Hello everyone,

My husband and I are planning to take our two little ones to Disney World for their first trip there. Our son is 2 years old, and our daughter will be turning 6 in June. I am pregnant and due in early November, but I'm not in the best shape and expect I won't be able to walk much by September or so.

If we don't take this trip now, we won't be able to for awhile. We don't want to go with a newborn, so we'd have to wait 2 more years+ for baby #3 to turn 2 before considering going.

We are trying to decide if whether we should take the kids in May or late June. The only reason why late June is a consideration (None of us do well with heat or crowds) is because we want to take our daughter to the Cinderella Royal Table character dining and the first available date is June 27. That's it... thats the only reason why we would do June. Our daughter is veryyyy girly and she absolutely loves the disney princesses. I feel our trip would be kind of wasted if she didn't get to experience the character dining with Cinderella.

For May, should we consider going early May (Mothers Day crowd?) or late May (Memorial Day weekend crowd?)

Thank you so much for any advice!

I would say maybe go in between mothers day and memorial day because the crowds might be a little lighter. Have you looked into akersus at norway for a meal? they have the disney princesses there too so it would somewhat be the same experience as you would get at CRT except not eating in the castle

I would probably pick May over June. June is going to be sooo hot!
And I have two very girly princesses. We did the BBB and originally wanted to do dinner at CRT after. We ended up skipping due to the cost. I felt guilty until DH pointed out that they had no clue you could even eat in the castle. And there as soooo much to do and we saw princesses all week. They even met Anna and Elsa.
I would just think long and hard about letting that be a key factor in your decision. There really are princesses everywhere in WDW.

I would also pick May over June. My husband and I went in mid June with his family back in 2006 and a lot of the days we were there, the heat was unbearable. (I remember it being about 100-102 out the day we were at AK)

This year, we are heading to WDW right before Mother's Day and will be there the week after, too. We dined at CRT our last trip and it was alright but this trip we are doing the princess dining at Akershus. So that is another option besides Cinderella's Royal Table, like a few others have said. :)

I would pick May. I've been in May and June and June was super hot! There is also 1900 Park Fare character dining at the Grand Floridian. It has Cinderella, Prince Charming and the stepsisters and stepmother. And like the previous poster said there is princess dining at Akershus in Norway. So there are other princess options. If that is the only reason to go in June then I would look into one of the other princess meals and pick May. June is so hot and you would feel so yucky! I was pregnant in summer and the heat killed me! And that wasn't in Florida!

We would choose May for sure. The cooler weather is much more important from my perspective than CRT. We've never been to CRT, and I hope to go at some point. But it is so expensive, we've waited. Our girls have been very happy at Akershus.

Go in May and avoid weekends if possible.

also I went with my 18 months baby last year and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Thank you everyone so much for your responses. I'm such a Disney newbie (my whole family's first time going) that I didn't know there were two other princess dining options.

I want to cry now.

After checking 1900 Park and finding nothing at all until 5/31/14, I found a 5/19/14 slot for Akershus. I went ahead and booked our whole trip -- hotel, flight, park passes, dining -- for 5/11 to 5/20. Then when I went back to try to book the Akershus lunch, it was gone! I seriously was going to cry (maybe pregnancy hormones?). I called the Disney Dining number, but they couldn't find anything within our travel dates either.

I'm really bummed that we won't be able to take our daughter to a princess dining experience. :( Is there any other princess related activity we can do?

Thank you.

I would keep checking dining several times a day and most likely you will find something before your trip. If not, keep in mind that people will cancel because of the 24 hour cancellation fee, so you may be able to snag something last minute while you are there too. Don't give up hope!

Your dates sound perfect to me. I wish we could go in May! Your daughter would probably love the Bippity Boppity Boutique makeover, and there are plenty of princesses to meet, even if you don't end up dining with them. You are within your fast pass window so you could go ahead and set up a princess meet & greet.

People frequently say that persistence with dining reservations pays off, so keep calling/checking on-line & good luck!

Definitely keep checking. I am willing to bet that something will open up. People DO cancel. I was able to get an ADR for 8 people at Ohana just 3 days before we went. Keep checking!

yes keep checking every day a few times a day!! thats what i did and we finally got the reservation we wanted.. Also if you can get a reservation at the BBB and then met princesses she might even like that better! if you need help planning any part of your trip just ask away! we would all love to help make your trip as magical as possible :)

May!! She will love it and just plan doing Rope drop and run to get in line for a Meet and Greet, she will love the trip regardless.

Don't give up!

I once stalked a Chef Mickey's reservation for mooooonths! And I scored it like a week before my vacation omg I was jumping with joy! Check every day, check for all your days and all your possible times. Change the party number too, sometimes that helps (if you book a different party number, just call the reservations hotline later and ask to change it). Keep trying, best of luck!

Are you staying on site? Because if you can't find anything before you leave, you can also ask at check in, the hotel guest services can check for you when you arrive and help you snag a late cancelation.

Keep checking here for open dates!

I always pick May over June because of the crowds. I hate to say, the weather isn't necessarily much cooler like a PP said. Nights may be high 60s instead of low 70s like June, but highs will most definitely be high 80s, low 90s.

Does your daughter like Frozen? The once impossible to get FP+ are available for almost every date in May now!

Thanks so much for your helpful responses everyone! Wow, what a great group!

I kept checking all throughout last night and today and was able to get a reservation for 1900 Park Fare! :) So my daughter will be able to get one princess dining experience. I'm feeling pretty happy now... thanks everyone so much!
