This is *NOT* a debate.

We're paying for all our meals out of pocket. The DDP doesn't make sense for us because A) DD is just under four years old and is a nibbler, so buying even a children's plate for her is a waste and B) I've lost almost 40 pounds this year and if we got the DDP I would feel like I was wasting money if I didn't eat every single thing included.

What I want to know is if plate-sharing is discouraged. Do the restaurants mind if an adult shares a meal with a child? (DH will be eating a meal on his own.)

When ours were small never a problem to share. From what I've been reading on this site, adults aren't having a problem. I wouldn't worry, just do it. Have a great trip!!

we do it all the time. tell them when you order and they gladly bring another plate.

I guess I should mention this would not be allowed at the buffets.

My Mom and I have shared many meals! Appetizers, main course and dessert!!

They have been great about this at all the restaurants we visited, and even split our main course order up on two plates for us at Cali Grill and Beaches & Cream!

Okay, that's good to know. :goodvibes DD is one of those who eats two or three bites at dinner and says she's full, but 30 minutes later she wants a snack. She just doesn't eat a lot at one time - she nibbles all day long. Buying even a kid's meal would be a waste of money and food because she wouldn't eat it. And I don't want to be tempted to overeat either, so sharing with her would keep me in check.

Definitely do not worry about it. Since you're paying out of pocket for that food, share it or eat as much as you like it's no one's business!!!

Have a magical, happy, and food-fun (not food stressful!) trip!!!!!

I share with my kids all the time-DS2 eats off my plate, and sometimes DS11 and DS5 share a meal (DS11 has to order an adult meal if we do the dining plan even if he only eats kid portions). The portions are so big, even on the children's meals it's a waste to get everyone their own and have to throw away half of it.

You might want to avoid the buffets since you would have to pay for your daughter since it's per person and not based on how much that person eats. Of course, you might want to avoid buffets since you've been doing well with your diet and don't want to be tempted.

Our experience at Disney World with sharing meals has us doing that here at home in restaurants as well. All you have to do is say "we'll be sharing *point to you and your daughter* the *name of meal*". Very easy.
