Playgrounds

Some of the resorts have children's playgrounds. You know, slides and stuff to climb on, etc. Although our children have not played on one, I have seen several photos of them on various sites.

They appear to be, to be polite, unexceptional. In fact it appears one could often find better at a random public park.

What's the deal? Why would Disney have the playgrounds at all unless they could do something special with them? Have your children used them, and what did you think?

They are just playgrounds. Slide, climbing bar, etc. Nothing exceptional..kids still loved them. The ones in Allstars are mostly int he shade..nice relaxing place. One of the grands came home with pinworms, however a few years back, so be sure they wash up well after using them, and keep their mouths off the equipment. I can't believe all the parents that let their kids go shoeless on the playground.

We stayed at ASMO last year. Every time we were going to or coming back from a park, the kids wanted to stop at the playground and play. They loved it there. Im not much of an expert on playgrounds, but judging from my kids reaction to it, it was definitely a hit.

I think that Disney wants us in the theme parks spending $$$, not at the hotel playing on swings, etc.

We thought the playgrounds were pretty neat! At CBR, it's on an island in the middle of the lagoon with tropical birds, iguanas, etc.. roaming around. At CSR, the theming went right along with the resort. Their was even a cave-like slide that you had to climb in and around. They had a sand box, too. I guess with the pools, slides, fountains, etc... our kids didn't spend the majority of resort time at the playground, but when they wanted a break from swimming or a laid back evening before dinner, we'd go to the playgrounds and they really enjoyed it.
