I have been out of the loop for a while- just starting to plan a trip for next fall and wanted to use easyWDW as a resource. A friend recommended it but then said that the owner is probably going to take site down soon- that he was sick of doing the blog and all the work for free and keeping the bored housewives happy in the forum, so I hate to start relying on it when it will be probably disappear mid-planning. I looked around on the easyWDW site and it seems very difficult to actually find info anyway. Don’t really care for the blog format.

What other planning sites are recommended now? I am familiar with touringplans.com and I see WDWPrepSchool- which is better?

I would be very shocked if Josh were to take the site down any time at all, never mind soon. (And I'm sure he's making money as one of the authors of The easy Guide to Your First Walt Disney World Visit.) The best places to find info for planning are the crowd calendars and the cheats sheets - the links for both are on the right side of the page.

I was just over there on Easy the other day and it really is true. He said it himself in the I'm just saying thread. I would not use it if you do not want to be left in the middle of planning.

Dave's **************.com is good as is the non character areas of Kenny's kennythepirate.com.

Relax, everybody. This was posted on that same forum yesterday:

Okay I changed my mind easywdw will last forever

Whew. He really had me worried there. Josh has become my first choice for all of my WDW planning and info for the last few years. And the snark is irreplaceable.

Ha, looks like we have our answer.

Josh's site is easily the best for WDW crowd info. I discovered his site prior to my trip last year...worked beautifully.

I don't know why you're laughing, but I've been a member of the Easy site for quite a while and I'm recently bothered by his recent statement:

"Over 10 million visitors and 30 million pageviews this year. I guess that's pretty good. There's about seven months before easywdw either becomes financially viable or disappears. I'm not throwing another $3,000 away on hosting."

Why would he say this if he weren't at least considering it, and obviously book sales must not be that great. What is his source of revenue?

And then he said, "Sorry I probably shouldn't have said anything. Even if this site made $100,000 a year I don't think I would continue doing it." Followed by, It's okay, a couple of months ago I had to make myself sound really, really pathetic to get some very bored housewives to remove a bogus negative review of my precious "The easy Guide."
I'd probably stick around if Florida weather wasn't so miserable."

I think I'm going to need to look for a new site, too. It really doesn't look as though he plans on sticking around much longer :(

Both sites are good. And even if in the future, EasyWDW comes down, the information has been useful.

Other sites that I use...the travel wizard found on ourlaughingplace; militarydisneytips; the ADR calculator at pscalculator.net; and finally mousesavers. Even reading through the Disney Mom's forum used to help...so many situations; so many questions.

I just read that thread mentioned above- those remarks by the owner are very strange. Why would he say he is done and complain about the cost of running the site? If he is making so much money selling books why would the cost of running the site be a concern now? Was it just to get attention or what? His attitude is very telling and a bit immature. Doesn’t sound like he is all that into it or his members anymore. Or is that supposed to be snark? An early April Fool’s joke? Is he always like that? Doesn't seem very welcoming or stable.

I am probably reading too much into it but I was a member of TGM years ago when things starting getting weird like that. Many claimed that TGM would never die either and look what happened there.

I think I will take a look at the other sites recommended here- thank you Dan Murphy and HollieS.

Somehow these sorts of threads bring out the 20 to 25 insane Tour Guide Mike supporters that are still somehow left in the wild.

Good luck with Touring Plans.

I think you meant to quote 2ndstartotheright; I never mentioned anything about Touring Plans. ;)

Wdw prep school, touring plans, allears. I don't like easywdw myself.

Why do you always respond by laughing? Or is it nervous laughter?

If you really are Josh from EasyWDW, could you please answer why you posted this statement:

"Over 10 million visitors and 30 million pageviews this year. I guess that's pretty good. There's about seven months before easywdw either becomes financially viable or disappears. I'm not throwing another $3,000 away on hosting."

I know that I'm probably just another bored housewife on your forum, who bought your book (and I may now consider retracting the positive review I left for you on Amazon) So tell me, and the rest of us, why would you write that in your forums if you were not at least thinking about it?

It makes me feel so sad, and I used to be one of your loyal followers :(
