Yeah, you don't have to kill the previous owner of the Elder Wand, just beat them in battle. That was Voldemort's problem...Snape didn't beat Dumbledore in battle. That "battle" was pre-arranged by Snape and Dumbledore. Snape was never the master of the wand. I think the idea was that Draco disarmed Dumbledore before Snape killed him...so Draco was the wand's master until Harry bested him in battle (without killing him of course). It never worked for Harry or Draco before Voldemort used it as it was buried with Dumbledore and neither Harry nor Draco had it...until after Voldemort retrieved it. So Voldemort thought killing Snape would make him the wand's master...wrong again. He was incorrect in thinking you just had to knock off the previous master...and he also had the wrong master. Voldemort wasn't ever its master either.
No I didn't memorize this, I just read it yesterday.
This is a shame. We had such a great time doing the Kim Possible quest things over at Epcot, and it seems to be the same sort of thing that could have been done here. Perhaps it's something IOA could add in the future. Then they could provide "Special" wands to the visiting Muggles so they could get a taste of doing magic.
