Has anyone been to the Plato's Closet in Orange, CT or any of the Plato's closet? I am thinking of taking my dd15 on a roadtrip there (1.5 hours) this weekend, and just want to be sure it would be worth the trip.

Of course, it looks like we will pass by the New Haven, CT Ikea, so I can't see not stopping at Ikea (By the way,in our house Ikea is Swedish for "I Can't" :rotfl2:

We have a Plato's Closet near us and it really depends on if you want to buy or sell. If you are going to sell I don't think it's worth it because they really don't give you much. I'd much rather give clothes to someone who really needs it than get pennies for it! Buying is much better but, it's hit or miss. My daughter would go and find nothing some days & others she'd find tons. :)

The couple I've been to in Mich. have been WAY overpriced and not the best quality clothes, IMO. Of course my dd isn't into name brands, so maybe that would make a difference. I could get brand new on sale at Kohls for about their prices.

But, anything is worth a trip to Ikea!!! :cool1::thumbsup2 I am glad ours is an hour a way, love that place!

We've experience the same for buying, some days my girls find things, other days...nothing. We are lucky because we do have a Plato's very close to us. In fact, our Disney trip is coming up next week and my daughter who is 13 has gathered up a LOT of clothes between hers and my other daughter who is 20, that they don't wear anymore. A lot of good, name brand clothing. I told her we could go to Plato's and see what we get for it, and her and my newphew who lives with us, could split the money for Disney!! :yay:

To buy. Or just to look around. My daughter is into Hollister, Acrombie and Pink stuff. She also loves her bright colors, but nothing too girly.

With school about to start, a lot of things may be picked through. Then again, a lot of people are also cleaning out their closets!! So, it's chance, but hey a road trip and Ikea could make for a fun day!!! :goodvibes

The prices are way too high at our area Platos and some of the clothes I wouldn't put out at a garage sale (worn out). The name brand stuff is really overpriced IMO. We sold an entire box of shoes and clothes which included 3 pair of jeans w/tags from Aero and 3 nwt sweaters ( 1 Hollister) and got a big $27. The next week we saw a pair of the jeans marked $15! I do much better with the sales at the stores than at Platos. DD refuses to shop there, she said it smells. Both of our stores do have a distict smell so they may use a deodorizer or something it's not offensive but my DD is picky!

Sounds like us we do road trips for Platos closet. My favorite was in Florida in South West Orlando near the University, we used to lived there and that's what started us on Platos closet.

Prices seems to have gone up. The last Platos I went to was the one in Orange, Ct. and we didn't like it. It was large but we didn't find stuff we loved, weren't crazy about the workers, and it was extremely expensive. Target or no name tees were $8.00-$10, name brand a little more. We went a couple of times to one in South Jersey and we found stuff we liked better (last time Oct 2011).

Could have been an off week. Not sure.

I made more money selling name brands on ebay, than PC.

Hey! Where in CT are you? I grew up in West Haven, went to college in Danbury, and lived in Norwalk and Stamford before moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan. Oh how I miss the coastline but am glad to be away from I-95. I was so glad they built that Ikea in NH but sadly never got to go to it before we moved. We have Plato's out here, I was not impressed.

I'm not in CT, in North Kingstown, RI.
I didn't know there was an Ikea in NH! NH is my second favorite spot in the world. Can you guess my first?

There is another location in Wethersfield, CT. Depending on your route, maybe you could hit both.

Is the Quonset country club in Kingstown? My sister had her wedding reception there. She lives in Lincoln, RI. And NH is New Haven not New Hampshire.

Hum, I'm new to North Kingstown. I literally live in back of Quonset Point, but I think that the country club is a little bit further. Its funny, I lived in Pawtucket (about 10 minutes from Lincoln) for almost my entire life but I never really learned my way around North Kingstown-and we joke how small RI is

Opps, I thought NH meant New Hampshire
