Platinum Pass-Where to purchase-Orlando or Williamsburg?

I am not sure under which park we should purchase the passes. First off, we are totally new to Seaworld and Busch Gardens. The only reason I am considering this is because I will be spending 4 weeks with my children in Orlando in August and we have never done Seaworld. We are also meanderers and not very good at doing any parks commando style. One of our weeks will be spent at the Marriot Cypress harbour which from what I understand is very close to Seaworld, so I figure being able to come and go as we please during the course of the week would be a good thing.

While we don't have any immediate plans to hit Williamsburg, I can easily see this happening during the next 24 months. Also, spreading the payment over 24 months is a good thing also.

Currently Williamsburg has a buy 3 get 1 free discount, so the price is much better, but would we have to go there first to activate the passes? Also, will we be giving up major benefits at Seaworld by having Williamsburg as our home base?

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

We have the passes from Williamsburg but we live only an hour from there.

We are heading to SW in Orlando in August and justify the platinum passes by going there a couple of times on our Disney trips.

I've heard that you can get all the passes benefits at both parks other than the preferred parking which you only get at your "home" park but I can not verify that.

I'd buy them for which ever park you think you will visit the most in the next 2 years.

The price difference from BG may be enough to justify that too!!

I got my platinum passes at Sea World using EZ pay which came out to $12 a month.I'm from South Fla so I use them often at Busch Gardens Tampa, Sea World and Adventure Island the waterpark next to Busch gardens.I've used them at Busch Gardens Williamsburg 2 times and it also gives me admission to the Sea World's at San antonio and San Diego and the waterpark at Williamsburg and Sesame Place in Pennsylvania.Free parking and good discounts make this a very good deal in my opinion. They've even sent me a free admission to the Luau at Sea World for your birthday which is like $40-$50.

That is funny because this upcoming trip is to celebrate my 40th (or my 21st anniversary of my 19th birthday :rotfl2: )

I am leaning towards purchasing them in Williamsburg because of the buy 3 get 1 free deal. If I have to activate it there I will just stop there on our way to Orlando for a day or two. I went to call today and I just missed their 5:00 closing so I will call tommarrow.

Thanks everyone.

We have had our plat passes based in Williamsburg for about 3 years, and have used them with all the benefits at all the Busch Parks (except Sea World San Antonio, not been there yet). The only place we had any problem was at Sesame Place a few years back. Many of the workers there didn't seem to know that Sesame Place was a Busch Park and didn't want to give us the food discount, but a manager cleared that up. We use our refillable cups and popcorn buckets interchangeably at all the parks.

The passes are great for the reserved seating at the Shamu show.

I live in Williamsburg and we have had gold passes to Busch Gardens and Water Country for the last 5 years. We decided to upgrade to Platinum this year because we knew that we were coming to Disney and SW. My understanding of the Platinum pass from the Guest Relations office at Busch Gardens, is Preferred Parking at all AB parks. 10% discount on food and novelty items amonst other things. We do also have the buy 3 get one free, they have had that here for about 2 years now. It is a great perk, it began originally as a local offering for Williamsburg Residents, but neighboring cities began to purchase as well or they had someone else address in Williamsburg. I would go on and get them in Williamsburg, you can purchase them thru Williamsburg, I don't think it matters where you activate them at. Hope that helps.
