What a travesty of justice! Was hoping to see some of my old favorites in there but alas I was disappointed. I demand cinnamon buns! I demand huge chocolate muffins! I demand giant chipwhiches! Mickey can you hear me?! Aren't there enough Starbucks in the world!

I totally agree.

I have to admit... I LOVE Starbucks coffee... but I do wish they would have left the rest of the bakery alone. I wish they would have kept the baked goods they normally sold in there. But I love me a PSL!!!

Is this the sweets shop next to the Chapeau? I hope they left the delicious treats. I don't need a Starbucks inside the parks. Bummer. :sad2: Loved the sweets shop. Here's what the WDW website says about Main St. Bakery under dining options:

Stop off on the way down Main Street, and top off your day with a coffee or even a tasty treat! Enjoy a Starbucks® Espresso and Specialty Beverages, Artisan breakfast sandwiches and delicious, house-made Disney sweets.

We were looking forward to stopping in and choosing our special treat from the bakery case, browsing for something special to bring home for our two nieces and watching CM's make goodies behind the glass. Did they change the one in HS, too?

OMG, I so agree. We just returned from our trip last weekend and our group was so disappointed that we all walked out. My daughter said, even the pastry selection was Starbucks!!! We just wanted a big cinnnamon bun and my husband wanted a stacked apple pastry that he had in the past. Of course we were sent to Gustans(?) which had a huge cinnamon bun and a crosant (yes I think there were 2 choices). While I knew that the coffee was going to be Starbucks, I had no idea that the selections would also be Starbucks. Another sad change.......we always say, try not to like something because it will be gone the next time. We had many QS credits to use and was hoping to find a QS breakfast choice. We used a couple of snacks for the 2 cinnamon buns. We did stop a management type CM and asked where we could go for a QS breakfast and there were no choices other than what we went to.

Pretty sure you are thinking of the Confectionary, not Main Street Bakery. Main Street Bakery is down by the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.

Love having a frappucino in the parks! I can get the cinnamon roll at Gaston's and other pastries and treats other places like the giant ice cream sandwiches at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. I'm just happy to have coffee in the park that isn't "Not Coffee"... Nescafé.

The real travesty is the loss of the banana bread pudding :(

They don't sell anything "Disney" until after 11. The artisan breakfast sandwiches are the same pre made microwave sandwiches you get at your local Starbucks. The worse part of losing the bakery is the smell. Just walking down Main Street and smelling the delicious pastries and treats is gone. Yes, it was a smell Disney pushed out onto the street but its still no longer there.

Yup, you're right and I am relieved! Phew, that was a close one.....sorry for my confusion and thanks for your help! :)
I do agree, that it will be nice to have "real" coffee, but I am a Dunkin' coffee girl!

I demand a decent cup of coffee!!!!

(I get what you are saying and it would have been nice to see the cinnamon rolls stay but for everyone who wants one thing, someone else wants another. Personally, I'm thrilled for Starbucks)

Haven't been but didn't all the pastries and cinnamon buns move to Gastons?

Linda

Ño. Gaston's does sell cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants but nothing else. The cinnamon rolls are good, but they are not the same ones the Main Street Bakery sold.

Umm, you forgot the pork shank at Gaston's. ;) The offerings there really crack me up. Croissant, cinnamon roll, pork shank, hummus & chips/crackers..... :confused3

I must say, during our trip in October I actually teared up walking by the bakery, which I realize is a huge overreaction and frankly, it shocked me that I got that emotional.

Since introducing my DD to WDW it has been a morning MK tradition for us to get our breakfast of cinnamon rolls/pastries at the Bakery and sit down below the Plaza on the "waterfront" with a fabulous view of the castle and just enjoy the atmosphere for a bit.

We didn't do that once this year because of the bakery changes.

We did try Gaston's Tavern, we had our cinnamon rolls but what a change in atmosphere. From the bright outdoors with castle in view to the darkness of a tavern (as wonderfully themed as it was).

We were bummed to say the least.

Yes, that cracked us up too! The menu was so small and limited we just stood there and stared at it like it might change if we stared for a long time.

I agree that there are more then enough Starbucks in the world....we could have done without them at Disney World too. *sigh*

I was just mentioning the things that Gaston's offers that used to be available at the Main Street Bakery. Personally, I think the MSB missed a huge opportunity not offering a good pork shank...but nobody asked me. ;)

You know, you could always request the smell come back. It had nothing to do with the bakery. It was a pre-packaged scent, and part of the overall scent-scape at Disney (like the "popcorn" smell near the main gates).

If it's gone, then that's a pity. But it would be easy enough for Disney to put it back.

What smell do they currently have in place?

It was there the last week of October when we were there. Both days. :confused3
