I am new to DIS boards, and I'm just trying to figure them out. I'm enjoying reading your posts. My husband is almost Disneyed out, I talk about our upcoming trip so much. We are going Dec. 3-10. I just missed free dining, but I really need those dates, so I can't switch. I will have my 11,and 7 year old daughters on the trip, and my 7 year old will be turning 8 while we are there. I purchased her a Cinderella dress, but I will be making the shoes, and my grandmother in law is making my oldest an Elsa dress.
My kids have been watching old Disney VHS tapes (since I can pick those up next to nothing) while I grade papers after school or work in the summer as I'm a teacher. I love your food ideas though. So cute!
I'm looking for great ways to make my daughter's birthday magical. Most of the ideas on Disney's website are a bit out of my price range. So far I've bought a banneR for our room, I'm going to have stockings where Tink can leave gifts, although I do not ave as many as you do(hard to shop when my kids are with me mostly).
Other than getting the free button and the wake up call, do u have any great tips?
Btw, we went in 2010 with in laws, and I scrapped autograph books that were very intricate. The characters loved them! I read somewhere about having them sign a pillowcase, but I'm not sure how u keep a marker from bleeding through fabric without carrying around card board! However, I am taking shatterproof balls into the park so that in Epcot we can have Merry Christmas written on them in different languages.
Sorry to write so much! YOur trip planning is inspiring, and I have no one to share my planning with since I'm driving my hubby crazy!
Thanks for any ideas you might have!

Oh my gosh. I just spent the longest time writing out the longest response to this and then lost it. Arrghh.
Here I go again.

I hope you enjoy the Dis boards as much as I do.
We almost went at the same time you are going but then decided to switch it so we would be there for our daughter's 5th birthday since we were there for Abi's 5th last time. I loved that time of year though so I am sure we will be going back at the beginning of December again someday.
So, I will just go straight to the birthday tips rather than try to remember all the stuff I typed a minute ago.
It really depends on how much you want to spend or if you want little things you can do for free. Also, are you planning on eating out at any table services or doing anything like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?
Where are you staying? What are your daughter's favorite Disney characters and/or experiences.
We ate at Cinderella's Royal Table and 1900 Park Fare cinderella dinner last time and we will be doing that again. IF you are on the dining plan it is great. If you aren't you might want to do one of those or pick something else that you know your daughter would love.
We do the BBB but we do the cheapest pkg and then I make our dresses to take along to help make it more budget friendly. If you don't want to do it at all but think she would enjoy dressing up. You could always use the dresses you are getting/ having made and then bring along your own nail polish and tiara (you can usually find them in toy stores or Target for pretty decent price) and do your own BBB in your room.
We didn't do the wake up call last time but probably will this time but we did hang a banner I brought up above her bed so that was fun for her to wake up to.
On Abi's bday her tink gift was the shoes she would wear with the cinderella dress I made, will probably do something similar this time.
We pretty much followed her lead as to what rides and experiences she wanted to have that day. I think she loved being "in charge" for a day.
Make sure you tell your hotel, the people at reservations, anyone that it is her birthday you are celebrating. We came back on her birthday to a signed card from Mickey in our room.
Also she wore her birthday button all day and she was constantly getting Disney magic. Another tourist gave us a fast pass, some CM's stopped and gave her a FP, a CM gave her a costume ring, etc. All of that might not happen again but they go out of their way to wish a happy birthday. It is fun! If you are in a restaurant tell them it is her birthday! If you meet any characters tell them it is her birthday!
We got a cake at the food court in POP and had a little party in our room too. We plan to do that again. It was $20 which is way more than I usually spend because I always make our bday cakes but it was really good and it was fun to still do a birthday "party" while there.
My biggest advice is to think about what she would want to do the very most while there and try to make her birthday the day you do that.

Does that help? If you have any other questions let me know.
BTW, I LOVE your ideas of taking the glass balls into Epcot and having Merry Christmas written in the different languages and the stockings for Tink gifts. Such cute ideas!!
