Planning our Wilderness Lodge Adventure! Nov 8-15 ~ We are back!

What a great date night! And you are looking fiiiiine! Congrats on all your hard work with the WW!

:rotfl2: If the same thing happened on my trip, it wouldn't surprise me a bit!

That was so nice of your dad! Whew!!!
That is a great idea about taping it to the door! I was going to put it in my PassPorter but I can already hear DH saying "Hon, where's the PassPorter?" :headache: :rotfl: I'm so taping it to the door...now if he asks me where the door is, then we have REAL issues! ;)

I know! My dad is awesome. I was amazed he got from POR to POP and back without getting lost, seeing as at that point, we only had the crappy-butt map.

Mini-Rant here: I hate that map they give you. It's disproportionate, it has no street names, streets are missing, and you cannot navigate using it!

We were trying to get from Pop to WL, and I was like, I think you take this turn maybe? But there were no signs or anything, and we ended up at DAK. We were ALMOST late to our ressie, because then, when we went through the MK gate, the guy was like "Go that way" and that was his directions. Then, we looped around, u-turned, went back through the gate with a different guy, and figured it out. Hey, I hadn't been to Disney in 8 years. I'm supposed to remember which way is which? Plus, I wasn't driving then. Then, we go down the street and make it to WL, and we're waiting for the other car (we split up into two cars because it was a big group, plus my uncle and cousin had come to eat), and they're like "We're at the big hotel" "Which big hotel?" "The big one" "Okay, you're going to HAVE to be a little more specific!" "The big one by the lake" "Oh. That one. Okay, are you at WL or the Contemp?" "I don't know" "Do you see a sign?" "No" "Is it wood with green roofs?" "No." "Okay, you're at the wrong one. Go into the hotel and ask."

It was insane.

Anyways, I'll shut up. lol

Yeah, I should hope he can find the door! :rotfl:

Are the doors metal like cruise ship doors? Then go to Michaels and buy one of those photo magnet holders for an 8 x 10 photo. You can put the list on the door and it won't come loose!

I have no idea if they are at WL or not? Maybe on the WL FAQ, they'd know.

10-22-2008 - Pictures and a countdown update

Here are a few happenings in the life of me:

Yay updates! Looks like a fun date night! :thumbsup2

ADORABLE!!!!

Your trip is so close!:yay:

What a beautiful restaurant! I think I would like tiramasu and coffee for breakfast!

The crocs are super cute! The color is great!

Henry is too cute taking off the countdown numbers!

It really is a neat restaurant - the bathrooms feel like you are in a very elegant cave, if that makes any sense!

Thank you for the compliments on the Crocs and Henry. :goodvibes It was a hard choice on the Croc color-I naturally gravitated toward black or brown, but the bright orange was fun too! I went for something fun, but still could be worn practically with just about everything.

What a great date night! And you are looking fiiiiine! Congrats on all your hard work with the WW!

Thank you!! It's been such a good expierence on learning to eat right and balanced. I have about 8 more to go, they are coming off veryyyy slowly-hopefully that means they'll never come back! ;)

:rotfl: I hope I never have to drive at WDW! Ugh, sounds like a total mess! But at least it makes for a funny story after the fact! :lmao: I have heard more than once it's not an easy place to navigate.

ADORABLE!!!!

Your trip is so close!:yay:

Thank you! Yes, it is! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

How sweet! And I noticed that that Mickey day had Brooklynn's favorite mermaid, Awull.

Henry's face is going to just light up when he sees all the characters for real. Just two and half rows to go! We have five weeks, and that seems close, so yours seems really, really close. Too bad our trips couldn't have overlapped, but with my teaching schedule, this is what I have to do. Your crowds will be much lighter than ours, but a crowded Disney is better than no Disney at all.

I can't believe we are getting so close to our trip! Yeahhh!

It looks like you had a really nice dinner. Your husband seams really thoughtful! We just celebrated our anniversary recently too!

Your crocs are cute! I got some brown mickey ones and love them!

DH is getting sucked in! Is he staying away from your PTR or is he going to find out about the "you-know-what"... and gotta laugh about his reaction to doing a TR together.... just you wait!!

I forgot to say that DH asked me almost right away what my screen name was and I said "Nope! Not telling you! I have secret squirrel information in my report that YOU CAN'T SEE!" :rotfl:

DH said "And today is the one girly sticker..." :rotfl2: I love Awull!

I am really excited about watching Henry's reactions to everything. At our church someone often dresses up as a dog for the kids and Henry just looooves him. He just might recognize Tigger, Mickey and Pooh!

I know it! It's finally, finally here!

My DH can be very thoughtful. After two years he's starting to really learn what makes me "click". And the same for me with him.

Congratulations on your anniversary as well!

And thank you for the compliment on the Crocs! I love the Mickey head holes on the Disney ones!

ETA: Is your DD walking yet? Henry has taken a couple steps, but isn't walking regularly and isn't fully steady yet. It seems he gets closer and closer each day though!

DD took her first steps at the end of September. Ever since she has been walking up a storm. She is so proud of herself. She has a big smile on her face every time she walks. It is an amazing thing! Enjoy every second with Henry because it doesn't last long. Before you know it they are steady movers!

That is what everyone tells me, "Don't rush it!" I know how hard it is sometimes to keep him contained now, I cannot even imagine when they are fully walking!

Henry took his first steps at the beginning of this month (the 2nd), he's now up to about 7 or 8 in a row, but then plops down. So much can happen with a baby (he's NOT A TODDLER YET! ;)) in two weeks, I'm still thinking he'll be pretty solid by Disney time.

Henry smiles really big too when he walks-he sorta catches his breath, puts out his hands for balance and grins and giggles. It's so adorable. It's amazing how quickly they grow. Some mornings I look at him after he has woken up and say "You grew last night, didn't you?"

Aw! Yay for starting to walk!

My little man is particularly advanced with stuff like walking, crawling, etc. He's been walking since 9 months.

But, he still is toothless. :scared1:

How's Henry doing talking? Jacques says "No" "Hello" and "Kitty", and sometimes you can get a "Mamamamama" or "Dadadadada" out of him.

Hi Brook,

I have seen you post on MeMom and food porn and other threads. I thought I would check out your pre-TR. Wilderness Lodge is on my dream list (I aspire to be a deluxe snob but will probably never make it:rotfl2: )

Sounds like you have a bunch of fun plans. My b-day is in November and I hope to convince DH to take me for my 40th in a couple years. Can't wait to hear your adventures when you return.

Safe travels and have fun!!

Happy Belated Anniversary Brook! Loved the food porn!

And, good grief, Henry is sooo adorable! I can only imagine the pix you're going to get on this trip! Did you pre-order the photopass CD? Last I looked, they were running a special: order the cd and get a photobook for $49.95 (reg.$69.95). I've done the cd and thought it was a good deal; usually come home with over 200 pix on that thing. I've never done the photobook though; have seen some examples from other DISers and I'm thinking about it!(like I NEED to give Disney more of my money! )

BTW - love the Crocs! You may be convincing me to give them a try!

15 DAYS!!!!!!!!

My SIL's little guy was an early walker too, right around 9 months. I can't even imagine!

Henry got his first teeth pretty late too actually, which is GOOD. I think he was probably around 8 or 9 months when he start popping them. Even at his 1 year birthday he only had the bottom 2 and the top 2 eye teeth were juuuuust starting. And now suddenly he's got about 8!

Henry says a few words, "Mama!" is his favorite. And "Da". He does "Mi" for milk (along with the sign) and has said "Hi" "cow" and "duck", but those aren't regular.

Hello there and welcome! I recgonize you by your siggy. :goodvibes I am getting more and more excited about staying at the WL, it looks so incredible the more I learn about it and see. I am looking forward to soaking it all in...:cloud9: Hold off on deluxe as long as you can-it's dangerously addictive! ;) (and kills the pocket book!)

15 DAYS!!!!!!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes I got involved in a Photopass Share here on the DIS, so I paid about $30 for the Photopass. When we went in 2006 we got about 12 pictures TOTAL on our Photopass, I was super bummed and didn't bother to buy them. I hope this year we run into more of the photographers and can take advantage of it. The photobook sounds really neat! I love that kind of stuff. When you purchase the CD or the download, do you get rights to print the pictures? (I would imagine so?) There are other Photobooks out there (shutterfly.com) that are cheaper...of course I doubt they have a Disney theme...

Tomorrow is TWO WEEKS! Can you believe it???

And speaking of photobooks...me being the SUCKER that I am for scrapbooking stuff...despite my incredible UN-talent....see next post...:sad2:

10-24-2008 - I'm a total sucker

The other night Henry and I were crusing Target and what did I just happen to come upon?

Stinkin' Disney scrapbook stuff.

:headache:

I can't resist this stuff! It was in a kit! It looks so easy!

IMG_0590Small.jpg

So I got the album (left) that has a few papers in it, some stickers and some border type things. Then an extra page kit with more papers, more stickers and other stuff. :headache:

I'm such a sucker!

Meanwhile my milestones scrapbook kit for Henry that I bought when he was about 7 weeks old still sits UNTOUCHED.

Seriously, it's an illness. I'm NOT crafty. Yet, I can resist buying the stuff. I tell myself "I'm gonna do it." but it scares me.

I'm still in the mindset that I will do complete the scrapbook. Both this one and the Milestones one. I will. I will. I think I can, I think I can...

You may have noticed the Cars notebook as well-that's our new trip journal! It was either that or Camp Rock. I thought Cars was more fitting and less embarassing for DH in case I made him carry it at some point.

Speaking of DH and the trip journal, he is talking about taking notes as well-notes on things I say, or point out, or things he notices, so someday he can plan a surprise trip for me! :lovestruc

And back to crafting...
DPP_0001Small.jpg

My LGMH's are done! I had written my name on them and when DH saw them he asked if I was going to make him one since he is now a proud member of the DIS with his grand total of ONE post... I thought that was soooo sweet and I instantly put his name on them all-except the last one, which he laminated before I had a chance to write his name on it.

He did the laminating job for all of them. And he's such a big nerd that he actually owns a laminating machine. I love it. The one of the left without a hook we are going to pin to our Baggalini. He also trimmed them all so they would look "cuter". LOL

DH has also said about 4 times in the last 2 days "We need to get the suitcases out." Yes, yes, he's a keeper.

And completely off topic, but I can't resist---a very small sampling of Henry's 1 year pictures that we just got back tonight...

I think this is my favorite.

Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day with the extended family, so I probably won't make it on, so I have to say it now....tomorrow marks us at TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hurray for two weeks!

I am a sucker for scrapbooking stuff, too -- you should start working on your albums -- once you start, you won't be able to stop!

Your LGMH turned out great -- I never thought about putting clips on them -- that's a great idea!

Henry's pictures are adorable -- the ones of all three of you turned out really good, too!

My SIL does scrapbooking "getaway weekends" with some relatives and friends, I think I'm going to go along on the next one of these and get working on the albums--problem is I have no clue when the next one is...good thing I'll be doing a trip journal! :thumbsup2

DH is the one who thought of the clips, since they came with his laminating machine, I thought it should work pretty well!

Thank you for the compliments on the pictures. :goodvibes I am really happy with how they turned out. Now the problem is picking out which ones to get printed...

I've got a little 'deja vu' going here. I thought I had already commented on the pictures, but I see that I haven't. My favorite two are the first and last ones. His grin is so cute in the first one by the Coca-Cola box, and the one with you guys kissing him is just so sweet. What a blessed little guy he is to be so loved!

Jill loves to do the scrap booking, too. She has really great books for most of our trips, but she is just up to the March trip right now. She's still got to finish that one, do one for the October trip, and then do the upcoming trip. After that, she doesn't have any trips until July because of the upcoming baby, so maybe she can get caught up before next summer's big adventure with two little ones! She loves to make them, but she doesn't get the chance to just work on them uninterrupted very often.

And, here are some friends to do the two week dance for you! :dance3:

Wow those pictures are amazing!

Thank you! We love the photographer we went to. She also did our wedding pictures and is a friend of ours. In our teeny town it's nice to have a talented photographer! And bonus...she's VERY well priced! We got to keep EVERY picture (she took around 175) and have rights to them on a CD, so we can print whatever we want, and we didn't pay that much more than what we would have at Target for about 15 prints. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I think the one where we are kissing him is my favorite family shot.

I cannot imagine scrapbooking with 2 little ones around! :rotfl: I haven't even tried it with just Henry around...I would have to get organized and find a place to set it all up that Henry cannot get close to...and do it after he's gone to bed I think....

Has Jill ever shared pictures of her scrapbooks? I just LOVE looking at other people's and seeing their creativity. I am one that needs a page outline given to me and create it like "paint by numbers". ;)

My fav is the one with him sitting in the truck!

That truck is from his Poppa (Grandpa), and he pushes it around the house allll the time, so we had to get some pictures with it. It was DH's idea to put him IN the truck and I love how it came out! And his little foot is poking out there...I love me some baby feet...!
