Plans for a new pavilion announced for Epcot

I'm really disappointed. I wanted something new at Epcot, but this isn't it. I was hoping for a new country.

Does the size of the new building look comparable to the size of TST or PFH meet and greet areas? I'm wondering if Olaf or Kristoff may also meet in this new building.

13,000 square foot building which i understand is quite bigger than PFH.

I can't consider that a full pavilion. It's one building with a meet and greet and a restroom, and a few backstage parking spaces. That's a huge building though. Either it'll be a big restroom or there will be several sets of the same princesses meeting in there.

Makes me wonder though if they will be taking out that entire area where the restrooms are now, or at least the women's restroom.

It's not really a huge building - about the size of three McDonald's put together. But yeah, it might be enough for more than one greeting session.

Cool! So, at least 4 meet and greet rooms. Maybe 1/2 for A&E and the other half an Olaf/Kristoff? That's still a lot of face characters unless they separate A & E...

So this is what Disney comes up with to improve Epcot? Lack luster at best. No need to build a pavilion for this just use one of multiple empty spaces already existing in epcot.

Great news if you have little girls or if you are an adult and Frozen is your thing. Not so much for the rest of us. Try and keep teen boys excited about going to WDW when Harry Potter World is calling. Don't worry boys Epcot is getting a Frozen attraction:rolleyes:

Hopefully by the time these Frozen attractions open, the movie will still be popular/relevant.

Every time someone says this I can't help but point out - Splash Mountain. Most kids probably don't even know it's based on a movie, but still love the ride regardless. If it's done WELL, that's what matters.

They are getting Star Wars...think we keep forgetting that.

I'm not sure why everyone assumes Frozen will be a flash in the pan. Yes, it's popularity will diminish but not to the extent that it will be forgotten.

People "worry" that Frozen will be unpopular 2 years from now, but did anyone fear that the Mine Train would flop? After all, they waited 75 years to build it.

(Insert "it took them 75 years to build it" joke here)

Who is assuming it will be a "flash in the pan"? I think at this point it is pretty safe to say it isn't I was stating that I was hoping it still is (which is 180 degrees different from saying it won't be) obviously I am wrong. Obviously from the Splash Mountain example which I wasn't aware of it doesn't matter anyway.

With any ride anyway the biggest factor will be if the attraction is good or not.

Yes, this is very true. Like it or not, Frozen is a new classic and will likely be fondly remembered for a long, long time. It may not be the hottest thing for the kiddies at a certain point, but it seems like a keeper for Disney. Things like Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid are still quite popular, and have gotten recent attractions built for them. Kids still love them 20 years hence.

I like that they're building something new at Epcot, though I still believe other areas need help more. Maelstrom needed an upgrade, but did it need one as badly as some areas of Future World (The Seas, Energy, Imagination!)? Still, I look forward to the expansion and hope it will be very enjoyable.

My evaluation of the attraction will simply be how I enjoy it. I have yet to see the movie or even hear that song so it will be fresh for me.

Bah. Got me all excited for nothing.

I'm not anti-Frozen, and I had no deep abiding love for the Maelstrom, but this is NOT a new pavilion.

The biggest thing Avatarland has going against it is that people have prejudged it because it's based on an existing IP.

While an IP can increase or decrease your enjoyment of an attraction, it shouldn't determine whether your enjoyment is non-existent or automatic.

When??? Kind of hard to get excited for something 5 years into the future. HP is open now! My 8 yr old son will be in HS by the time SWL opens in Fl I bet.

That's a whole different issue, speed of building...would have been great if they had a new Star Wars land open in time for the new movie announcement...but they have been designing it...sure teh new Frozen section will open first, but it is just a meet and greet...if all we get out of the new SW land is a meet and greet I will be mad. To get rides takes longer...HP world took several years as well...it is open NOW, sure...but why complain that WDW is building an area that appeals to girls when they have MANY areas that are boy friendly, if not all out mostly appealing for boys?

Oh yes, that I am well aware of, movies really have no relevance to the enjoyment of a ride. However I do think it can help to have it be popular though in the end the sustainability has nothing to do with a movie.
