Planning another magical 5th birthday

For our movie night this weekend we watched Tangled!
I set up our Rapunzel baby with the movie. She was having a bad hair day.

For dinner we had spaghetti and braided breadsticks with Pascal-green peas. We ate them on frying pans we made from black paper plates.
We also drank some "sun juice" from the Snuggly Duckling.

After dinner we decorated cupcakes for Rapunzel's birthday.

After enjoying the cupcakes, the girls painted pictures of Rapunzel.

Abi's finished picture... (she has since done more to it but I haven't taken any pictures of it.

After the painting, the girls built towers for the rest of the movie.

This was such a fun movie night! :goodvibes

I am so excited right now that I had to do another update!:banana::banana:

About a week ago I was reading a trip report on my computer. Abi was playing Mario and Maddy was watching her. Then I heard them right behind me, Abi saying, "We want to do that!"
It was the Build a Dino at T-Rex. They asked what it was. I told them about the restaurant and the Build a dino itself.
They both said if we ever went to Disney world again they wanted to go there so bad.

T-rex wasn't really even on my radar. I know we will have a few meals OOP because we are on the regular dining plan so I thought maybe we should check it out.

I got on MDE and started looking for reservations.

There was only one our entire trip at 10PM.

I have checked every day and still nothing. :confused3

Then a few minutes ago I was looking at current threads and saw one about T-Rex. I clicked through. They were saying that if you couldn't get one through Disney to call them directly.
I decided to try it.

I was able to get an ADR for our arrival night at 8:15pm.
It is late enough that it shouldn't be a rush to get there but early enough we can get back to the hotel for bed before it is too late.
:cool1:

I was thinking we wouldn't do anything on our arrival night but I think this will be a fun first thing to do that won't take up too much time and energy.

The Rapunzel movie night is so adorable!! I've never been to T-Rex but I've heard good things. I love starting the trip at DTD :)

Tangled movie night is adorable! Love it all! :thumbsup2

Woot on TREX! We did the SAME thing! There were zero ADRs through Disney on any of the nights we needed so I called TREX and they were like "yea we have pretty much the entire day open, what time do you want?" I was like ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! Then I promptly booked our desired time, then we ended up switching some days around and I called them back and was able to move it exactly where I wanted it too! :cheer2:

I think any of the places that are not actual Disney restaurants (Rainforest, TREX, House of Blues, etc...) you can call directly. Apparently they save the majority of their ressies for people who call directly (lots of locals I guess) and very few go in Disney's ADR system!

Anyway, so that's awesome. We just watched a you-tube video walk-through of TREX, we wanted to prep the girls because it is a little "scary" in there with the noise and lights and big roaring dinos, and it showed the build-a-dino area, and both girls went nuts! They love build-a-bear, so I shouldn't be surprised... lol. So we may end up with dinos too!

That will be so much fun for arrival night! A perfect kick-off!

Thanks! It was a really fun movie night!

I must have missed your experience calling into T-Rex if it was on your PTR. Maybe because I didn't think we would be going.
We will definitely be coming home with some dino's! They love build a bear so much that is, I'm sure, the reason they want to go so bad.
It will be really fun to surprise them with it.

The videos is a good idea. I will have to do that before we go over so they are prepared. :)

Tangled movie night looks like so much fun!! I love the frying pan plates, so creative and awesome!

Congrats on T-Rex!! That is amazing! Just a great feeling when you score an ADR after the 180 day mark! And T-Rex just looks like so much fun!! :cool1:

It was a lot of fun. I saw the frying pan plates on Pinterest and loved them. They were so much fun.
Before putting food on them we all kept grabbing them and hitting each other. "Frying pans! Who knew, right?"
It was a good time. :goodvibes

I am really excited for T-Rex. I think they are going to love the restaurant and the build a dino. Plus, Maddy has been saying she wants to do Build A Bear for her birthday so that's pretty close...

Tangled Movie night was adorable!!!

Congrats on getting your Reservation!!!! SO MUCH PIXI DUST!!!! :cool1:

Aww I love Honey I Shrunk the Kids!

Tangled night sounds like it was a success!

Congrats on getting the T-Rex ADR!

I do too. I hope they will learn to appreciate it as they get older. And that it isn't just one of those movies you don't appreciate if you didn't grow up in the 80's/90's. :goodvibes
Tangled was so much fun!
Thanks. We are so excited to try another new place.

sorry I haven't commented in so long! I have been following along though. your tangled movie night looked great! (our Rapunzel doll has lots of bad hair days too!)

we did t-rex on our last trip. it was a lot of fun! you'll love it!

Yes. It is hard to keep doll hair in check... at least in this house. :rotfl:
Thanks! I am so excited. It seems that now that we have made our reservation, I keep seeing great reviews.

I have a question for those of you that have used Memory Maker.
Our last experience was using Photo pass and we just got the card the first time we used a photographer and went from there.
What do we need to do to activiate Memory Maker? Do we need to do anything special?

If I remember correctly from our January trip....you can order it up to 3 days before your trip and still get the discounted price. Then when you see a photographer in the park, they will scan your magic band instead of using the card. When you get home, you go onto the website and enter the number on the back of your magic band and it will pull up your pictures for you to edit, etc. it's mostly the same except they use the bands instead of cards now. They an also use anyone in your parties band so long as you're all linked on your account. So if youre somewhere with one child and dad and one kiddo get a picture somewhere you don't have to be there to use just your band.

No, nothing to activate or anything. And you get your ride pictures too. We didn't do any of those but I assume you'd just get your picture number at the end and they'd scan your band to add it to your account

Great. Thanks! I was worried because it seems like I have read on trip reports about people wanting pictures but not having it set up yet... but I couldn't remember which ones.
We have already purchased it so that is very exciting.

They just started using the long range RFID now in the bands. You no longer will have to stop and add your ride photos to your band, your ride vehicle will recognize your band and automatically add your photos! No more stopping! Pretty cool and slightly creepy! ;)

Just throwing my two cents in. Like Denovagirl stated, the long range rfid's worked well for us a week and a half ago, but for some reason, we didn't get our test track photos. If any ride photos are really important to you, it might be worth double checking. :)
