Please Be Kind

:confused3 I didn't read that as ariel75 trying to make a judgment on you. I think she was just pointing out that this thread has, itself, turned into a debate.
thankyou snowy76 :thumbsup2

I think some people don't mean to be unkind but sometimes they write things so abruptly without thinking that they don't see it the way others might read it.
For example they may be writing a reply to someone's post/opinion on which they disagree and rather than saying 'I think you might be wrong', they simply say 'you're wrong'.
No malice meant behind it, just a product of our modern world where everyone is in a rush to do everything!
Slow down and smell the flowers sometime! Or at least re-read your post and try and see how others might interpret it! :rotfl:

I have to vent. I love coming on to this site, because I love Disney to the point where I was starting to question whether or not I was right in the head. I found this site where I could click around, reading about what's new since I was there last, reliving great trips with my family. Of course there are other subjects that come up that I find very informative, and fun to read up on. So here's my beef. People who insist on making snide sarcastic comments. For example, now I know this was a while ago, but there was a woman who wrote that her son was desperate to go on some of the wilder rides at Disney, but was about an inch off the height requirement, and wanted to know what she could do to help him reach them. She got toasted! I respect the fact that you don't want to play with the safety standards, because they are there for a reason, but some comments were very out of line. Another thread I read when I first joined up was about child harnesses. This was a subject I was very interested in, being the proud owner of a brand-new two year old, with very quick legs. I understand that not everyone likes the idea of putting their kids on a "leash". But seriously, questioning peoples abilty to parent their own children because they want them to be safe? So its not everyones idea of how to keep their children from wandering off, it works for some people. I'm not saying agree with it, but respect the fact that there are people who do things differently from you, and don't insult them for it.

So that's my rant. I just hate having to reread, and revise innocent comments I type out because I'm afraid of what someone is going to write back to me, because my opinion isn't worthy of them. I completely respect the fact that everyone is going to have different ideas about everything from A-Z, and I think this would be a pretty boring disscussion forum if they didn't, but if you are reading this, please, the next time you have a difference of opinion with someone, try not to rake them over the coals, no matter what you think about them in your head. Ok? Thank you. (you may notice this same post on the Canadian board, under Negative Posters. I meant to put it here, but messed up. Sorry!)

It seems some people here are very self-righteous and if you do not agree with them you are their enemy.

I agree with you 100%.

We Run Into Those People Everyday Of Our Lives. In The Non Internet World We Just Roll Our Eyes And Go On...on Here We Choose To Debate Strongly And Show How Strong Our Beliefs Are. Alot Of Times I May Not Agree But Am To Lazy To Type My Beliefs Out, In Person I Would Fight Till The End. If I Dont Agree With A Poster On Here I Just Yell Out At The Computer And Think Unflattering Thoughts. Just My Thoughts!!!!!!!!!!

Ok now Fidget you just sit right down there a minute as I have a very strong opinion you NEED to hear!!!!!

I entirely disagree with you!!!!!!

Opss never mind jsut having another one side debate .....better go make dinner! :lmao:

I agree. You get alot more done when you are friendly. You don't need to be mean to get your point across.

I think it is a two way street. Sure no one needs to be insulting or rude, but some think that anyone that does not agree with them is rude and insulting.

I think everyone needs to state their opinons and not take any of it personally. So what if someone disagrees, who cares.

Take it all with a grain of salt and never let any of it bother you.

You hit it right on the head. If you do not subscribe to the liberal manifesto on this Board, they attack you.

THIS IS COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC - SORRY - I just wanted to say that the one time I posted on Intercot, I advised someone to check a different Disney website which had the answer to their question (Intercot did not!!) and the moderators deleted the name of the other website from my post (I felt like I had committed a major crime)!! DIS may have some biting comments sometimes, but at least we're offered the freedom to post where to get the best information!! :goodvibes

OK - SORRY - CONTINUE.... :rolleyes1

You have no idea how right you are...Amen! :thumbsup2

ETA:...can't remember if I've posted earlier in this thread or not, but I feel pretty good about these boards until I go to the Community Forum. Wow. There are some great threads down there, but it's there that I see the most hateful attitudes. I don't appreciate the hurtful comments or insults that I see from time to time, but it IS nice to have alot more freedom in posting here.

Unless you have a very thick internet skin personality I would avoid the Community Forum, it even scares me. :rotfl:

yeah i get that to. i just happen to see this one. when i post anything , mine usually just gets ignored.........hah. im sorry to bring this up, but please bear with me. we just got back in aug. we go every year, well we missed last summer. we stay at the all stars. i happen to bring my mugs back , of course my husband laughs at me. we also go to disney by amtrak train, i do not like to fly. now i think i brought them cause it was kinda like ,yeah we are going back to our fav. home...haha, you know what i mean . i did not bring my mug cause we do not have 11.99 cents to buy a new one. but i know for a fact that when we bought ours they said bring it back. i am not trying to debate here, but we also were with other people this summer who asked also. and they said, yes . there is not marking , or any notice on mugs. i am sorry to bring this up, but i notice someone will just ask nicely and people start about how that is stealing, cheating.,etc. well that bothers me, cause we all go to disney cause its my fav. place. we all go to have fun. so to me its like , dont worry, just be happy. sorry to babble , but it really does bother me that they say these things to innocent people that are just asking a simple questions. oh and the coke and pepsi guys that we know , say its about .02 cents a cost to fill a mug.but anyways ,thanks .sorry for babbling..

Was that supposed to be a reply to another thread because I'm totally lost here. :confused3

oh sorry. i must of mis understood...........i thought they were talking about how someone might ask a simple question , and then alot of people go off on how they are wrong for doing something (like bringing back your mug } and they start to tell them how they are stealing from disney.maybe i took it wrong, but i was just saying it seems like they really attack the ones that ask about the mugs......and to me that is kinda mean, and actually silly to..

Sorry, it was the whole mug thing that threw me off. After rereading your post I see what you were talking about now. :rotfl:

Guess I need to find the elusive "Ignore" button. Help, anyone?

I agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What I hate is when some think they are the only right ones.

One that gets me is the Handholder" baby leash", if you don't like it, that's your opinion. Until you have lost your child in "The Land" pavilion and frantically search for 10 minutes, don't criticize others.

Having lost my 5 y/o 2 x in our first day at WDW I was very inclined to "leash" him up. He was so excited and forgot that we weren't in our small town anymore and got out of sight very quickly. He fortunately figured it out pretty quickly after the second time when we warned him that we would just go home if he did it again. But if I had a 2 y/o that doesn't reason quite as well as a 5 y/o I would have put the "leash" on.

I have recently realized that my "internet skin" isn't very think...at all. After what I've seen down there, I've been Community Board free :teeth: for almost two months. I have to wonder, with all the judgments that go one down there, the rude comments, etc...are these people who do the judging so absolutely perfect in their OWN lives?? I originally came here to exchange Disney info, that's what I'll stick with! I love the DIS!

It's just like life...it's all about who and where you hang out. There are some threads there on the CB that are not flammable :goodvibes and others that make me go :confused3

I totally agree with you. I think the people that are rude etc. are probably also the ones that complain alot. I just have to accept the fact that there are some people out there that need to relax and get a good sprinkling of pixie dust. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
