We will be coming WD and staying in POFQ in December 2-8. This is my problem. My youngest DD has a seizure disorder and when she is over stimulated or excessively tired (take your pick as to which will be the culprit at Disney), she has seizures in her sleep. I am so concerned about the height level of the beds at FQ, if she were to have a seizure in her sleep I am concerned about her falling out of the bed and then we need to worry about injuries or worse. This is what we have attempted to do, see if FQ will give us a King Size room, we will bring air mattresses for our DD's to sleep in which will put DD on a lower level in the event of a seizure, thus eliminating the height issue. This is where the question comes in, AAA called Special Accomodations for us and were told that it was impossible to do this for Fire Codes. Does anyone know of any fire codes or any rules that Disney has. I will sign any paperwork that they need to eliminate their liability and I can provide physician documentation that states her limit on height levels for sleeping arrangements. If anyone has any insight please respond. :cool1:

Some of the rooms in POR have a trundle bed. Would that work? Here's a pic:

Or could you go ahead and get the room with double beds in POFQ and put the air mattress on the floor at the foot of the beds--maybe rearrange some of the furniture (like the bench)? Here's a pic of POFQ--does it look like there'd be enough room?

I believe all of the resorts have bedrails available to borrow. Would she be able to sleep in the regular bed if there were rails?

Hope you find a solution.

I think you should get in touch with Special Accomodations yourself to see what might be done to help. They may be able to take the bed frame out and just leave the usual matress there for you.

This is just my opinion, but if you stay at Port Orleans Riverside you will eliminate the problem of having to bring air mattresses with you & possibly having to rearrange furniture. You have enough to worry about with the concern of your dear little daughter without putting extra stress about sleeping arrangements. If you go over to Port Orleans Riverside, tell them that you need to be in the Bayou area (tell them that you need it guaranteed). They have the trundle bed which you just pull out from underneath the regular bed (it is low to the floor). But tell them that you want it put on the reservation so that when you receive your confirmation it is stated guaranteed Bayou area! Explain your reasons why you need this guaranteed & that you will even bring a doctors note.
The reason why you have to tell them that you want the Bayou area is because on the other side of POR is a mansion area that does not have the trundle bed. Also if you don't mind me asking is are you getting a package deal or room only through AAA. Because if you are just booking "room only" you can call Disney yourself & tell them you have AAA & get the room discount so this way you can talk to the reservationist yourself & tell them your needs yourself. (Just a suggestion) Of course if you are booking a package then I know you would get the discount on the room side with AAA.

I hope this helps you in a little way

We have a package thru AAA and we were told that there were no rooms left at POR, we tried to book for there first, and when there were none available we decided to go with FQ, but if you think that my calling POR will help to get my ressies changed I am all for calling them myself, but Disney said that they cannot change my ressie, and that AAA must do it. I could call Special Accomodations and see if they would be able to find us a room at POR that the reservationists may not be able to find. Thanks for the help. If you can think of any other way that we can do this let me know. :lovestruc

The package that you have with AAA is it room & tickets or is it room, tickets & dining plan? Also are you at all flexible with the dates you want to go? :sunny:

We have a package, not a room only. Our dates were chosen because we wanted to go around DD's birthday. She is turning 10. So our dates are locked in unless the most unexpected things happen.

You might also want to post on Disablilities board. They might have some other suggestions.

I do know in most cities there are firecode regulations. You can't sign anything overriding them you are just stuck with them. So when you "ask" Disney they have to play by the rules. (I used to use those regulations to my advantage when Girl Scout leaders wanted to put 10 girls in a hotel room!. NOPE)

Well the only other suggestion i could think of is call special accomidations yourself & explain about the air mattress. Because i don't understand if they use a trundle bed that pulls out from under the regular bed & is on the floor all night for a fifth person to sleep on then what would be the difference by you using even a twin size air mattress & in the morning when your daughter gets up just slip it under the bed so it is in no ones way. And just ask them whats the difference. This is really the only other thing I can think of. :sunny:

Thanks to everyone who had suggestions, my travel agent from AAA is still working on it for me, and either way we will have a small air mattress for her, we will bring one that has a sleeping back with it too.

i think this may help... simply call housekeeping and ask for three bed rails (sides and bottom)... they have them on hand for toddlers or others who are concerned about falling out of bed...

enjoy :flower:
