Please explain Memory Maker sharing to me...

I am going down with my daughter, a friend and her daughter and we would like to share the memory maker cost. If she orders it I know that we can link our MDE accounts and can both download all the pictures to our accounts. I guess I don't understand how you "share" the purchase, though. If she is the one who has purchased it on her account, how can I download the pictures?
I'm not getting how it works...

You will all be able to get pictures taken (whether you are together or separated at the time) and they will all be visible in the photopass area of your MDE account and hers. You will be able to see your friend's photos and vice versa.

When you are ready to download the photos after your trip, only the person who purchased the Memory Maker can do the download for free. Also, even though all can see the photos under their own login and can do the edits like adding borders and stickers, only the edits performed under the purchaser's login will be available for free download. If your friend logs in with her username, and edits the pictures and then tries to download them, she will be prompted to pay for them.

To share the final pictures, you can either get together to do editing and download everything; you can download all for your friend and burn a CD for her; you can give her your login and password and let her edit and download for herself.

I bought Memory Maker and shared it with my daughter and her family. All of us had to be linked in MDE as family. Everyone could see the pictures but only the person who bought MM could edit or download the pictures. You can assign the download privileges to another member of your group if you want to. Only the designated person would be able to see the edited pictures. So the designated person would have to download the pictures for the others in the group and then give them to those people.

But everyone in the group is free to buy all the pictures they want.

Just make sure she gives everybody with their own MDE account permission to add photos and view the photos under her "My Family and Friends" list.

Thanks for the information! That is what I was afraid of - that only one of us could edit/download pictures. We live in separate states, so the getting together to do it won't work. Guess we will just have to both buy it...

That's a lot of dough to spend just for editing. . . I only really edited the ride photos so that they included a border with the ride name, and a couple borders around a few specific other pictures. Maybe you could just have her make a list of the edits she'd like and you could make them if it's not a ton. . . or share login/password (and you can change the password after if you'd like). . . if no one wants to make edits, you can just download and burn a CD or save to a thumb drive & mail.. . just trying to save someone $170

Most of the time, the "edits" people speak of are adding Disney-specific borders, or "autographs" to the character photos.

It is not editing in the sense of red-eye, etc.

I shared login and password with DDIL last trip and she was able to go in and edit the same way I did. When we were both finished, I ordered the CD.

Or is there something I can do so that we will get all those photos as well as the ones taken while I am there with her...

Her trip is from Oct 22nd to Nov 1. and my trip is from Oct 25 to Nov 1.

The fact that you're on different reservations doesn't matter. As has been stated, only one of you will be able to do the downloads (that person is "in charge" of Memory Maker), but as long as you're on each other's Friends and Family list and the person who is in charge has given the other person permission to add and view pictures, you'll be fine.

Great that's what I thought too, but somebody else told me we had to check on the same day/or I had to get there 1st...

You can both go in and do borders/stickers. She just needs to let you go in under her account name and password (which shouldn't be an issue since you are friends - it can be an issue for strangers who want to share).

After she downloads the photos, she can share all of yours with you in a variety of ways (Dropbox or putting them on a CD for you being the easiest). Don't pay twice!

If yo're all on one MDE account, no additional rooms, only one account in the room with everyone's name listed under it, you don't have to do anything else. All ride photos will be captured and any of your Magic bands can be scanned by the photographers when you do posed pictures.

I think if we are all linked on MDE - listed as friends and family and put down that we can share/view each other's photos, then we can each scan our bands and the pictures will all show up in the account that bought the Memory Maker. Is that right?

Only the person who purchased the MDE will have their name attached, but all on the MDE will be able to use it and have their bands recognized, per Disney CM.

Heading to Disney in a few months and just making sure that I am following correctly. We have a on-site room reservation, as do my in-laws. We are linked as family in MDE and it says they "Can Add & View All Plans". If I purchase Memory Maker, my in laws should be able to have photos taken on their own, and have them added to my MDE?
