I know this has likely been asked before in some form. I apologize for asking again, but I want to make sure I understand this correctly.

We have 2 rooms, one has my son (who's an adult now) and my nephew. My family (including my son) are Platinum. I understand all adults who are Platinum are eligible for one complimentary Palo dinner.

But what does it mean in the CC member information that this benefit includes those travelling in the stateroom (or something to that effect)? Does that mean that my nephew who will be staying with my son, even though he is a first timer, will also get a complimentary Palo dinner?

For some reason, I just assumed it's only for those who are actually Platinum. Please understand that I am not trying to get something free. I booked the dinner assuming I would have to pay for him. I just want to know the correct policy.

I'd appreciate your help. Thank you. :)

The room that the Platinum CC member is in gets a complimentary Palo meal. All adults 18 and over IN THAT ROOM get the meal.

From the CC club benefits page on the DCL website:
Platinum Complimentary Dinner at Palo***
Savor an elegant evening with one complimentary dinner at Palo, available to Platinum member and Guests staying in member's stateroom***.
  • ***Offer includes dining service fee for one dinner, for Platinum Castaway Club member and Guests staying in member's stateroom who are 18 years of age or older. Subject to availability. Limited to one complimentary experience per stateroom, per sailing.

We personally have had extended family in our room that received the benefit with us. That was a few years ago and at the discretion of the manager. We have not traveled with family since 2017 but we have heard DCL has tightened up the application of the rule.

If your party really wants to dine I say plan on going and have a polite and good attitude.

I doubt that they've "tightened" up anything. The perk is listed on the DCL website (as I posted) and it's worded the same as it's been for years.

All people in the same room as the Platinum Castaway Club member who are 18 and over are comped the free meal.

On our cruise last month, we had a room with a platinum child and a Gold adult. That adult received complimentary dinner in Palo. We didn’t have to ask - it was taken care of automatically.

That has happened in our family also.

Thanks so much everyone!

This is the first time we're travelling with relatives since becoming Platinum so I never really thought of it until I read someone's post it. I wasn't sure if that's what it meant. I did notice the wording, but again, didn't really matter since we were travelling with only my family and we're all Platinum.

I already booked my nephew so it's not dependent on whether his dinner is free...it's just a nice bonus.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the response. :)

Is the complimentary Palo for Platinum only, or do concierge adults also receive that benefit?

Platinum only. The only food-related perk for Concierge is the ability to have MDR dinner served in the room if you have a 1BR suite or larger.

Thank you. I figured as much, but thought I would check. That would have been an unexpected surprise.

Many years ago we traveled with another couple who were on their first Disney cruise and we booked a "boys room" and a "girls room" so that both rooms would have a platinum cruise (and at night both rooms were co-ed :lovestruc). They were also connecting rooms and it worked out well for all of us. And a "free" Palo meal for everyone.
