Just had to share and recommend this wonderful experience after we had such a fantastic Thanksgiving there last week! :goodvibes

We were visiting HS on Thanksgiving and had planned to leave before lunch but were having such a good time with reasonable crowds (thanks TGM :lovestruc ) that we decided to stay after all. We saw the Hollywood & Vine restaurant just outside the Indiana Jones show and even though there was a line outside just for securing a table, waited it out for a few minutes and were able to get a table for 8 within 30 minutes.

The Play & Dine buffet was $29 per adult...I can't remember the kids prices but believe it was $16 for kids over 3? My 2.5 yo ate free. Everything was included, drinks, dessert, coffee, etc, and we were happily surprised to discover the food as the best we'd found in any of the parks thus far! :thumbsup2

There were more sophistacated offerings for grown ups, such as baked salmon, lime marinated chicken breast, broccoli slaw with pine nuts, corn souffle' and honey crusted polenta cakes. Littles had PLENTY to choose from, including standard but high quality/wonderfully prepared mac-n-cheese, chicken breast nuggets, mashed potatoes, rotisseri chicken, fresh veggies, fruit salad, cheese and deli slices with fresh whole grain rolls, and a nice dessert spread as well. (Cookies, cake, mini-cupcakes, soft-serve) Our super friendly and fast server brough the grown-ups coffee with real cream and it was so good we would have chosen it over Starbucks any day! :upsidedow

But the BEST part of our meal? The character visits and continuous shows from Playhouse Disney friends! (We enjoyed Jojo and Goliath plus June and Leo from Little Einsteins) The restaurant is thoughtfully laid out for this, with plenty of room and time for every character to visit your table for tickles, pictures, and hugs. Cast members encourage kids to get up from their tables to sing and dance with the shows (which are performed all around the restaurant so everyone has a chance at least once). The setting is small enough so parents can either participate/snap photos nearby or watch from most tables and still keep a safe eye on their little ones. Even the character and kiddie conga line throughout the restaurant stays focused within that dining section. :thumbsup2

Disney Playhouse "Play & Dine" at Hollywood & Vine is ALL about kids! Where else are your kids encouraged to play, sing, dance and jump around outside their seats during a meal? Action packed but with food yummy enough to keep the kids getting a full belly, this was well worth every penny and a new Thanksgiving tradition for our family! :lovestruc

I am so glad you and your family had such a great experience at H&V. There are often lots of negative comments on this one. Our family ate dinner here backin August 2007 and had an experience closer to yours than to the other comments.

I will say a couple of things. I think the buffet you had was closer to the typical Dinner buffet at H&V as the normal lunch buffet includes some of those things, but also a build a sandwich area. Sounds like the Holiday spread was really, really nice.

As for the characters interaction, that seems to get rather consistent positivie comments and I am so glad you were happy with that as well.

Just be sure to make reservations before you arrive next time as getting in without one won't always be so easy. ;)

Hope you had a safe trip home!

I went the day before Thanksgiving for breakfast. I was just commenting to someone this morning that it was the best breakfast we have had so far! meal was great, staff was great, singing, dancing etc...was fantastic.

Worst breakfast so far...Tusker house. Everything was great except the food ICK.

we just ate there friday night and LOVED it. We missed our ressie at Tony's so while in HS we went to Hollywood and Vine. A great choice. I was a little worried also, since i have read such bad reviews, but we had a great meal. Our worst meal of the week was at the GF 1900 Park Fare. It was HORRIBLE!
We were there over 90 minutes and still didn't get both step sisters. The meal was terrible, my 8 year old hated everything as did my 12 year old who loves all foods. I give a big:thumbsup2 to Hollywood and Vine

Great..Im going to 1900 PF tomorrow!!!

We did breakfast at H&V in September. It was by far the best character experience for our 2y/o. He loved dancing with all his favorite characters. I too was worried about going there due to so many negative comments, but like you, we loved it.(We even liked the food!):thumbsup2

Just showin' some love for H&V!:cheer2:

We had lunch there mid-November and I really thought it was a fun meal - the character interaction was some of the best we experienced and the staff was great. I would totally recommend this one.
