i had to do a little shuffling of our vacation plans and want some reassurance! We were originally going to arrive in WDW 12/29 and spend NYE in Epcot. That is now changed to arriving on NYE and hanging out at DTD(not Pleasure Island) maybe eating at Earls of Sandwich followed by Ghirardellis and then hoping to catch the fireworks. Does this sound like a good idea? I know I over obsess, but I am so worried we won't enjoy NYE as much as if we didn't rearrange our plans, but it couldn't be avoided. Thank for your help!! :goodvibes

Epcot is open until 1am, if that makes a difference in your plans.

If not, we think avoiding the parks altogether is a great idea for NYE. Downtown Disney, the Boardwalk Resort, or even finding something to do off site are a great alternative to being squeezed like Spam in a can on NYE.

If you absolutely positively MUST see the fireworks, book late dining at the Poly and watch Wishes from the beach.

I think avoiding the parks on NYE is also the best advice. My DS and I went to Epcot last year and the crowds were so overwhelming that I got clautrophobic and had to leave ( I am not normally claustrophobic). We got stuck in two human traffic jams...one at Mexico and one at Canada. It took close to two hours to make it to the exit from Canada at 8:00pm. This year we will also be spending NYE at DTD...I hope that it will not be too terribly bad.

Thanks for the suggestions :) I'm really re-thinking my DTD plans now because I don't want to get caught in a major traffic jam around the marketplace area after midnight. Do you think most people stay later or leave right after fireworks? :confused3

Are you staying on site or off? If on site...you can use the transportation system..it will still be busy, but you won't have to worry about parking. If off site, traffic may be a problem, but people do it. As for after, probably half the people leave and half stay. It is always good to stay after so that the majority of the crowds can leave and traffic will not be as bad. Hope that helps...I kinda think I may have made it more confusing.

We are staying off-site the first night, so we will be driving. :scared1:
