Hello everyone,

My wife has gone before, but my kids and I, it's our 1st time!! We are going from end of April to early May and staying at the Polynesian.

We have been working with an agent to get our itinerary setup. The agent was great in the beginning, but she has started to flake out on us. Lack of communication, not responding to emails on time, just has been a disappointment. So I decided to take ownership and start working on the itinerary. By the way the FastPass date was 2/25, which I started to load up on the itinerary.

Here's what I got so far.....

Question here - What else can we do this day?

One question - where do you plan to watch Wishes the first night, since you mentioned you were not going into the park?

Your MK/AK day has you going back and forth to the two parks several times. That is going to be a big time waster. Try to do morning in one park and afternoon/evening in the other.

OK so we don't have little ones, but I'll do my best to give my personal experience here! Yay for a first trip, YOU WILL LOVE THE POLY! :)

We stayed at the Poly in November and you can get Dole Whips at the Pineapple Lanai which was awesome!

4/25 - No Park

We fly in, but we don't visit the parks until 4/26.

Dinner -

7:35pm - Cinderella Happy Ever After Dinner at 1900 Park Fare

10pm - Wishes nighttime spectacular at Magic Kingdom Park

I think this looks great! What time will you land? Just asking to make sure you have enough time to get to dinner, although it's only a monorail ride away. When we stayed at the Poly in November, we watched Wishes both from the beach (music piped in) and the end of our longhouse. We just went to the end of the hall (3rd floor) and outside onto the landing, we had a perfect view.

4/26 - Magic Kingdom

First off I have never been to Chef Mickey's, but it would be convenient for any meal given you're on the monorail. You know your kids - could you be up and at 'em and to breakfast by 7 AM given you traveled the day before? Do you think they'd want a late dinner? Character meals can be 60-90 minutes, so you may not get out of there until near 10 PM. Personally, I wouldn't leave the MK on your very first park day at 11:15!

Not sure what your lunch or dinner plans are, assuming you may just want quick service? I think Columbia Harbor House is good, as well as Be Our Guest (BOG requires a reservation beforehand even though its just QS).

4/27 - Epcot

Breakfast -

9am - Chip n' Dale's Harvest Feast Breakfast at the Garden Grill

FastPass+ -

Arrive b/t 10:35am and 11:35am - The Seas with Nemo and Friends

I am envious of your Garden Grill breakfast! I have seen lots of pics and it looks delicious. Good choice on FP especially given Soarin' is down! I think you have some great choices. If you're looking for quick places for dinner, the fish and chips in the UK, bakery in France, Sommerfest in Germany, and La Cantina in Mexico are our favorites.

4/28 - Animal Kingdom with a mix of Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom Park -

Magic Kingdom -

9pm - Main Street Electrical Parade

I absolutely positively could not go from MK - AK - MK - AK - MK. It is way too much traveling IMO. I think you could to AK in the morning and then be to MK for your lunch reservation but that's not much time spent there. Can you do standby for Anna and Elsa, and visit AK in the morning? Honestly, if you rope drop AK, get to Everest, and then head to the Safari, you may not even need your FP's (this happened to us the last 2 times we were there, but I know since its your first time you will probably want to take your time and enjoy the park).

4/29 - Hollywood Studios

11:30am - Hollywood and Vine Lunch Fantasmic 1st Show

FastPass+ -

Arrive b/t 12:35pm and 12:50pm - Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Stage Show -

4:30pm - For the First Time in Forever - A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

Parade -

9pm - Fantasmic!

Sounds good! If you are rope dropping people (getting there as soon as the park opens), you could head towards Toy Story and give that a shot. It is a REALLY fun ride!!

4/30 - Magic Kingdom

Parade -

10pm - Wishes nighttime spectacular

I have no comment on the CRT breakfast, other than you could get a lot done at park opening and then go at 11:55. I have never been to breakfast there so I don't know if breakfast or lunch is better but if it were me I'd tour the park early before the crowds and take the 11:55.

Ohana dinner is our favorite! If you're still there at 10 PM (and Ohana often seats people later than their ADR), they pipe in the music and you can view Wishes from the restaurant. The restaurant is huge so you may not be seated in an area that gives you a great view. If you're finished with your meal you can always watch from the beach.

Question here - What else can we do this day?

How much time do you have? Are you planning to visit Disney Springs? You can always do some shopping there. We love the monorail ride around to the monorail resorts so that is an option too. Kona at the Poly has a great breakfast and so does Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge).

I wouldn't go from back and forth from AK to magic kingdom as others have said... Not gonna work great... And you have a fast pass to meet Anna and Elsa at MK the next day...spend a whole day in AK... I would do the early breakfast at chef Mickeys so you don't have to leave at that time. The last day we've done mini golf and we usually go to Disney Springs...lots of good shopping and great food! Have fun!

Looks like you have a great start on your plans! Depending on your children's ages, you may want to schedule time to go back to the resort to rest (maybe you have that planned and I missed it). I am a "go go go" person, but my kiddos are not, so as much as I hate leaving the parks so a rest it does save everyone's sanity!

For your first day breakfast, I would consider the feasibility of making a reservation at 7 AM with Wishes at 10 PM the night before (again, I don't know if your kids are preschoolers or teenagers).

What about your late EPCOT lunch day? Planning for a late/big breakfast or snacks to tide everyone over?

Have a wonderful first trip!!

I agree with others that you might want to schedule some resort time to give everyone a break. Staying at the Poly makes that easy on your MK and Epcot days

For the MK-AK shared day.

I would rope drop MK for two hours then burn through FP+ for an hour or so and then Hop over to AK and do all three rides w/o FP+ and see AK and then come back for the evening to MK near the time AK closes. You will get very wet on Kali and you may need to change clothes or wear a poncho...

Since you are stationed at MK anyways. A trip to AK is a round trip affair. It really does not matter if you roundtrip in the morning to open AK or if you do it in the middle of the day. However only do this journey once this day.

The other option is to change your DHS day to start in AK at rope drop w/o fastpass. Ride all rides and them move over to DHS for the rest of the evening and a nice dinner, etc...

But if they do either of those, they don't get to see the new nighttime show Rivers of Light, which debuts to the general public on 4/22. I would make sure to schedule an evening in AK.

Good point...

Perhaps add Rivers of Light to thee and the AK rides to the end of one of the MK days.

Question here - What else can we do this day?
Your 4/28 MK AK day is absolutely not a good plan. It is a long distance between MK and AK. That is way to much back and forth travel and the times surely would not work. AK is a beautiful park and best early in the morning before the heat and the crowds. The Pangani forest trek to see the gorillas is best to do first, then safari ride with fast pass, festival of lion king, Everest with fast pass, etc. ROL is a new night time show not to be missed. Your other days are much more workable. So if you only fix one day, 4/28 is the one to work on. It needs a major overhaul.

I'll just add my comments in bold, in your quote :)

Hello everyone,

This depends on a few things. What time does your flight get in? You are aware that you'll be spending one of your days admission of your tickets for this? Also, by the time your dinner is done at Park Fare (plan on at least 1.5 hours), and then get to the Magic Kingdom, through the gates, and through the crowd, a) you're not going to find a very good spot b) it's possible the fireworks will already be started.

Myself, since you already plan on doing Wishes at the end of the trip, I'd skip them tonight and just do your dinner. It's really a waste of one of your day's tickets to enter the park just for fireworks, and timewise, it's not going to work well anyways.

This really depends on the time the park opens that day. It is 9:00, or are their EMH? If it's 9:00, I'd probably go with the 8:10. Otherwise, for the 7:00, you're going to have about an hour with which you are just wandering around the park. Which, maybe you'd enjoy walking around the empty park, seeing the sights without crowds, and you could get in line for Cinderella/Rapunzel. But... whether that's a good plan depends on the ages of your children and whether they're going to be okay with walking around the park for an hour, not being able to do anything. To make the 7:00 breakfast, means a pretty early morning, getting out by about 6:30 etc... By the time the park even opens at 9:00, they may already be a bit tired. Just something to consider.

Again, what ages are your children? Are they young? If so, you need to plan in/factor in possible rests/naps/breaks etc... I would take lunch around 11:00 or 11:30, so that a) you beat the lunchtime rush and b) you get out and get your FP+ done early. Once you're done your PP, you can see about changing your 1:25 to earlier. So, if you have young children, I would plan on being done after SDMT, go back to the resort for supper, rest and swimming. Even if they're older, I wouldn't "plan" your evening, other than maybe supper. I would just leave it open and see how everyone is doing. You'll have already put in a long day.

4/27 - Epcot

Breakfast -

9am - Chip n' Dale's Harvest Feast Breakfast at the Garden Grill

FastPass+ -

Arrive b/t 10:35am and 11:35am - The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Character Experience -

4:35pm - Meet Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco
5:20pm - Meet Snow White in Germany

Parade -

9pm - Illuminations: Reflections on Earth

This is pretty good. You'll want to allow time for a snack before your lunch, 9 - 3 is a long time to go without eating. Also, realize that your character experiences may not happen. They can easily have a half hour wait time, so by the time you wait, interact, walk to the next place etc... Again, without knowing the ages of your children... This is a really long day. You may need an afternoon break built in.

This is just a really horrible plan :) Sorry, but it is. 1. Timewise, it won't even work 2. It's just awful, so much back and forth, it's a waste of time. Make this your AK day, period. No MK. I would rope drop the safari without a FP+. Then change the time for your EE FP+. For now, you could book the third FP+ for a safari at a later time or a different ride, but, I would honestly keep in mind that when you go Rivers of Light will have opened up, so plan on changing your FP+ to that when it does. You are not going to want to miss that show. You could look at getting a breakfast or lunch at Tusker House, they have a great character meal. However, again, Tusker House is going to be offering a Rivers of Light dining package, so that may be an option to. But yeah. Animal Kingdom only this day, sorry.

Honestly, it depends on what you want, but I would choose the 11:55. If you're going for a later park entry, then this works better. Also, if you do plan on being at the park at rope drop, keeping the meal for lunch allows you to make the most of your morning rope drop time (aka, get the most rides done time). I would skip OHanas and eat in the park. Do both the Electric Parade and Wishes. Eat supper in the park tonight.

Again, whether your FP+ times etc... are good, really depends on your kids ages and whether you're going to need an afternoon break.

Question here - What else can we do this day?

That really depends on what time your flight home is. Also, another thing to consider: as I've mentioned a few times, you have NO breaks scheduled at all. You are go go go morning to night. You have to realize this very likely won't work depending on the ages of your children. You may want to overhaul your plans, allowing for afternoons breaks.

If not, and you really want to be gone from morning to night, I would cancel Poly and stay somewhere else, in a value etc... Why on earth spend so much money, just to have a place to sleep for 8 hours, because that's all you're going to be doing there, if you're not going to be having breaks/evenings there with which to enjoy the pool/resort etc.

Are you going into MK to see this? If not, I would suggest seeing it from the boat dock at GF or the beach at Poly.

4/26 - Magic Kingdom

I would choose dinner so you don't have to rush in the morning and then spend the whole day in MK. Going to CM for lunch on an MK day is a complete waste of park time IMHO. Could you try to move your BOG lunch to this day so you aren't traveling back and forth from MK?

Breakfast - Chef Mickey's Fun Time Buffet, 7am

Nothing setup for night time yet....any suggestions? Is the Main Street Electrical Parade happening this night? If so, I would do this here and not on your AK day. How about dinner at Kona and simply going back to the resort to swim, watch the Electric Water Pageant and Wishes? Since you are staying at Poly you might as well enjoy it! Or even go to Trader Sam's!

Can you switch your TT and Character Spot FP+ times? Then you can go to Character Spot on your way to TT and won't have to double back.

Lunch -

3:15pm - Princess Storybook Dining Lunch at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Character Experience -

4:35pm - Meet Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco
5:20pm - Meet Snow White in Germany

Parade -

9pm - Illuminations: Reflections on Earth

4/28 - Animal Kingdom with a mix of Magic Kingdom
There is no way on earth that I would do this. MK and AK are very far apart. You will be waiting for buses and riding buses all day long.

Magic Kingdom Park -

Character Experience -

9am - Meet Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall
Eliminate MK in the morning and go to AK for the day.

Animal Kingdom -

FastPass+ -

Arrive b/t 9:45am and 10:45am - Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
Arrive b/t 11:15am and 12:15pm - Kali River Rapids

Magic Kingdom Park -

2:15pm - Be our Guest Lunch - QSR
Cancel this and eat in AK instead. You will absolutely regret getting on a bus to MK, walking all the way to the back of the park, eating and then walking back to the bus stop to go to AK again. It's just not worth it.

Animal Kingdom -

FastPass+ -

Arrive b/t 4:05pm and 5:05pm - Kilimanjaro Safaris

Magic Kingdom - Eliminate this and, if you are there after RoL opens, stay and see this new show in AK. If prior to RoL opening, perhaps go to AKL for dinner at Boma or Sanaa and see the animals at the lodge or go back to Poly and enjoy the resort.

9pm - Main Street Electrical Parade

4/29 - Hollywood Studios

11:30am - Hollywood and Vine Lunch Fantasmic 1st Show

FastPass+ -

Arrive b/t 12:35pm and 12:50pm - Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Arrive b/t 1:30pm and 2:30pm - Toy Story Midway Mania!
Arrive b/t 2:50pm and 3:05pm - Disney Junior - Live on Stage!

Stage Show -

4:30pm - For the First Time in Forever - A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

Parade -

9pm - Fantasmic!

4/30 - Magic Kingdom

Question here - which time do we choose for Fairytale Dining Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, 9:15am and 11:55am? The agent booked both times.
It depends on if you like breakfast or lunch more. I personally would prefer to take advantage of shorter lines in the morning and do the lunch time.

FastPass+ -

Arrive b/t 12:50pm and 1:50pm - Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
Arrive b/t 2:20pm and 3:20pm - Meet Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall
Arrive b/t 3:30pm and 4:30pm - Enchanted Tales with Belle

Dinner -

7:55pm - Ohana Dinner

Parade -

10pm - Wishes nighttime spectacular

5/1 - Checking out of Polynesian

Checkout at 11am :(

Question here - What else can we do this day? What time does your flight leave? DME will pick you up about 3 hours prior to your flight. You can use the amenities (pool, etc.) at the resort until midnight on the day of checkout so you could swim and enjoy the resort.

For a first time planner its not bad.
Let me add that one park per day is a lot easier as other have said. By the time you get to the 2nd park of the day its crowded and it really adds to your walking. You do enough walking without park hopping.
A day at one of the water parks is fun and a little different for many families also.

For that last day if your flight is at 11 am , you don;t have time for a lot. Maybe a quick dip in the hotel pool or a nice breakfast? For that first day, a half day at Disney Springs may be fun also.

Thank you everyone for noticing the screw up I made for Thursday. I went ahead and fixed it so we're good on going to AK beginning of the day and then ending off with MK.

Also thank you for the replies. I will definitely take into consideration your suggestions so we can fit in other things along with our packed itinerary.

I apologize for not mentioning this, but our children are ages 5 (daughter) and 2 (son).

--------------

For Tuesday, we're thinking of picking the 11:15am Chef Mickey's. The 7:00am would be nice, but doubt the kids would get up that early and we would make it on time. I would love to do the 8:10pm, but the kids would whine before that to eat something, so it would be a waste.

For Saturday, we're thinking of the 9:15am CRT. The 11:55am wouldn't give us time to enjoy CRT due to the 12:50 to 1:50pm FP Buzz Lightyear.

I also forgot to mention due to the trip being so close, most of the dining reservations and FPs are limited times to choose from or unable to be changed, so I had to work around with what I had.

--------------

I've made changes to the itinerary. I've kind of spaced out some things where we can enjoy the dining reservations and be able to things in time to enjoy them.

Tell me what you guys think!

I'm still a bit confused on this one. Are you actually going to go into the park? One thing you might want to consider, at 5 & 2, those are very young ages. You'll have had a long, overwhelming day traveling, flying etc... I would do your dinner, and then go back to the hotel and let the kids sleep. You have an early morning the next day and the last thing you want is to start your trip out with two overtired young kids. It doesn't go well.

If you plan on staying all day to watch Wishes... when are you taking a break/rest? The children are going to need a break. You've got nothing planned. Change your FP+, leave after the parade (at the latest) and go back to the resort for a few hours for supper and rest, then come back for Wishes. I would also not do the 11:15 Chef Mickey's, you'll lose over an hour of park time, by the time you get to the front of the park, get on the monorail, get there, eat, go back, and you're going to have to go through the check in gates (including bag checks), all over again. This is a huge time waster. Do it before you enter the park, do it when you leave the park (see if you could get say a 4:00 supper), but don't split your day up with it.

Again, you've got a very long day planned, with no rest. (Huge recipe for disaster with children as young as yours). I would leave Epcot as after you do the Character Spot and have a rest at the resort, swim, what have you. Try and change your Akershus to evening.

Same thing. No rest/break planned. Leave Safaris and go back to resort and rest. Skip BOG. And in all honesty, I would start my day at MK here, leave around 12 or 1, take a break at the resort, then head to AK around 4. Use your FP+ there, (try and get later times), and stay for the Rivers of Light show. You're not going to want to miss that. Watch religiously to see if you can get a Tusker House dinner reservation for Rivers of Light when they open up.

You guessed it. No breaks! Also, doing the breakfast that time means you're going to lose out on the prime time for rides, so you might want to look at switching your Buzz and Belle to earlier. Leave after you've done A&E and go back to your resort to rest. Just an FYI, if you planned on going back into MK to watch Wishes, you'll never make it with that late of a dinner at O'Hanas (or you'll get a horrible spot). So, I would plan on just staying there, to watch the Wishes from the beach. We may be what you were planning, just wanted to make sure you knew.

Overall, you have a very gruelling plan, which I really see not working out at all, because you're planning 7, rope drop to close days with two very young children, no afternoon breaks and not even a day off for rest. It has disaster written all over it. I realize you're under a time crunch for reservations etc... but you need to seriously look at giving up some things, or reworking your plans, to add down time for those kids. Disney is exhausting, absolutely exhausting. For everyone, but especially children that little. And by late April, it's also getting pretty hot. You'll want a break from the heat.

When we check out on 5/1, we're actually not flying out. We have to pick up a car from the airport and head down to Fort Lauderdale to visit family, so we plan on being there on the last day at the Poly until we get tired of it and hit the road.

Do the 12:55 Voyage, then head to your H&V dinner, then 4:00 Disney Jr., and 5:30 Frozen Sing a Long. Try and get TSMM for the evening.

If not, then enter park at Rope Drop, do a 9:40 Disney Jr, your 10:30 Frozen, 11:30 H&V, 1:30 TSMM, then leave the park for a rest. Come back for the evening and do a 6:40 or 7:10 Little Mermaid.
