Please explain, who IS "Joe Six-pack?"

I think...the Palin's net worth is actually reported to be BETWEEN $880k and $2.1 million. This includes their home and business.

Biden's home alone is worth $2.5 million....not that any of this really matters.

Are you begruding anyone the American Dream? This is something the Palin's worked for and earned. It wasn't given to them. Where's the problem?

**EDITED TO ADD** The Palin's income was $166,495. This isn't even rich by Obama's standard.

Nail. Head. Direct hit.

Palin was at Starbucks on Saturday drinking mocha. What happened to drinking Bud & Coors with Joe Six Pack? Maybe that's why she put her foot in her mouth attempting to quote Madeline Albright.

Maybe not, but it's about 6.5x my income, so it's rich by mine.

I have nothing against the rich, I just don't like when they claim to be at a lower level than they are (like the whole Friends cast debacle).

So if you drink beer you can't drink coffee too?

You know, not directed at you bimshire, but if you don't like Sarah Palin, don't vote for McCain/Palin. Just like if you don't like Joe Biden, don't vote for Obama/Biden.

I am quite sure that most of the members of the DIS are smart enough to figure the metaphor of "Joe Six Pack" as being the "average" American. All this "baloney" of "does this means she thinks the average American is an alcoholic" and all the other "wide eyed innocent" statements are just more politcal fodder to discredit her, just as "Barack Obama's middle name is Hussein which means he mist be Muslim and is going to let the terrorists take over the country" is meant to discredit him.

There are HUGE issues going on in this country and the Amercain people's discourse is about what a political candidate's meaning is behind a phrase that has very obvious meaning, or what kind of glasses Sarah Palin wears or why Barack Obama was raised in Indonesia, or why Joe Biden only claims a net worth of $300K or why John McCain's left cheek always looks swollen. Am I the only person who sees the ridiculousness of all this?????????

We deserve the country we get, and the leaders we get. I swear, if the DIS is a cross section of America, then I understand why we have gotten the leaders we have gotten. We can't have an intelligent political discourse about issues without it denigrating into mud-slinging, name-calling, and "points" about totally non-essential issues like the color of John McCain's shirt or whether or not Joe Biden got hair plugs.

You are oh so right.....

I bet if you adjusted it for Alaska's high cost of living it would look a little more in line..........

It obviously bothers you to some level or you wouldn't have posted about it. Some begrudge the fact some have achieved the American Dream. That's what I think is so great....the opportunity to make a better life. Just because one has acheived it doesn't mean they have forgotten their roots.

I know... I still remember how many macoroni and cheese dinners I had....and on special occaisions we added tuna. I remember our big friday night splurge was renting a movie and ordering in pizza. We now have a nice home and a dvc membership. My husband worked all day and went to school at night. We started a small business on the side....and had four kids. We worked hard and saved. We are lucky to have the opportunity to make a good life.

One of the biggest compliments I ever received was at a party. We held it at our home for my daughter's 5th grade class. The teacher made the comment that they didn't know we had such a nice home.....that we seemed to be just like everyone else. We have been successful in life but, don't think my values have changed because of it.

I'm not bothered by her income at all. I would expect a politician (especially one who runs a state or country) to have a large income as well as being good with finances.

I have a degree in digital graphics and web design. While I could find a job where I would make a lot more money, the job I currently am in offers cheap health insurance as well as being a job a love. I would much rather have a no-stress job I enjoy (but pays the bills) than make a lot of money and be miserable.

We are fortunate. We have jobs that we love and are rewarding financially.

Oh good grief.

I would be perfectly ok with "average Joe". As long as it wasn't connected with a wink.:rotfl2: The winks were like she was at a bar for a 2 AM booty call. Maybe the six pack guy was her booty call.:rotfl2:

I had not really heard Joe Sixpack before Palin. Excuse my mental image going a different direction.

Pardon me for being sensitive to images of a guy drinking a six pack. Not a healthy image to be certain. Maybe I am being too politically correct, but I have seen too many peoples lives ruined by excessive alcohol consumption.
You're right. It isn't healthy. And it smells really bad. But I'd rather hang around Joe Six-pack than Joe I've-seen-many-lives-ruined-by-alcohol-consumption. Joe Sixpack is more fun.
