please explain the postcard

Could someone please explain how you get the post cards? I never knew about these. thanks

I received a postcard back in 2001 and have no idea how I got it. It seems that Disney targets certain areas and sends out these postcards with great rates and there really isn't a way to make sure you get one. Disney will also send out e-mails to select people with great rates. You might be able to up your chances of getting an e-mail rate by registering with disney.com, but there is no guarantee. Like I said, I did absolutely nothing to get a postcard and I got one, so maybe one day you might too

When we found out that DH's daughters were headed to WDW for a cheer competition, I started calling to get rate info immediately. I think I started calling in August or Sept for our 2/27 - 3/6 trip. I can't begin to guess the number of times I called to check AAA rates, package rates, AP rates, rates for different hotels, info on WOS. By Oct. they had a list of EVERY call I made, and every inquiry I made. In the end we had decided to stay at the Dolphin with the AAA rate, but booked directly thru the Dolphin.

My guess is they knew I was headed to WDW for a cheering event, and hadn't made a ressie yet to stay at Disney. The postcard was valid for the dates I needed, so now we have 2 ressies, one for the Dolphin and one for POR. Still trying to decide.

The only "hitch" to my theory, is that the postcard came in my old last name, pre 2002, but under my current address, we moved in 5/03. The last time I was at Disney was 1999, but stayed at SOG with my parents. So not sure how they put the old last name with the new addy.

I use to recieve postcards all the time, years ago now I just jump online to get the best rates.
