Please explain DDP and Pepper Market

We're considering staying at Coronodo in 2008 and getting the DDP. However, after reading the Pepper Market offerings on the AllEars menu, I'm a bit confused as to how the DDP works there. Can anyone explain? (I'm sure that it will be spelled out at the resort, but we're still trying to decide if we want to stay there or not). Anyway, thanks in advance! :goodvibes

Everything at Pepper Mkt is CS, despite the fact some of it is more expensive than any other CS meals you'll find in WDW. The 10% tip is also covered by the DDP (now, and probably in 2008: I think it's just the 18% TS tips that the plan is dropping on Jan. 1).

When you go to Pepper Mkt., you wait to be seated, and a CM brings your drinks - you can fill your own re-fillable mug if you want, or they'll usually do it for you if you want. You're given a menu and cards you take to the counters, and when you ask for something the CM behind whichever counter you're at will mark the card, and give you your food. You sit down and eat it, and present the cards to pay at the registers when you're finished (or earlier, if you want). If you have questions on what's covered by the DDP, or whether you can combine certain snack or a la carte items as a CS meal, etc. you can ask the CM at your table, a CM behind the counters, or one of the managers you'll see roaming the floors.

By the way, Pepper Market still has its own mugs, unlike all other resorts which now use the same generic ones.

Thank you SO much ExtinctDino - this was exactly the explanation I was looking for. DH really wants to stay there, but I'm still on the fence. It sounds like the food court runs like a well-oiled machine, so hopefully my concerns of it being complicated are unfounded. Anyway, thanks again!

Non-Disney owned restaurants, including Pepper Market, aren't listed as 2008 participating restaurants. I'd be very surprised if they're not in the final listing but the 2008 brochure specifically excludes gratuities and I have no reason to think Disney will make an exception for the Pepper Market. I'd expect to pay the 10% tip out of pocket.

Agreed. Since we'll be paying OOP for the tips anyway, we'll definitely be prepared to do the same at the Pepper Market as well. I think that my decision now hinders on whether or not it's added to the final 2008 DDP plan. We'll see.

Pepper Market takes a little getting used to if you've been to several of the other resort food courts. The food courts at Pop (value), CBR and PO (moderate) and AKL (deluxe) were all basically similar, although food choices were somewhat different. Pepper Market is different, and has somewhat more limited selection, especially for breakfast - e.g. you can get waffles but not pancakes or French toast. But the choices, especially for lunch/dinner, are somewhat more upscale.

Lunch/dinner dessert is more complicated than it needs to be: some desserts are excluded from the DDP, and you have to aks to know which ones.

We ate there last week for an early dinner. The BEST use of a counter service credit! They were very nice in expaining what we could get on the DDP. There was one section of desserts to pick from. My son got a HUGE cinnamon roll. We also had fajitas, ribeye, a cheeseburger, and my youngest got pasta with a side of chips, since he did not want fruit. The steak was pretty good. They cooked it right in front of me.

We ate there on our last trip and used our cs credits. It was very confusing, but we made it through. Like someone else said you get a card, and when you get your food they stamp it. You still get a meal, drink, and desert, you just have to make the hard decision of what meal, there is so much to choose from. The deserts are devine. But honestly I wouldn't eat there again because it was just too damn confusing, and the line were terrible to wait to get your food. With 2 children, dh had to go first and by the time I got back with my food everyone else was done eating and ready to go. If the kids were older I would do it, but I wouldn't fight the crowds now for it. It was one of the best CS that we had though.

Thanks for the info I'm going solo in Feb and it is on my list at least once . Steak as a cs is unbelievable!!

Just returned from 13 days at CSR yesterday. Let me tell, you...I know that Pepper Market inside out!! We had absolutely no trouble understanding how it worked, found it to be very efficient and FAST-except for the grilled meats, but they prepared them fresh right after we ordered. CM's were all pleasant and helpful. Manager really went out of his way to help us, and allowed us to use our DP credits pretty much however we wanted (e.g., smoothies for drinks on CS meals, or as a dessert, etc.). Very flexible. And we thought the food was absolutely outstanding, especially for a CS meal. Had the grilled prime rib one night, and it was absolutely outstanding! Rib eye was pretty good, although a little on the thin side, but very tasty! All of the side orders were very good, and the desserts were-while not exceptional-perfectly acceptable. DD's loved the chocolate chip muffins...OK, so did I....

In fact, we enjoyed the Pepper Market so much that we decided to cancel a couple of ADR's, and combined our TS credits to eat at Signature restaurants a couple of times. We knew we'd be returning to the PM for a decent meal at the end of the day!

I certainly thought it was superior to any other food court we've experienced on Disney property, and we've been to a whole bunch.....

We loved the Pepper Market. There were many choices. DD loved the pasta bar, I loved the burrito grill, and DW loved the Chinese food! After getting our entree we sat down, and enjoyed our lunch. Then we got up and went back for dessert. Each time we ordered, they stamped the card (which we received when we were initially seated). When we finished we walked to the exit where there was a cashier. We presented him/her with our stamped card, and our DDP card. Hopefully, we can return to CSR next year!
