Plaza ADR during fireworks

We have ADR for 6:45PM at the Plaza on Sunday. The NYE fireworks start at 6:30, but I think won't be done at 6:45. My current plan is just to be as near to the restaurant as we can and get there late hoping we can be seated quickly. I don't think it's really practical to watch the fireworks from inside the restaurant and assume we wouldn't be allowed to leave and come back. If they can't seat us for too long when we get there, we'll just cancel the reservation and grab a bite to eat on our way back to the room.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of situation or other recommendations? I tried for awhile to get a slightly later reservation but never had any luck.

Thanks,
Bruce

You’re correct. You can’t really see the fireworks from inside the restaurant. You can not sit, leave and come back.
If you are late for your ADR (And you will be) a few things can happen. You will loose your slot to be seated and wait - could be a long time. If you cancel youvery well maybe charged the no Show fee.

If you arrive late, they can consider you a no show and charge you the $10 per person on the reservation fee. That's pretty much a counter service per person.

I will just also add that the space near the restaurant, and really anywhere on Main Street/Hub/view of the castle, will be absolute gridlock anytime close to the fireworks and will only get worse as the fireworks begin. We recently arrived at MK just as they were going off on a relatively light crowd day (NOTHING like NYE crowds!) and stood at a standstill right in front of the ice cream shop for 5 minutes before people shifted enough to let the stream of traffic move again.

It's a chaotic mass of humanity and the poor CM's do everything they can to keep it moving but it's just an impossible task.

Saying that so you'll realize that you may find a spot to see the fireworks within spitting distance of the restaurant podium and not be able to get to it for a good 10-15 minutes after/during the fireworks simply due to the crowd. Unfortunately because of the outside tables and umbrellas across from the restaurant, you cannot see a thing so you would have to position yourself further away to see them.

Keep checking - dining spots come open a lot the night before.

Thanks. I decided to cancel the reservation to avoid the stress. No luck with a replacement so far, but we'll be OK with counter service.

Bruce
