Can anyone tell me anything about the Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. We're going with my parents and sister in Dec, they are not adventerous eaters. The menu looks pretty "normal" ie. burgers, chicken sandwiches, ect. Just wondering if it is any good. You don't hear much about this restaurant.

TIA :bounce:

I love the Plaza. The sandwiches are great as is the ice cream. Haven't tried a salad yet but they sound good too.

It is a rather small restaurant with a charming ice cream shop decor. Good service and decent prices.

I do always try to make a PS.

Plus they have a great fixin's bar.DW says they have great chicken fingers which I don't remember but I'm no fool I agreed with her LOL.::yes:: :wave2:

Danny, there is no fixings bar at the Plaza Restaurant. It is a sit down restaurant. I think you may be recalling the Plaza Pavillion which is close by, huge and counter service.:D

Just another thumbs up for the Plaza.

On 3/9 hubby and I stopped in for lunch and it was so good! We had a chicken sandwich (yummie) and a cheese burger (yum yummie) plus a chocolate milk shake that was sooooo good! It's definately more normal food, but the restaurant is small and beautiful and the service is great!

Be sure to let us know how it goes!

A must stop during every trip for us. We have never had a bad meal here. This is a very small place and a PS is a must for most of the time, except early lunch (11:00 AM).

we love the plaza & make sure that we eat there at least once when we are at disney. love their burgers and shakes. they are also very accomidating...last time we were at disney, i was about 6 weeks PG & could only eat certain foods. i explained my situations & they allowed me to order a grilled cheese off the kids menu. i would have paid more but i was even charged the kids price.

We love the Plaza. We usually get an early lunch p.s. because it does get filled up at peak times. Everything we have tried there, burgers, chicken sanwiches, my favorite - the Philly cheesteak, the kids meals, ice cream have all been good. Service has always been good too. They were prompt on bringing the food, and never had to wait for drink refills. A lot of people walk on by not realizing what they're passing up. I think some think it is just an ice cream place.

The Plaza has the best cheesesteak at WDW! ;) Yummy fries, german potato salad, and ICE CREAM! ;) You'll love it! Make sure you make a PS, it's small and gets busy!

Another thumbs up for the Plaza. Great plain all american food with just enough variety to make for great selections. My DH is also a plain eater and really looks forward to meals here. The deserts are to die for and the homemade soup is changed daily.

Hubby and I tried this a few years ago and it was very good. We were given PS about 10 min. before the restuarant opened. Which was good--it was packed by 11:15. I had a huge grilled chicken, spinach and strawberry salad. Lots of chicken and real greens--not iceburg. Hubby had a very large club sandwich with fries. Don't remember the prices, but I felt the value and quality were good for the price. Very nice atmosphere. May need to add this to my PS list for next trip--it is worth going again.

A wonderful little tiny restaurant. The sandwiches are wonderful. I have a particular weak spot for the reuben here.

It's around the corner from the end of Main St......just as you turn the corner toward Tomorrowland. If you come to the restrooms or Plaza Pavillion, you've missed it. There is a podium right by the entrance.

Epcotgal8 and Cal Dreaming, you both like the Philly steak sandwich? Is it like the real thing?

We love this place....just be careful though, you will get full! I wouldn't suggest it if you are having a planned dinner later in the day.

Well, I've never been to Philly to have a REAL one (I wish that I could though) so the folks from there might not think so. I am a roast beef lover whether it is prime rib, a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, or a French Dip so when I dine out and am in the mood for a hot sandwich that's what I order. I've had some very good ones and some that weren't but I have loved them when I've eaten them at the Plaza. It is thinly shaved beef which I like so I can actually bite into it without looking like a cavewoman, yet it is not dry or so thin it is tasteless. They put grilled onions on it although I'm sure you could ask them not to put them on if you don't want them. It is very cheesy yum! The best part of all is that in my experiences the baguette that it is served on is VERY fresh and the sandwich comes out hot. My dh usually orders a different kind of sandwich there (chicken, clubs, burgers) but last trip I gave him a bite of mine and he thought it was yummy too. I hope that they haven't changed them because I don't want to set your expectations too high and then you not like it, but in MY experiences they have been great! HTH.

Thanks for the reply, Epcot8gal. My DH worked in Philly a couple of summers while he was in college and has introduced me to the delights of a Philly steak sandwich on my two visits to that city. He favors Pat's as I recall.

I love the reuben at the Plaza but perhaps this trip, I'll give the Philly a try. Thanks again.

I'm so glad to see all the positive reviews:hyper: We are trying this restaurant in June and I am really looking forward to it now:Pinkbounc

We have only had one bad experience there... and it was with the service not the food. We had a large group and had made PS's for 2 tables. Somehow they split it to 3 tables and put my DB and SIL way across the room by themselves. When I saw this I objected and volunteered to move to the children's table so they could sit with my parents, DH, and DSis and BIL. Our server at the kids table was FABULOUS! The one at their table had a serious attitude problem and was literally standing there tapping his foot like "I haven't got all day here to take your order!" (We'd only been there 5-10 minutes!) I spoke to the Manager and our server and she took over both tables. When the other server found out that was no longer his table, he took a set of condiments and dropped them onto their table from about 5 inches above the table. Made a nice little clatter! Too bad for him though, my family are REALLY GOOD TIPPERS... he lost about a $30 tip!

I have not seen this attitude (or server) since... I don't think you can order anything bad here. The Reuben and club sandwiches are both excellent. So are the salads and the Banana Split will feed 2-3 people! ENJOY your lunch!
