I've been wanting to introduce myself and begin somewhat of a planning journal which will obviously be through the eyes of a mother of the bride. Obviously I am old enough to be most of your mothers so my thoughts will be from a different perspective. I am a professional person with the best job in the world most of the time (OB/GYN). My proudest accomplishment however, is my wonderful daughter who is the light of my life and the best thing I almost never did (I was 37 years old when she was born). I raised her basically as a single mother since my husband and her father left us when she was 5 months old. She was 10 months old when her father saw her last and we recently learned that he died last year. Disney has always been where we would go when we needed an escape or rejuvenating so planning a wedding in our "happy place" was only natural.

My daughter will graduate from college in December and will be looking for a job like lots of others soon after. She and her fiance got engaged last May just before her 21st birthday. Her fiance graduated last May and was an assistant basketball coach (volunteer) at a local college this past year. He is a great guy and they are both very happy. I tell my daughter that I know he started out well because I delivered him almost 25 years ago. I doubt very many mother-in-laws have had the privilege of delivering their son-in-law. To make it even more special his mother and I were responsible for introducing them!

Congratulations. That is such a great story! I hope that you have fun planning with your daughter! I have so much fun bringing all my new stuff over to show my mom all the time. You can get some great ideas here and lots of stuff at a cheaper rate. I bought my tiara, for one, on ebay instead of paying 100dollars at the bridal store, I paid 20 with shipping for it on ebay. :)

Good luck and happy planinng!

Great to have another MOB (as I call my mother) on the boards! What a sweet story! Very excited to hear more!

That is such a sweet story and you sound so proud! Welcome and Congrats! It will be exciting to read a PJ from a MOB prospective. I'm looking forward to it!

On a side note and totally OT:
I just got an intership (im a nursing student) for the summer on the OB department of my local hospital. I hope that I enjoy the department as much as you do!

Thanks so much for all your nice comments. I forgot to mention that my computer skills are VERY limited. I can't tell you how excited I was when I learned how to post a reply.. My goal this weekend is to learn how to answer you individually AND to learn how to post pictures. Got to leave for the hospital now.

Congratulations and :welcome: Your dd is lucky to have you so involved in all her planning!

Great story about delivering her DF!!!:)

Aww that is awesome!! How cool is that to be able to say you delivered your son in law!! When something is meant to be, it really is meant to be!!

I would love to read a PJ through the eyes of a mother! My mom needs to do this stuff but she is not very computer savvy......:rotfl:

Only enough to play games on POGO!

Toni--I can fully relate to your mother's computer skills. I'm probably 1/2 step ahead of her. My office staff wouldn't even let me touch the computer for the first 10 years.

Welcome! I am a MOB too..Looking forward to hearing of your plans! My computer skills are terrible and I am not good at typing (alot of mistakes..Sorry!)

Congratulations! And :welcome:

By the way, in order to respond to more than one post, click the middle button in the bottom right corner of each post you want to respond to. Then hit "post reply" in the bottom left under the last box/post. Then, all those posts will show up, separated by one blank line. You can type in that blank line to respond to the post above your typing. I hope that makes sense.

Looking forward to sharing your journey here! :goodvibes
