Please compare mid-August crowds to mid-March crowds

Hello!

We've braved mid-August crowds, when NO ONE was back at school yet and free dining (I think) was going on. Now we're contemplating mid-March 2013 -- our DS is now in high school and has the two-week March spring break; it's probably the only time we'll be able to go.

I know it's premium rates as far as WDW pricing is concerned, but can someone please compare the crowds -- is spring break time as bad as full-on summer crowds?

Mid-August crowds are hotter and sweatier than mid-March crowds.

Seriously, I think the March crowds will be somewhat higher, but it shouldn't be a whole lot different. We did the first week of August once, and the crowds didn't seem much lower than the third week of March, which we have done several times.

This past year, I went in mid March for my daughter's lacrosse tournament, and then again for a family vacation in mid August.

I thought March was definitely busier, but as a PP said, the weather was BEAUTIFUL in March, compared to the heat and humidity of August....therefore making the crowds a little more tolerable. However, since you are asking for opinions, I was truly shocked at just how packed the parks could be in March.

Remember, the parks will be open early and stay open late in March, with most parades and shows having times twice a night, unlike when we went in August this year. So I'm sure if it's the only time you can go, it's manageable! Thousands and thousands of families take their WDW vacation at that time of year, and have a blast doing so. Just go with it....

I totally agree with the prior comment. It has been my experience that the crowds are heavier in March, but the park hours are better. Also, it's much cooler in March. August was almost unbearable as far as the temps. HOT! My opinion is October is really nice, but February is my all time favorite! Perfect weather and very little crowds.
