that each park/resort area has to offer. Haven't done it yet but would love to see a GF-BWI-AKL split in my future! :teeth:

We have split resorts numerous times over the years, just depends on circumstances. Last May we wanted to stay at POFQ but wanted to try POP. Since our flight got in late afternoon to Orlando we booked POP for first night, got to see the resort that night and in the morning, then checked into POFQ in the afternoon. Added a little something to the trip to see a new resort, glad we did it.
