for a five year old for christmas.:D

Well my soon to be 5 year old is getting a gamecube for her birthday. This is because she's a mario and zelda nut and wants the new game Mario Sunshine game, and I'm sure the Zelda when it comes out.

For a five year old both my DH and I agree that a GameCube is best. I just think it is better suited for kids :)

Our son will be 7 on Thursday. We got him a Gamecube. I did some research and I found that there are more kid friendly games for Gamecube. Playstation2 and Xbox seem to be geared more towards teen's. They have too many sports games.

Tom...

In my opinion, Gamecube, and all other nintendo systems are more oriendted towards children. I'd get him Gamecube.

I know helenabear already replied for us but the other thing is that PS2 and XBox are known for not having much replay value. After you beat the game, that's about it.

Hmm, not sure I agree with that. I still have tons of fun Grand Theft Auto & Halo. :)

game cube...Mickey's magical Mirror is neat too..:)

I agree with Jeff. Some games you can play over and over again IMO. Like Gauntlet which I am passionate about. We happen to have a Gamecube but this game and many others like it are certainly available for other systems.

I do think that Gamecube is a bit better for kids (of all ages) than the other two. Playstation does have quite a few kids games too though and the variety it has is HUGE. Why not go visit a Best Buy or another place like that and check out the assortment of games for each?

And don't forget that Playstation has that new game that includes virtually all of the Disney characters. It's meant for older kids though kind of like me. ;)

DS, almost 15, has Xbox. For a 5yo, I'd suggest the gamecube also. Much more family-oriented, imo.

When we bought Xbox for DS, we kept N64 specifically for almost- 5yo DD so she'd have something to play that was more geared towards her age (as well as mine)! I have NEVER played Xbox, ever!! It's too 'mature' for me!

I would tell you to RENT this game first. It ended up not being fun for my dd. I don't like it either.
Now ZELDA I'll buy no matter what.

GAMECUBE! My 11 yr old DS loves his. He just got and loves the Monster's Inc game, 7 yr old DD loves it too!!:D He has quite a few sports games also.

While those are two good games. GameCube came out after them and already have:

SuperSmash Bros
MarioKart
The James Bond Game (which escapes my memory right now)
Super Monkey Ball
Super Monkey Ball2
Legend of Zelda

and these are just the ones I have seen.
