Planning a vacation before the airfare deals come out

Im looking for nonstop Ohare also for 10/31 - 11/6, so far not impressed with prices - about 200 rt each...3 of us...where did you find such a cheap flight before?

Were out here in Algonquin.

It was Spirit Airlines and I think they discontinued the OHare/Orlando Flights now. I have also gotten very cheap flights out of Rockford Airport (they have free parking at this airport), but it's into Orlando/Sanford so you can't use ME. We used Orlando Sanford transportation and had no complaints. I can't remember the airline we used out of Rockford but they went bankrupt anyway. Now the flights are Allegiant Air. My complaint with them is the flights arrive in Orlando in the late afternoon and leave for Chicago in the morning. There were lots of deals when we went, but it was late August - mid hurricane season, in fact we returned to Chicago the day before Katrina hit. Hope the info is helpful.

BTW - Totally off topic Lizzybee but where are you planning on staying. Your beautiful pictures of POR make me definitely want to try it some day. Wherever you go hope you bring back more pictures.[/QUOTE]

I'm kind of confused. POR is a lovely resort but I don't have an pics of it online. We just got a deal for Swan/Dolphin of $129 per night with a room upgrade, but I dont' know if I'll go that route. The last time when it was just the kids and I we stayed at ASMo. We enjoyed it and would probably stay there or another value. :sunny:

We did Spirit when we flew last time, and I was happy with it. I keep checking their site and ORD - MCO is offered but then it says theres no flights- so I dont know if its too early or they arent flying that route any more. You can choose those cities as a route, but no flight price offered (yet). Hoping to at least get down to 150 rt one way or another (out of Ohare).

I remembered (I thought it was you) having pictures when you came back from your first POR stay. Maybe I'm wrong and it was someone else - sorry!

We get an 'idea' of what time of year we want to go, and wait for some airfare deals to come out. If I don't see anything on the 3-month out mark, I'll book the room and hope for a DING fare to come out before we leave. If not, we'll use the back-up plan and just drive. Needless to say, of our 4 Disney trips I haven't driven once!!!

I was getting nervous for our April trip this year, and wondered if we'd be driving, BUT I just purchased a DING fare last week for $34 each way from BWI to MCO. $350 for all 4 tickets, so we'll be flying once again.

I booked our trip for November last week. It's too early to book the air because the airlines don't know exactly what the demand is going to be at that time so the fares are all high. The other week United was just adding their non-stop flights so that's changing all the time. IMO book the land side of your trip & just keep checking the airfares. For us I expect to be booking during the summer months. :wave2:

yea that! LOL me too. november is booked, when we see airfare at a decent enough price for hte flight time we want, then we will book it then. we know when we are going we know what ot expect for the price based on what it is now, a lower price will be a nice surprise. :O) :sail:
