Play Station 3?

Hiya

Well I just ordered this for he who shall not be named for xmas

so I have a few questions for any one brighter than me as I am technologically challenged

ok so it plays blue ray disks, ok is it region coded for dvds?

and for games?

anybody got any idea what war type games are a must have?

I'll ask DH, he knows all about war games etc funnily enough he keeps leaving the argos catalogue open on that page hummmm?

I bought Mark one last week for his christmas present. I know they have different size memories but not sure how significant it is. I got the bigger memory and it came with two movies and two games. Mark does not like the war games but goes for the boring car racing ones.

I hope they both enjoy it loads while we are Dising!!!!

I'm not sure im 100% right on this but im sure i read it somewhere, the one with the bigger memory plays the ps2 games also.

We got one
It plays all ps2 and ps1 games....
It plays most regular dvds but some don't work from what we've tried.

The ps3 60gb is the only one that will play ps2 games the 40gb will not it is a blue ray player but only play dvd from the UK if bought in the UK it is not multi region so can not buy games or DVD in the USA , also if you have a high defienation TV you need to make sure you have a HDMI cable to attach the ps3 to your TV this will give you the great graphics and sounds that the machine can produce . Sorry I can not give advice on the war games as I have bought it for my 10 year old so the Simpson's game was our first buy .

ok, here are a few war type games;

a must have is Assassins creed, the graphics are exceptional

others are call of duty 4, is the latest
and Blazing Angels 2

That is correct the 60gb will only play ps2 as the 40gb doesnt.
We have bought one for DD but she has the usually games no war games

My son wants a PS3 for his Birthday in January. Is there a good collection of games for it yet though? He likes the football/golf games and has loads for his PS2. We'd have to go for the 60gb then, so it would play all his old games?

I have been told by someone whose son works in Game that the 60GB is being deleted by Sony to make way for the 80GB which will be like the 40GB version in that it will not play PS2 games. I'm not sure how true this is & when it is going to happen. I do know that the Sainsburys I work for hasn't had the 60GB version in for a few weeks now though.

I think Sony could be making a mistake by doing this, as the PS3 wasn't the big hit they thought it was going to be.

I have bought DP fifa 08..he also had a tennis game,Not sure on golf but I do believe I saw it in game...there isnt a big collection available for it as of yet but I guess it will be a matter of time.

I think you can get Tiger Woods Golf on the PS3 too.

Yes you can get both 07 and 08 for the PS3. If you're getting a golf game, make sure you get 08 - "photo game face" is a cool new thing on 08. You can upload a picture of yourself to the game and your player will look like you!

As far as war/first person shooter games I've got Resistance:Fall of Man, which is very good. However, Call of Duty 4 is just out and Metal Gear Solid 4 is about to come out and both get very good reviews.

Motorstorm is a good driving game and something different to the "usual" driving games like GT and Ridge Racer.
