I've got the first day of my holiday already planned out. In the morning after breakfast me and the family will be heading to Aquatica for a couple of hours then as soon as we've dried off, we'll then head straight next door to Seaworld and get a turkey sub for dinner and get on some rides. I'm planning on getting on the Kraken and Manta when I'm there. We'll even feed some dolphins. My dad never got to do this last time but we're doing it this time which will make him happy.

As for the rest of the holiday, well me and the family will just make it up as we go along ;)

Does anyone else have plans for the first day of their holidays?

I don't want to sound negative, but, if it were for myself I would find it a bit tiring for a first day.

Your family may be different from mine, so I'll give you my opinion from my family's point of view.
Pool or water park is usually quite exhausting for us (you need way more energy to move around in water) so plane the previous day + jet lag + heat + water park + seaworld = high potential for total collapse of the whole family by 4pm.

You might be fine with this plan. Just make sure that you don't risk to overdo it.
I think it's a bit too much and way too optimistic.

but that's just my opinion.

my first day plan is :
Breakfast (IHOP or breakfast buffet)
MK and a quick CS meal for lunch.
Shopping in the afternoon (publix, target, walmart for example)
Cici's pizza or Domino's in the evening

that's a very light plan, it helps us shave the jet lag off. Serious things start on day 2

We take it easy the 1st day too - tend to find we're up early, so go to an early entry park but leave when we've had enough -probably lunchtime and then have a relaxing pm. In 2010 DD wasn't well and we left park after a couple of hours (unheard of for us!) but we really enjoyed spending most of the day around our resort pool.

How about you swap the day around if you're up early - go to Seaworld when it 1st opens and do rides you want to do, and spend rest of day in Aquatica - if you've energy left you can ride/swim, if not relax on a sunbed!

Have a great holiday:thumbsup2

we only go for one week so taking it easy is never an option. However we make no plans for arrival evening so up early on first day (thankfully not at such a silly time as when the children were very small and it used to be about 3am :( )

Big buffet breakfast at 7 or 7.30am at our WDW resort (our tums think it's lunchtime so we always eat loads) a full morning at MK - always at MK. Leave about 2pm and chill out at resort before a decent ts meal at dinner and then factor in some sort of evening entertainment but knowing the kids will be ready for bed at about 9pm even now.

The first day is always Magic Kingdom for us, we'll get there early grab breakfast at Main Street Bakery after getting on a few rides. Last year we had a 5.30pm ADR at 1900 Park Fare and it was far too late, my DD who was 10 at the time fell asleep while we waited for our table so next year we won't be booking any ADRs for the first day we'll head back to the resort relatively early and get an early night ready for a full on day the next day. Everyone's holiday styles are different and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time whatever you do xx

first day...up and out as soon as we wake up. This is normally at around 8am by the time we are on the WDW transport. This year we are more then likely heading straight out to MK and will prob stay there until about 3 (leaving just before the parade starts). Then we will monorail it to Epcot and stay there for the rest of the day. Our two fav parks are a must on day one. We don't plan anything, we just wing it and eat when we are hungry where ever we are at the time...This time in 4 weeks will be our first full day:goodvibes

This year like the last couple will be sleep late and then head for a lunch time ADR at SCI FI. Have a wonder around for a bit after that and then head back to the resort to chill out. We don't try to hit any rides we just soak up the atmosphere. If we get there early enough DH will go on star tours.

We start with an early ADR - in the past we have done Cape May, Tusker House, CRT and next time we are at Ohana. Then we hit a park till lunch time.

Collect car and head to Publix. Swim and dinner then back out for a few hours. :thumbsup2

What we normally tend to do is as we're all up at silly o'clock on the first day, we'll go to golden corral and have a big buffet brekkie to set us up for the day and then go on to Seaworld. We always go here on the first day as this park is normally quite leisurely for the first day. When we went this year we managed to last till about 3pm before the time difference caught up with us

Our 1st day tradition is a take it easy one:

Up and out early with breakfast in Crystal Palace, MK.
Grab a fast pass for Splash and take on a few of our favourites.
Leave park for a chilled afternoon round the pool and maybe popping to Target/Walmart for supplies.
Return to MK for the first of many viewings of Wishes!
Bed.

We like to take it easy on the first day and find our fair scottish skin too sensitive for a water park until we have built up a bit of a base tan.

Our first day this year is an 0800 breakfast at the Whispering Canyon and then probably most of the day at the Magic Kingdom.....

Always the same tradition for us :)

First through the rope drop at MK and yes, we are always the very first. The kids get a big kick out of this! Lunch at 1pm at Crystal Palace, MK parade then back to the hotel to swim and chill. I never book an ADR for the evening of the first day because at some point after 3pm the time difference starts to show. This avoids anyone having a melt down.

This year, DBF and I are having breakfast at CRT at 9am, catching a few rides, leaving when we feel we need to, having a nap/swim in afternoon, and then watching the fireworks on Poly beach with a cocktail if we feel like it! I am so excited!
Xx

This year we'll be going to AK on our first day. We're usually up really early on our first day so will go to AK in the morning and see how we feel in the afternoon/evening.

Our first day is breakfast in the hotel room. Head to magic kingdom for opening ceremony, just enjoy being in Disney, may be do a few rides, see a we characters, back for a rest then back to Cinderellas royal table for dinner I am so excited!

These are all excellent plans for the first day. Hope you all have a fantastic time on your holidays as I will :)

Previous years we have been awake early, so headed off to AK as it opens early, and closes early too. With dinner at Rainforest!

Lucky for us, we have manged to get a few long holidays in in the last few years. Last year when our eldest daughter was not even 2 and our yougest just 4 months, i despite having been to Disney about 5 times, we or rather I in my infintate wisdom booked us in for 6pm CRT ADR on our FIRST day!!! :scared1:

We spent all day in the park, our daughter who ALWAYS had an afternoon nap in her buggy, wherever we were! However the MAGIC was too much and she just wouldnt sleep - we thought we could wait it out BIG MISTAKE!! :rotfl:

The picture she had taken with Cinderella is certainly one to treasure, as she practicallly fell asleep on her lap! :confused3

This year when we went, and next year when we go back, we have booked this for the first night as it is our tradition now for us to go to CRT the first night at disney, but we would already have been in Orlando 2 weeks so no jet lag. YAY!! :thumbsup2

Our first day this time around will be an early start, with 3 children under 4 this cant be avoided.

The kids will have cereal of some description. Hubbie and I will get Starbucks on our way through City walk, for a day in IOA and US - we see these as taking it easy parks, as we have seen it so many times so dont NEED to ride. The only must is Suess Landing for girls and a mooch round WWOHP!

Head back to Idrive, and get a take away of some description which we can eat in the room. We try to stay up until at least 9:30 for the first 2 days, which seems so easy, but that little fella called jet lag is a cretin and he gets us everytime!!!

On our 1st day im always up super early and have the boys washed and dressed before Dh is even awake! "he says that its the only time im ever willing to get out of bed before lunch":lmao:

On our 1st family trip we just decided on the day as we didnt know how our 1yr old twins and 3 yr old was going to be after the long flight etc, we ended up in Ak which i never thought would be the choice :rotfl2: 2nd and 3rd trip we did Mk with a Crystal palace lunch which was always tradition when i was little so i wanted to carry it on with my own children!

This yr we are going to Mk nice and early as the boys and I can never sleep in on that 1st day! we have a early lunch ressie for Crystal palace for 11.30 then we may head back for a nap or we might try and stick it out as for the 1st time ive booked a evening TS on the 1st day which i never do if we have already had a TS meal, ..... so this its at Chef Mickeys for 6.30 which is a 1st try for us, I know my boys will just love this place as the twins favourite is Pluto, and Brandon likes all of them :).......

It's traditional for us to get an early breakfast ADR at CP on our first morning. I love going into MK when it's practically empty. We have some great photos from previous trips! When our DDs were young we just used to play it by ear but now we tend to spend most of the day in MK and then leave for our dinner ADR and then onto whichever park has EMH.
